Chapter 8

Christian's View

"Dude Michelle why does Vince always have to come over here?" I asked walking into the living room and sitting next to Michelle on the couch. She was eating popcorn and watching "The Matrix."

"Because I want him over here," she said simply.

"Well, personally I'm sick of seeing and hearing him. He like comes over here everyday," I said.

She shrugged and said, "So?"

"So? You don't see my girlfriend coming over everyday," I said. She looked at me weirdly and then laughed, "You have a girlfriend? HA! Yeah right! You want to know why your 'girlfriend' doesn't come over? It's because you don't have one moron."

"How do you know? You don't! You are so absorbed in Vince that you don't care about anyone else's life!"

"That is so not true Christian and you know it!"

"No, I don't know it. Michelle we all feel that you don't even care about Mom being in the hospital," I said quietly.

"What?" she asked startled.

"You heard me."

"Christian that's not true! What an awful thing to say! Of course I care if Mom is in the hospital!" she exclaimed.

"You sure don't act like it Michelle," I said.

"What do you mean I don't act like it? I have been acting like you or Jason or Courtney," she said. I shook my head and said, "Not entirely."

"What do you mean?"

"Michelle, this is a family crisis, a BIG family crisis, and you aren't handling this like the rest of us are. I mean the rest of us aren't going out with friends and having a good time, we're actually worrying about her. You on the other hand have Vince coming over or you go out to the movies or something."

"Christian! Have you ever stopped to think that maybe I have been doing that to get my mind off the whole thing? This is really depressing for me, I don't want to lose Mom but I don't want to lay around here all depressed. There's no point in doing that, Mom wouldn't want us doing that..." she was cut off by glass breaking in the kitchen. We both jumped and jerked our heads toward the kitchen door wide eyed.

"What was that?" Christian whispered at me frightened.

"I don't know," I said wide eyed. I looked over at him and then jumped after hearing another crash come from the kitchen. I opened my mouth to scream but Christian clamped his hand over my mouth and pulled me off the couch and onto the floor.

"Shhh..." he said looking at me with his finger up to his mouth signaling for me to be quiet. I looked at him wide eyed, his hand was still clamped over my mouth. We sat there for a minute or so listening hard, we couldn't hear anything so Christian slowly began to sit up to look over the couch and toward the kitchen.

"GOTCHA!!!!" A female voice yelled jumping up from behind the couch and grabbing Christian's shirt. I screamed and stumbled back. Christian screamed frightened and wiggled out of the girls grasp. He fell back on his back and struggled to get on his feet. Two other people then came into view. I stood up next to Christian and looked around frightened. Three people stood behind the couch dressed all in black, black ski caps covering their faces, ropes and gags in their hands.

"Why don't you be nice little kids and come with us?" one of them asked. Christian and I both backed away from them.

"Don't be stupid!! Come with us now!" another one yelled. They sounded all female.

"Run to the stairs..." Christian said under his breath. I looked at him bewildered. Was he crazy!?

"Go...NOW!!" He yelled and then darted to the stairs running up them quickly. I stood there for a moment, paralyzed, not knowing what to do. The three woman seemed to be taken aback at what happened and didn't react quickly but as I finally took off for the stairs, all three of them came after me.

I struggled to get to the top of the stairs but tripped and fell onto my stomach. They were right behind me and one of the women grabbed my arm and roughly yanked me up.

"HELP ME!! HELP ME PLEASE!!!" I screamed. Something then came flying by my head and smashed at the bottom of the stairs on the marble floor.

"Get off her!!" I heard Christian scream. I looked up at the top of the staircase and saw him picking up vases of flowers and other various objects from the table at the top and throwing them down at me and the three kidnappers.

"Michelle run!" he yelled throwing a rather large vase toward the girl who was holding my arm tightly. The women let go of my arm and jumped out of the way as the vase came flying by.

"MOVE IT MICHELLE!" Christian screamed again. I ran up the stairs and down the hall following Christian. He ran into Jason's room and shut the door and locked it behind me.

"What are we gonna do?" I asked breathing heavily. Tears were stinging my eyes and I was shaking with fear. Christian raised a shaky hand and ran it through his blonde curly hair swallowing hard.

"I don't know, we need to call the police," he said.

"What the heck are you guys doing?" Jason groaned looking up at us from his pillow. "Go away! I was sleeping."

"Jason you need to get out of bed," I said walking over to his bed quickly and pulling the covers off him. He put his head under his pillow and groaned.

"Go away," we heard his muffled reply.

"Jason get up now! It's an emergency!" Christian hissed. Just then we heard voices from behind the door. Christian and I jerked our heads to the door wide eyed. Jason slowly raised his pillow and looked over at the door.

"Who are those people out there?" he asked looking at the both of us.

"They...they're kidnappers," I said quietly. Jason's eyes got wide and he sat upright in bed.

"What?" he whispered.

"We need to call the police, they attacked us downstairs," Christian said quickly.

"Where's the nearest phone?" I asked, I would have known the answer to that question perfectly if I wasn't in such a panicky mood.

"You're room or Mom and Dad's," Christian said shakily. Just then a loud crash came from next door, it was one of the guest rooms.

"Oh my gosh, we need to get Courtney and the babies!" I said wide eyed. I totally forgot about them.

"Jason come on!" Christian hissed pulling his arm. Jason hopped out of bed and pulled a shirt hastily over his head. We ran to the door that led to Courtney's room and swung it open. I closed the door gently behind us and walked quickly over to Courtney's bed. She was on her back, her teddy bear in her arms, sleeping soundly. I gently shook her.

"Court, come on wake up, we need to go," I whispered loud enough for her to hear. She stirred and looked up at me.

"Mickey, wha...?" she began but Christian quickly bent down and picked her up.

"Christian, what are you doing!?" she shrieked in his arms. He clamped a hand over her mouth and said, "Court, don't talk. They're are three really mean people in the house wanting to hurt us and we need to go OK? You have to be quiet all right?"

Courtney nodded her head wide eyed. Christian then took his hand off her mouth.

"Aren't Brian and Brianna across the hall?" Christian asked, turning to me quickly. I nodded my head quickly.

"How are we going to get them?" Jason asked panicky. Courtney then began to cry, "I want daddy! Where's daddy!?"

"Shhh!" Christian hissed covering her mouth again.

"Where the hell are they!?" one of the women screamed out in the hall.

"Check that room right there! The one with the basketball team on the door!" another girl yelled. We all stood there wide eyed.

"They're going into my room," Jason whispered.

"We have to go, and we have to go NOW!" Christian said turning to face us again. "Jason take Courtney and go all the way down the hall, going through the rooms, try and find a phone and when you do call the police got it?"

Jason nodded his head vigorously. Christian put a crying Courtney on the ground and Jason grabbed her hand.

"Go now!" I said pushing them towards the door that led to the next room over. There were only two more rooms beside the one we were in now and then there would be no where else to go. Christian and I then rushed over to the door that led out to the hall.

Christian's View

I opened it a crack and looked down the hall. One of the woman ran quickly up the stairs and ran down the opposite hall. Another woman just came out of my room and rushed across the hall to another guest room. There was no sign of the other woman. I opened the door and rushed across the hall to Brian and Brianna's room. I swung open the door and ran in closing the door quickly but quietly behind me once Michelle got in. We rushed over to the cribs and picked each of the babies up. I had Brianna and Michelle had Brian.

"Mom and Dad's room is on the other side of the house so there is no possible way that we are going to go there," I whispered holding a sleeping Brianna in my arms. Michelle looked up at me and for the first time I saw exactly how scared she actually was. She was pale and she was shaking all over and I was surprised that I didn't notice the tears streaming down her face before now.

"We need to get out of here," I said quietly. She nodded and walked briskly to the door that led out to the hall again, she looked both ways and then rushed out walking fast passed two doors and then running into the last room where Jason and Courtney were huddled near the bed. Jason had the phone in his hand and he was punching numbers in it wildly.

I closed the door behind Michelle and rushed over to see what was wrong. He looked up at me with tears in his eyes and said, "The phone...the phone's not working!"

Courtney just began to cry harder which started to wake up the twins.

"Oh no," I said.

"LEIGHANNE! I think I found them!" we all heard one of the women scream from right outside our door. The door swung open and 3 women rushed in quickly.

"Grab them!" one of them ordered. Michelle and I quickly set the babies down on the bed and tried to grab something to fight them off with. All three of the women sprang forward and grabbed one of us. Courtney was screaming wildly as were the twins. Jason got up and ran over to the door to run out. Michelle ran right behind him.

Jason and I ran quickly down the hall trying to reach the staircase but before I reached it someone's hand grabbed my hair yanking it back. I stopped abruptly and screamed. Jason stopped and turned around quickly looking at me with fear in his eyes. I was pushed forward quickly toward the foot of the stairs.

"Jason run!" I screamed, he stood there looking at me bewildered. "RUN NOW!!! GET AWAY!!!!"

He stood there for a moment and then rushed down the stairs and out of sight. I sighed relieved but then my head was once again yanked back.

"I see I have Brian's first born in my hands, now what do you think I should do about it?" I heard a woman's voice hiss in my ear. I shook uncontrollably as she pushed me closer to the foot of the marble staircase.

"It would be such a pity for Brian to lose his first child, his first daughter," she growled in my ear and then paused. She gently loosened her grasp on me and for one split second I thought she was going to let me go but I was wrong.

"Well, I guess he'll have to live with losing you!!!!" She yelled and then violently pushed me. I screamed and lurched forward tumbling down the stairs hitting each step hard and painfully. I heard cracks and glass crunching all around me as I flew down the stairs but right before I hit the bottom step my head slammed into one of the steps, pain shot through out my body but that pain was cut off by blacking out.

Meanwhile

"Let go of me!" I screamed at one of the women as she pinned me to the ground. She was slapping me hard across the face. Courtney screamed shrilly and ran to the closet trying to close the door but the other woman yanked it open and grabbed her violently.

"LEAVE HER ALONE!" I screamed struggling to get out the woman's grasp. I looked over and the woman handling Courtney had her on her back on the floor, she was putting ducked tape over her mouth and ropes on her hands and feet. She looked so small and helpless and I couldn't do anything to help her.

My body filled with horror as the woman reached into her black jacket and pulled out a needle. She stuck it into Courtney's arm and injected some sort of substance in her.

"NO!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HER!? LEAVE HER ALONE!" I thrashed around violently.

Just then I heard Michelle's high terrified scream from the hall. I stopped abruptly and looked toward the door frightened. What just happened to Michelle?

The other woman that had left running after Michelle and Jason then walked in looking around. I began to thrash around violently again.

"What did you do to her!? Where's Michelle!?" I screamed. The twins screamed and cried loudly from the bed. The woman near the door said, "Mandy we don't need him, throw him out the window."

The woman pinning me laughed and looked down at me, "Sorry kid."

I looked at her wide eyed, "No! STOP!"

The Mandy woman got up and grabbed my arms yanking me up. The woman by the door walked over and picked up my feet so I was in the air held by both of them.

"NO!!! STOP IT!!! PLEASE!!!!" I screamed wiggling around in their grasp. They walked over to the double glass doors that led to the balcony and started to swing me side to side. No, this can't be happening, my thoughts were cut off as I was released from their grasp and soared through the air crashing hard into the double glass doors. Glass broke all around me, cutting through my skin, piercing my body. I landed hard onto the ground, my head jerked back and hit the ground causing the pain from the glass in my body to fade away as I blacked out.
