Chapter 3
I threw a smile at him and he continued his work. "Can you breath freely?" he asked me as he finished tying that cloth on my breasts.
"Yeah. But I'm not used to it."
"Bear with it. The second thing is your clothing," he took out some clothes from his bag and passed them to me, "wear these. You will look smart in them."
"It's a suit! Cool! Where did you get this?"
"Don't you care about this? Put them on."
"Kay."
When I walked out from the bathroom, Ryan starred at me, "Wow! I've never seen a girl so handsome as you."
"What about you? What are you wearing?"
"T-shirt and jeans!"
"Why? You give away your suit to me?"
"No! I will feel uneasy wearing so neat. Now, you learn to walk like a guy."
"This is easy." I tried a few steps.
"Yeah. But something is missing."
"What?"
"As you walk, put your hand in the pocket. Occasionally, scratch the part between your legs."
"Yuck! That's disgusting! There's no way that I'm going to do this."
"But in 10 guys, 9 of them do this."
"Nonsense!"
"Okay, just kidding."
"Can we go now?"
"Sure. Let's go."

"I want to go to the toilet, Ryan."
"Getting nervous? Come with me." I tagged behind Ryan and reached the toilet. When I was about to push open the 'Ladies' door, Ryan snatched my hand and dragged me into the Gent.
"What are you doing?" I was furious and shouted at him. Everyone in the Gent seemed to be aroused by me. I felt blood surging up my face.
"Ssshh! Don't you remember? You're now a guy," Ryan whispered in my ear.
"But you can't expect me to release myself like the guys," I said softly.
"Do you know that there is something in the toilet named 'toilet bowl'? Go inside. I'll wait for you here." I went in embarrassed and shut the door behind me.
"What is taking you so long?"
"Coming. Stop rushing me." As I opened the door and looked up, a pair of blue eyes caught mine - a pair of familiar eyes yet so unknown to me. He looked deeply into my eyes. This made my heart pounded heavily and I shyly turned my gazes away from his. I tried to figure out whose eyes were those but my mind was a mess, my legs rooted to the ground. A voice interrupted my thinking, "Are you alright?" It was Ryan.
"Huh?"
"Never mind. Wash your hands and let's get out of here."
When I looked around for that pair of gorgeous eyes again, it was nowhere to be seen. It was a poignant moment.
We waited for about one and a half hour before Ryan was called for his turn. He wasn't nervous at all. Typical of me, I always had butterfly in the stomach when I came to this kind of things. I wished him 'good luck' before he walked into the room. The time seemed to be flying very fast. I was fidgeting quietly in my seat all the time. Soon, the door was opened again and Ryan walked out.
"How was it?" I asked.
"Everything is fine," he replied with an ear-to-ear grin.
"Sam," a lady's voice called out.
"Sam?" I was kind of confused.
"Your new name. Go now." I took a deep breath and mustered all my courage and walked into the room. I was showed to a spot where I was supposed to stand in the room. The subdued silence in the room made me felt more nervous. All the time, I was looking down.
"Sam, relax. What song are you going to present?" a familiar voice broke the silence. I raised my head and my eyes once again met with the pair of gleaming eyes. He was Brian - none other than Brian of the Backstreetboys!
"I " my voice seemed inaudible.
"Relax, Sam. Take a deep breath," Bryan threw an assuring smile at me.
" 'Eyes on Me'," I forced those words out of my throat. I wasn't supposed to sing this song but it just came into my mind. How I wanted so much to dedicate this song to him. Miraculously, when I started to sing, I forgot about the fear and the nervousness. I sang with all my heart.
"Whenever
sang my songs, on the stage of my own.
Whenever said my words, wishing they would be heard.
I saw you smiling at me.
Was it real or just my fantasy?
My last night here for you, same old songs just once more.
My last night here with you, maybe yes, maybe no.
I kind of like it your way, how you shyly place your eyes on me.
Oh, did you ever know that I have mine on you?
Darling, so there you are, with that look on your face.
As if you never hurt, as if you never down.
Shall I be the one for you?
Who pinches you softly but sure.
If frown is shown then I will know that you are no dreamer.
So let me come to you, close as I wanna be,
close enough for me to feel your heart beating fast.
And stay there as I whisper, how I love your peaceful eyes on me.
Did you ever know that I have mine one you?
Darling, so share with me, your love if you have enough, your tears if you are
holding back of pain, if that is what it is.
How can I let you know, I'm more than the dress and the voice?
Just reach me out there; you'll know that you are not dreaming."
"Thank you, Sam. Go back and wait for our news," a man sitting next to Brian said.
"Thank you."
Later, I found out that Brian would be the manager of the chosen one. How I hoped the chosen one was me.

It had been two days since the audition. I was watching soccer in Ryan's room.
"Hey, didn't you notice Brian of BSB that day?" asked Ryan.
"I did. Why?"
"You reacted so normal. I thought you were crazy about him."
"I am crazy about him. So what?"
"I am curious why didn't you act crazy in front of him, like shouting his name "
"Do you think I would do that? He might think that I was crazy. He saw me as a guy that day."
"Yeah, you're right. If you appeared as a girl that day, would you ."
I interrupted, "Hey, can you stop asking stupid questions? I want to watch the game."
