Kris went back upstairs, still a little queasy but able to walk by herself.
After brushing her teeth and throwing her hair in a messy bun, she grabbed her
clothes from Kevin's room, pausing to hike up the much-too-big black and red
Adidas tear aways. She stopped again outside Brian's door, wondering what she
was going to say to him, then quietly walked back down the hallway. Kris thought,
"It's no use, I screwed myself, this time for good," wiping away a
tear trickling down her cheek. A sparkle of red caught her eye, and she focused
on the small heart Brian had given her. Kris felt a surge of happiness as she
remembered, then came to her decision then and there. No matter how much she
didn't want him, Kris needed Brian in her life.
"Show me the meaning of being lonely. Is this the feeling I need to walk with? Tell me why I can't be there where you are. There's something missing in my heart.." Kris said nothing, just stood speechless, silent tears running down her cheeks as light footsteps approached her from behind.
"Brian, I-," Kris started, turning to face him. His hair was a tangle of wet curls, and his CK jeans hung loosely on his hips, showing his Armani boxers. Brian slowly smiled at Kris, his crystal blue eyes saying it all, though she had a little trouble focusing on his face and not his bare chest.
"Kris, I heard you talking to Kevin. It's okay, but we need to talk." Kris looked at him, a spark of anger going off in her eyes as she realized he'd listened to that whole conversation, but said nothing. Brian approached her, a little afraid she'd disappear if he touched her. Kris shook as his warm, soft hands brushed her arms, then grasped her hips, gently pulling her closer.
"Baby, I'm so sorry, I never thought one secret could hurt so much." Brian held her gaze, and Kris shivered as she felt his warm breath on her bare neck, making her heart beat wildly in her chest.
"I love you Kris, and trust you with my heart. I understand, there's no need to apologize. If anything, I should be the one apologizing for listening in when I should've heard it straight from you. You're my star, my shooting, lucky star." He paused, a goofy smile on his face.
"Besides, I couldn't get rid of you, even if I wanted to!" Kris mock punched him, grinning as she pushed him away.
"How sweet of you! I guess I've got a new nickname. Hmm, Star.. I love it, somehow it fits perfectly." She grinned at Brian, who was restraining himself from kissing her.
"So, got any plans for tomorrow, hon?" Kris asked, pulling him close and letting the conversation slide for another time.
"Um, no. What am I forgetting?"
"Howie's birthday! He wants to have a big party, like, all of our families, over and then go clubbing! C'mon B-Rok, I even knew about that!" Brian smacked himself on the forehead.
"Oh boy, this is gonna be interesting!" Kris gave him a strange look and he started laughing. "I forgot, you've never been here for a party like this. Can you imagine all of our parents, brothers, sisters and more, times five! It's utter chaos! But you'll have fun meeting them all. I want you to meet my family, I know they want to meet you!" Kris smiled up at him, a tinge of sadness crossing her angular face.
"I wish you could meet mine, too." Brian caressed her cheek softly, then thought for a moment.
"Why don't you invite them? Then I could meet them!" Kris' eyes widened and she backed away, shaking her head vigorously.
"Brian, I don't think so. I haven't seen them for five years, and I just talked to them for the first time in about a year and a half yesterday. This whole thing with Edward was some plan on their part to get me home." Kris smiled bitterly. "I bet I'm the only princess who's ever run away." She sighed, her eyes shiny with tears as she looked back up at Brian. He placed his hands on her shoulders, looking Kris square in the eyes.
"Please, just think about it. You may find you miss them more than you think." Kris nodded, she would think about it, and she turned to go back downstairs.
"Star?" Brian called softly, approaching her one last time. Kris looked up at him, and could feel all his emotions, pouring out from his expressive eyes. "Star, I love you. This is gonna work out, I promise. I don't care if you're a princess or what your parents think, because I'm with you. I lost you once, and nothing can pull me away now that I have you back in my arms, all right?" Kris nodded, then pulled him close, her heart beating fast as she smelled his Gravity cologne and felt his body close to hers once more. She shivered as she felt his warm breath on her neck, followed by his lips, slowly making his way up her neck.
"Brian," Kris moaned. Brian looked down into her eyes, full of desire as she brushed his lips. When they finally pulled back, Brian smiled at Kris.
"Wow. It never fails to amaze me how much of an effect you have on me, but we better stop now. Kevin is downstairs, I think-" Kris giggled, imagining the look on Kevin's face if he heard them.
"You're
right, hon. Maybe we'll just have to make him stay at the apartment one of these
days." The tension that had been growing between them for months was so
obvious and you couldn't miss the way the air crackled with emotion whenever
they were near each other. As much as she wanted to, something inside Kris was
hesitant to further their relationship that much.
She hugged Brian close, relieved things were okay, for now, but something deep
inside her was saying it wasn't going to be like that for long. Soon her thoughts
drifted back to the man holding her, finding crystal blue eyes looking down
at her curiously.
"What are you thinking about?" Brian asked, pulling her into his room and closing the door. Kris' blue eyes twinkled as he sat on the bed and pulled her down with him.
"About how lucky I am to have the most understanding boyfriend in the world," Kris replied as Brian wrapped his arms around her waist. Kris turned, so she was laying on his tummy, and teased, "And that he has the most gorgeous blue eyes in the world.. except for AJ, when he has his contacts in!" Brian grinned wickedly and started tickling her.
"Oh really? Is there something between you and AJ I should know about?" Brian teased as Kris giggled and tried to squirm out of his grasp.
"Brian, stop! Okay, I give in, your eyes are the best!" she gasped between giggles, smiling at his laughing face as he sat on her stomach. "No, there's nothing you should worry about, but get off, you're heavy!" she added, trying to push him off.
"I can make you forget that," Brian whispered, leaning so his face was just inches from hers.
"Yeah, how?" Kris whispered back, feeling her heart again start thundering as she ran her hands over his bare chest. She felt him tremble under her touch as he whispered, "I'll show you." Brian brushed his lips over her neck, lightly planting kisses along Kris' jaw. He paused right above her lips, and Kris felt lost in the pools of deep blue. Kris smiled, running a hand through Brian's damp golden curls, then pulled is head down so their lips touched. The explosions of emotion Brian felt shocked him to the core, for he'd never felt anything quite like this as Kris ran her hands over his body. All of a sudden, there was a loud knock, and Kevin stepped in.
"Yo, B-Rok have you seen-" The question died on his lips as he caught sight of them on the bed.
"Oh sh*t man, sorry!" Kevin mumbled, his face turning a bright shade of red as he turned and practically ran out the door, closing it behind him. Kris looked up at Brian and they started laughing hysterically.
"Oh man, the look on his face! I don't think I've ever seen him so embarrassed!"
"Priceless!"
Kris agreed, sitting up, "but I think he had something important to say,
from the look on his face." Brian sighed, then grinned brightly at Kris,
pulling her out the bedroom door, in search of the mortified Kevin. *
Around 12 PM, Kris found herself driving around mindlessly, thinking about her
parents and her current situation. The loud ringing of her cell phone startled
her out of her thoughts, and she flipped it open.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's me! I was wondering where you are! I called B-Rok and he said you left half an hour ago."
"Hey
Cora, I'm okay, just trying to find somewhere to think. I told them, everything,
Ra! Brian wants me to invite mom and dad to the party tomorrow." Kris heard
a gasp from the woman on the other end, then pausing to tell Nina in the background.
Kris started laughing when Na exclaimed, "She told them what? They..he
wants who to come? Oh boy.."
Nina was giving Cora a look that said, "Are you serious?" Nina ran
a hand through her blond strands, then took the phone from Cora.
"Kris, do you really want them to come? You haven't seen them-" Na trailed off as she heard Kris sigh.
"I don't know, Na! I'm not sure. Then this whole thing with Josh-" Na stiffened, remembering Cora's late night phone call.
"Speaking of Josh. Kris, you need to talk to Cora," she said, glancing at Cora, whose face was quivering with a little fear, and hate.
"Oh L*rd, what did he do? He didn't try anything, did he?" Kris started swearing, then slowly calmed when Cora got back on, sounding nervous, and scared. *
