Chapter 16
The Next Day
Brian's View
"Mr. Littrell?" a doctor said reading off of a clip board and looking up at everyone in the waiting room.
"Come on buddy, lets go get that test," I said standing up from my chair and waiting for Jason to get up also. Jason stood up and followed me out of the waiting room and down the hall following the doctor.
"Please take a seat," the doctor motioned towards a couple of chairs against the wall. We all sat down and waited as the doctor began to tell us what he was going to do.
"You do know why you are here right?" he asked.
I nodded my head.
"All right, we took some blood from your wife a couple hours ago while she was asleep. We tested it and it came out negative. You two are the only ones that are left that could maybe have the same blood type."
"OK, we're ready. I just want to get this over with," I sighed. The doctor nodded and took both Jason and mine's blood.
"Thank you, we'll notify you as soon as we get the test results back," he said standing up.
"Thank you doctor," I said getting up and exiting the room with Jason in front of me. Jason and I then went back to Tiffany's floor and entered the room.
"Hey beautiful," I said kissing Tiffany on the cheek and sitting down in one of the chairs.
'Hey handsome, where were you guys?" she asked looking at the both of us.
"We went to get a little lunch," I lied.
"Oh, all right," she smiled.
"Tiffy!!!" I heard someone say from the doorway. I looked up and found dozens of balloons floating into the room. I saw feet but I didn't see who was behind it but of course I knew who it was. Only one person calls Tiffany Tiffy.
"Nicky! What is all this?" Tiffany laughed. Nick hit balloons out of the way and poked his head through and smiled cheesely.
"These are for you my dear," he smiled.
"Thank you," she giggled.
"Ugh, I told him to not buy so much," Darlene said pushing through the balloons.
I chuckled and said, "Well does he ever listen?"
"Hey! Shut up!" Nick laughed.
"Where are the kids?" I asked.
"AJ's got them downstairs. Those stupid people in scary lab coats wouldn't let all of us up so we're taking turns."
"People in lab coats? You mean doctors right?" I asked.
"Duh! I knew that!" Nick rolled his eyes. I just laughed.
"Anyway before I was so rudely interrupted," he said glancing at me. "These balloons are only the beginning! I hope you're in the mood for candy."
"Candy? Mmmm I want candy! I haven't had any is so long!" Tiffany said.
"Oh good, cause Howie bought you a truck load."
"Goodie!" Tiffany giggled.
"Why don't you guys sit down?" I asked.
Darlene and Nick then went over and sat down in a couple chairs.
"Do you know when you get to get out Tiff?" Darlene asked.
"The doctors said in a couple days. They said there was no need for me to be here, I'm completely fine. They have me on a new medication and the doctor said it's working great."
"That's really good to hear!" Darlene smiled.
"I know, one down 2 to go," I mumbled. Everyone then became silent.
"I hope they'll be OK," Nick said quietly.
"We all do," Tiffany said. "I really want the babies to be OK."
The room then became deathly silent. Everyone looked down and a few moments later I heard a few cries coming from a few of them.
"Why does everything happen to us? Were we cursed or something?" Nick asked.
"I'm beginning to actually think that is true, never in my life have I known any other family that has had as many problems as mine," I muttered.
"I hate this," Tiffany said sadly with a few silent tears streaming down her face. "I hate this, I hate this, I hate this."
"I know baby but everything will be fine after all this blows over. Everything will be fine," I said looking at her. I sounded so sure but to be honest, I had no idea if everything was going to be fine. No idea at all.
