Chapter 2
Jane's view
I walked in the room finding Brian and Tiffany smiling and shaking hands with a very uncomfortable Nick. I knew Nick liked Tiffany since he was 10 but I don't think he likes her anymore. I think he loves her. I also knew he was going to ask Tiffany to be his girl. I had to do something.
"Tiffany dear?"
She snapped her hand from Brian's and looked at me innocently saying, "Yes Jane?"
"Could you help me in the kitchen for a moment. I seem to be having trouble with the tuna casserole," I replied smiling. Nick sure looked relieved.
"Sure I'll be there in a minute."
I turned and walked back to the kitchen trying to think of something for Tiffany to do.
Nick's View
When my mom said those words I just wanted to run up and kiss her. I think she knew I was uncomfortable.
Tiffany's View
I was kinda sad to leave but I did need to catch up on things with Jane. I turned to Brian.
"Maybe we could talk and get to know each other better when I'm done helping Jane," I said hoping he would say yes.
"Sure we could do that," he said casually.
"Great see ya in a few," I said excited. He just smiled from ear to ear.
I then started toward the kitchen to help my second mother Jane.
Brian's View
I swear that when she smiles the whole world must light up. When she left I looked at Nick, grabbed his arm, and dragged him to his room to have a little chat.
Nick's view
Brian obviously needed to tell me something because he sure was eager to get to my room.
Brian pushed me into my room and closed the door quickly. He turned around and what I saw actually scared me. He was smiling like a fool. I've never seen him this happy.
"Why didn't you tell me about her?" he asked very excited.
"You never asked," I said getting a little uncomfortable.
"Well now I know I made a mistake. Nick are you blind or something?! You're best friends with the most gorgeous person alive!" he said yelling.
"Brian I really never found you attractive and I'm not gay so I wouldn't have known I was best friends with the most gorgeous person alive," I smirked.
"No not me you idiot! Tiffany! She's beautiful. No not beautiful, gorgeous. Her skin is so smooth and gentle; her eyes are as blue as the sky, and her smile. I can go on and on," he said spacing out.
I wanted to scream at him telling him I already knew these things but I just simply said, "Really? I haven't noticed."
"Haven't noticed! Jeez Nick. You really are blind," he said sitting next to me while waving his hand in front of my face.
I pushed his hand away and said, "What are you leading to Bri?"
"I'm not sure yet," he said thinking. He sure was thinking hard. I was starting to worry because Brian only thought like this when he was planning to ask someone out.
"Are you going to ask Tiffany out?" I asked shakily.
"Hmm. Oh I'm not sure yet. I haven't gotten to know her better and you know that I'm shy when asking girls out."
"Oh. OK."
Tiffany's View
"So what do you need help with Jane?" I asked curious.
"Well I need help with the brownies. Maybe you could take some to the boys."
"OK," I said eager to see Brian again.
I gathered the brownies on a plate and started toward, actually I didn't no where I was headed so I asked Jane, "Where are Brian and Nick anyway?"
"I think I saw them go up the stairs. Try Nick's room," she replied.
"Thanks," I said while heading up the stairs toward Nick's room. As I came nearer I heard some mumbling behind the door. I couldn't make anything out so I knocked. If it were just Nick inside I would have just barged in but since there is company I had to act polite.
"Knock, Knock"
I heard a muffled "come in". As I walked in Nick looked up quickly and Brian's head snapped up from its position on his hand.
"Hi did I disturb something?" I asked shakily because two sets of eyes were staring at me intently.
"Oh no. We were just talking," Brian said smiling very wide.
"OK. I brought up some brownies. Jane thought you guys might be hungry," I said while raising the plate.
Nick and Brian shot up from their sitting position and ran towards me. I closed my eyes tight expecting to get tackled but when I wasn't I opened my eyes to find the plate empty. I looked over the plate to find Brian and Nick on the floor stuffing their faces. They looked like 3 year olds. I started to giggle but then I realized that all the brownies were actually gone.
"Hey! You didn't save one for me?" I said with a disgusted face.
They looked up at me and just smiled. Their teeth were all brown from the chocolate. Both of them at once stuck out their hands and asked, "What some?" Well that's what I think they said. I could barely understand them because their mouths were so full.
"No that's OK," I said while scrunching up my nose.
"I'm guessing you like chocolate?" I asked to Brian.
"Yeah that and CHEESE!!! I LOVE CHEESE! I CAN'T EVER GET ENOUGH OF IT! I EAT MAC & CHEESE, CHEEZ ITS, RITZ CHEESE SANDWICHES! JUST ANYTHING WITH CHEESE!" Brian said while smiling.
I just giggled while Nick choked on his brownies while laughing.
"What? What I say?" he asked confused.
"Congratulations Bri! I think you get the grand prize for liking cheese," I said in between laughs.
"There is nothing wrong with liking cheese. You're telling me that you don't like cheese?"
"Brian I like cheese but not as much as you."
"OK this is going nowhere," Nick said.
"Yeah. Hey this is the perfect time to get to know one another," I pointed out to Brian.
"Yeah it is. So tell me about yourself," he said seeming very interested. I wondered why. I just ignored it.
"Well my full name is Tiffany Elizabeth Brown. I'm 19. My birthday is February 10, 1980. I have 4 brothers and 1 sister. I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. My best friend is Nick. Don't worry I have other friends. I graduated a little under a year ago and I'm starting collage here next spring. I think that's it. Anything else?" I asked.
"No I think you covered it. Do I need to tell you about myself?"
"Oh no. You don't have to. I've either read about you or Nick has told me about you so you really don't need to tell me anything."
"OK. Since you know so much about me you probably would ace a test huh?" he said half-teasing half-serious.
"Yeah I guess so," I shrugged.
"Ok then. Later today I'm going to be popping questions at you and if you get them all right I'll give a reward but if you don't get them all right then you have to go through a terrible dinner with me tonight. Deal?"
I thought about it for a couple of seconds but then decided to go for it. I mean either way I get something out of it right? And they're both from Brian so it's even better.
"Deal!" I said while shaking his hand.
Nick's View
I knew it! I knew it! I'm so stupid! I should've known Brian would ask her out through something that seemed so innocent. I just wanted to punch him and scream at him telling him that Tiffany was mine and not his but I couldn't because Tiffany wasn't mine and probably will never be. I waited too late to ask her out. I just have to think of something clever that's all. Tiffany is going to be mine not Brian's. I've been Tiffany's best friend for over 17 years and it's not just a crush any more. I finally realize that I'm in love with Tiffany and I can't lose her.
