Chapter 2 - Bright Lights in the Distance
Inside Crystal's mind, she heard Nick's pleas, his cries for her. Inside she was dying to open her eyes. Far in the distance she saw a bright light. A voice called to her. She walked closer and saw a beautiful girl dressed in white.
"Who are you?" Crystal asked.
"I'm Jamie, remember me? I fed you."
"Oh yeah, I do. but what are you doing here?
"I didn't make it. When they found me I was too far gone, they couldn't save me. The hard part was seeing my mom cry when she heard the news." "I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I am here to help you once again."
"How?"
"You see Nick, you hear him don't you? And Brian. And the rest."
"Yes."
"Go to them. They need you."
"I know, but what about you? Will you be okay?" "Hmm, yeah, don't worry about me. I am here with my father and that's where I belong."
"Thank you Jamie."
"You're welcome Crystal, now GO!"

Crystal walked back and opened her eyes. She saw Nick crying in a chair,
his hand resting on her bed. She moved her hand a bit and covered it with
hers. Nick jumped up and saw her staring at him.
"Crystal?" She tried to smile. Nick pushed the nurse button. The lady came
in.
"Yes Mr. Carter..... oh you're awake?" She asked.
"Could you remove this?" He asked referring to the respirator. "Yes." The
nurse removed it, checked her vitals and gave her pain meds. One finished,
she left with orders from Mr. Carter to call his friends.
Once alone, he kissed her on the lips.
"I'm glad you came back to me."
"I love you Nick." she said with a whisper.
"I love you too."
"Where is Jamie?!" Crystal asked hoping the dream she had was just a dream.
"Baby, Jamie didn't make it." Crystal frowned. A tear slid down her cheek.
The girl was so young.
"What about the me.....?"
"They were caught."
"Oh." she said glad she would be able to sleep at night.
"Crystal?"
"I know it's only been 3 months since we got together, but I love you alot,
and through this time I realized I couldn't live without you. Will you marry
me?"
Just before Crystal could give an answer, Nick's cell phone rung.
"Hello?"
"Hey, how's everything goin?" JC asked.
"It's going smoothly." Nick said.
"That's kewl." Justin said.
"Well, we just wanted to wish you the best." Chris said.
"Okay, here's Crystal." Nick handed her the phone while she talked to them.
When she was finished, she shut off the phone and turned to Nick. "Yes I
will marry you." He breathed a sigh of relief. He reached over to her and
slippped the ring on her finger.
"I love you Crys."
"I love you too Nick."
