Chapter 9
Kris drove Na over to Kevin's house with all her crap, from where they were gonna take a huge van to the airport with all their stuff. They jumped out of the car and greeted the awaiting guys in the driveway. Na ran up to Nick and kissed him passionately, even though they had seen each other the night before.
"Get a room!" AJ called, hugging Kris and wrapping an arm around her waist.
"Hey, is everyone ready to go? We have to be there in an hour," Kevin called, smiling at Kris while they packed the last of their suitcases.
"Ready and accounted for," Brian answered, pulling a suitcase after him towards the van.
"We're gonna miss you, Kris," Howie said, pulling Kris away from AJ and hugging her tightly.
"Hey, two weeks will fly by in no time, I promise," Kris replied, holding back tears that threatened to overflow. Kevin handed Kris her tickets to Paris.
"That doesn't mean you won't be missed," he said and hugged her. Kris went through a similar situation with everyone else, then said, "Hey, where's B-Rok? I have to say goodbye to him." Kevin shared a smug smile with Howie.
"He went inside to get something, I think." Kris ignored the smirk on Kevin's face and walked in the house, wondering if they knew something she didn't.
"Hey B-Rok, where are you?" she called, looking in the kitchen, family and piano rooms, then yelled up the stairs.
"I'm up here!" Brian called from his room, grabbing his last suitcase. Kris smiled, and headed up and into his room.
"Yo Rok, they're gonna leave without ya soon," she teased when he walked out of his closet, suitcase in hand. Brian smiled and winked at her.
"Nah, they need me too much to leave me behind, though if I got to stay with you, it might not be so bad. I'm gonna miss you!" Brian pulled Kris into a huge hug.
"No more grief from you, or I'm gonna start bawling Brian! It's only gonna be two weeks, then I'll meet you in Paris. Ooh, shopping!" Kris cried, side tracked for a moment. Brian started laughing.
"Ah ha! Now we know the real reason you're coming on tour!"
"Hey, be glad it's not your money I'm spending!" Kris joked, punching him lightly. "Did you think I'd go to Europe just to see you.. eww!" Brian pretended to be hurt and Kris started laughing.
"Okay, I confess, it's the shopping and the hot foreign guys, how's that?"
"Better.." Brian said as they walked back to the van. Kevin ran by them, saying, "Five minutes, B-Rok! See ya later Kris!" and grabbed Brian's suitcase as he went by, leaving the two alone.
"I guess I'll see ya in two weeks," Kris said, holding Brian close one last time, her heart beating hard as she smelled his light cologne and a spark of electricity ran through them as they touched.
"I guess so. G'bye, Kris, I'll see ya soon," Brian said, slowly backing away and walking towards the door. Kris watched him go, only able to see his outline in the doorway, and something hit her, hard. If she let him walk out that door one more time without telling him how she felt, she might never have another chance to tell him. Brian was almost out the door when Kris cried, "Brian, wait!" He paused for a moment as Kris walked over, took his hand off the knob and held it in hers, looking deep into his eyes.
"What?" Brian asked softly, his heart beating wildly as her blue eyes stared intensely at him. Kris pulled him back, closing the door gently, turned and kissed him on the lips. She felt his heart beating wildly under her hand and knew it was gonna be all right. A deep voice said from behind them,
"It took you two long enough! Now let's go, B-Rok!" They broke away, red but smiling.
"Thanks Train, I'll be out in one minute," Brian replied, holding Kris' gaze.
"He's right, that took way too long. I'm sorry, Brian," Kris murmured. Brian frowned.
"Why now Kris? Why start a relationship when we're gonna be apart for two weeks?" Kris smiled at him, then simply touched her lips to his soft ones, holding them there for a long moment.
"Because I couldn't wait any longer to do that, or tell you-" Kris was interrupted by AJ, who picked her up and started twirling her.
"I heard the news, B-Rok! This is great! But we have to go NOW!" AJ cried, then gently set Kris on her feet and kissed her on the cheek.
"Don't worry, we'll keep him in line, Kris. Take care of yourself!" AJ said, pulling on Brian's hand.
"Okay, I'm coming Bone!" Brian laughed, but Kris held him back for a moment longer.
"Brian, I love you. That's what I needed to say, now go!" Kris urged, kissing him one last time.
"I
love you too! Bye, I'll call ya later!" Brian rushed, pushing a house key
into her hand, then running out and jumping into the van, waving at her as they
sped down the road and out of sight. *
One Week Later
Kris shuddered and pulled down her hat farther as she made her way through a
rank, brightly lit building. A policeman escorted her down the hall and let
her in a packed room. She took a seat in the very back as a small, balding man
announced, "Prisoner 0261938's request for parole has been considered.
Joshua Rihnson, please step forward." Kris' eyes widened with fright behind
her sunglasses as a tall, brown haired, muscular man stepped forward.
"Your request for parole on the basis of good behavior has been considered and approved. You will have to report to.." the man's voice droned on as Kris gasped and almost fainted. Josh's face lit up in a bright smile. He glanced at the back of the room and looked straight at Kris, smirking. He mouthed, "Look who won this time!" and Kris wobbled out of her chair and out the door.
"Miss, are you all right?" a concerned policeman asked. Kris turned to answer and fell into his arms in a dead faint. *
