Chapter 72
Later That Night
Brian's View
"Daddy? What is that smell?" Courtney asked scrunching
up her nose. I laughed and said, "Brianna just needs a diaper change."
"Duh! Jeez Courtney! Are you that stupid?" Christian
asked. Courtney frowned and her eyes began to water.
"Christian! Apologize to your sister right now!" I
said angrily. He groaned and said, "I'm sorry."
"No you're not," Jason said.
"Shut up and mind your own business," Christian
snapped.
"OK, that's it, I'm separating all of you," I said
standing up picking Brianna up with me. Brian Jr. was sleeping soundly on
the couch with a bunch of blankets surrounding him.
"I didn't do anything!" Michelle said looking at me
from the couch.
"Not yet at least," Christian mumbled.
"Shut up!" Michelle snapped at him.
"All right! Stop it! Christian go call a friend or
go watch some sports, Courtney can stay here with me, Jason go downstairs
and play some video games and Michelle..." I said turning to her, "Go call
one of your friends or go out with Vince."
"Fine," they all mumbled and then walked out of the
room except for Courtney. She just sat down on couch and looked at Brian
Jr.
"He's really small," she said quietly.
"Yeah I know sweetie but he'll be getting bigger
soon."
"Christian said he's gonna look like a monkey," she
said. I slightly laughed and said, "He's not gonna look like a monkey."
"Are you sure?" she asked.
"I'm positive. Now why don't you get to bed, it's
getting late."
"OK daddy, goodnight," she said kissing me on the
cheek and running up the stairs. I sighed and sat down on the couch closing
my eyes as Brianna chewed on the end of her blanket.
Tiffany's View
I woke up to a weird noise coming from across the room. I opened my eyes
slowly and rubbed the sleep away. I looked around and found the room pitch
black. I guess I've been sleeping for a long time.
I looked over at the clock and it said 9:57PM.
I groaned and just laid on my back looking at the ceiling and hearing the
faint sound of the ocean.
BOOM!
My eyes got wide and I lifted my head off the pillow a little to see if I
could see anything across the room. A lamp was in pieces dear the bathroom
door. I started to breath heavily and my heart began to pound.
I closed my eyes tight and opened them again after swallowing hard. When
I opened them a dark figure stood right across from the bed. My eyes grew
wide and I screamed as loud as I could. The figure came at me and jumped
onto the bed. He or maybe even a she was wearing all black. I tried to get
off the bed but the person pulled me back and held me tight. I then heard
running up the stairs.
"Tiffany!? What's wrong!?" Brian yelled running into the room. My heart was
beating wildly against my chest. Brian turned the light on and got wide eyed.
"Get the hell off my wife!" he screamed running for a baseball bat. Brian
grabbed it and was raising it as he walked over to the bed. All of a sudden
the person's grip on me loosened and the guy fell over laughing. I was breathing
heavily and shaking uncontrollably. I looked at the person laughing on the
floor and thought how sick he must be in the head...wait...I know that laugh.
"God dammit Nick! What the hell do you think you were doing!?" Brian yelled
slamming the baseball bat down and tearing the black ski cap off Nick's head.
He had tears streaming down his face from laughing so hard.
"It was only a joke!" he laughed trying to get up. I started to hit him on
the back.
"That was so not funny Nick! I almost had a heart attack!" I screamed. My
heart was still beating fast.
"Tiffany...I'm sorry...but it was only a joke," he said calming down a bit.
"A joke? Nick she has a heart problem you know that!" Brian yelled. The kids
started to gather around the door curious as to what happened.
"I know I know and I'm sorry Tiffany," he said sincerely. I looked at him
and he stuck his bottom lip out at me, "Forgive me?"
I looked at him for a second and broke out into a smile, "Of course I do."
"Ah goodie! You should know by now that I like to play jokes on you," he
smiled at me.
"Yes I know," I said as he rapped me in a hug. He hugged me tight and said
into my ear, "I love you."
"I love you too Nicky."
"OK, we all love you Nick but get out," Brian said.
"Thanks, I feel so cared for," Nick joked.
"Get out," Brian said pushing him to the door.
"I'm going jeez!" he said and then left. Christian, Michelle and the rest
of the kids just looked at us.
"What happened?" Michelle asked.
"Nothing...all of you go to bed now," Brian said pushing them down the hall
and then coming back to me after he closed the door behind him.
"Are you OK honey?" he asked looking me in the eyes.
"I'm fine," I said smiling weakly. He slightly smiled and rapped me in a
hug.
"Want to go to bed?" he asked. I nodded my head and headed back over to the
bed.
"Wait...where are the babies?" I asked.
"I put them in their cribs," he said.
"Oh OK...how are they doing?" I asked getting under the covers.
"They are doing fine...they're great," he smiled at me getting under the
covers also. We faced each other and for the next hour we just talked like
we used to do when we were younger and not married. I finally had the family
that I wanted and I wasn't going to mess anything up with it. I'm happy where
I am and I know that I'm going to be happy for the rest of my life as long
as I'm with my children...my friends...and my soul mate.
