Chapter 4

"Grace, can you hear me?"

Faith let out a frustrated groan and slammed her fist on the door when her twin refused to answer her. She grabbed a strand of her hair in each of her hands, and resisted the urge to pull.

"Grace!" she shouted. "I need you to come out right now, I'm not kidding."

"Why?"

"I have to pee, why do you think?" Faith retorted. It was silent in the bathroom of the small hotel room.

"Go to Hope's room," Grace suggested.

"What are you doing in there?" Faith exclaimed. "Let me in!"

When Grace still refused to open the door, Faith hit the door one more time and turned around.

"See if I ever return the favor!" she shouted sarcastically on her way out the door.

"Hope? Are you in there?" she called through the door. "I really need to use your bathroom…"

The door opened, and Faith let out a relieved sigh before pushing past her cousin and into the room.

"Hello to you, too, Faith," Hope laughed. "How do you spell relief?"

"P-E-E," Faith laughed as she emerged from the bathroom looking much more relaxed. "Grace is in one of her moods."

Faith flopped onto one of the beds and stretched out. "Where's Des and Prom?" she questioned.

"I have no clue," Hope answered. "Probably looking for guys."

"Right," Faith said, nodding. "Why would I even ask that?"

"Don't ask me," Hope shrugged, plopping next to her.

"In less than a day we'll be relaxing on the beach, playing sand volleyball with some major hotties," Faith said dreamily, changing the subject to her four best friends' and her summer trip to the island. "Uncle Derek actually rented out a beach house for us so we don't have to live in separate condos."

"He's so cool," Hope agreed. "We're so lucky. Now if we can just meet some

really cool guys…"

"We will," Faith said surely. Hope laughed.

"Two month flings are not acceptable, Faithie," she teased.

"I do NOT have flings," Faith protested. "They're relationships."

Hope laughed again. "Relationships that end very quickly."

"So?"

"Try to meet a guy that you like enough to spend a lot of time with. A guy that you don't get bored of after awhile," Hope pleaded. "Someone who you can maybe spend the rest of your life with."

It was Faith's turn to laugh. "I'd rather meet a guy like that back home rather than on an island, when he could live 2,000 miles away from me," she pointed out. "Besides, it's not like those relationships were bad for me or anything."

"Still," Hope said. Sitting up as she glanced at the clock, she said, "We have to catch a plane in an hour. Wanna leave now?"

"Why not?" Faith agreed and stood up.

"I'll get Grace, you find Destiny and Promise?" Hope asked, and Faith nodded. The two parted, going their separate ways. Faith made her way down to the lobby of the hotel, her eyes on the lookout for her best friend, Destiny, and her sister's best friend, Promise. Soon she spotted a head of curly black hair, and walked faster to catch up with Destiny.

"Des!" she called. "Wait up!"

Destiny turned around and smiled. "Hey, girl," she greeted Faith, wrapping her in a hug. "What's up?"

Faith hugged her back, feeling a sudden rush of love for her best friend, who she had known for five years.

"Where's Promise?" she questioned, looking around.

"Here I is," a small voice piped up to the side of the girls. Faith and Destiny both turned their heads to see Promise, a petite girl with chocolate brown eyes and golden brown skin. Her medium length brown hair was tied in braids, with beads at the ends. She was a classic beauty. A hyper, classic beauty.

"I got two pickles, I got two pickles," she chanted. "I got two pickles, hey, hey, hey!"

Destiny looked at Faith and rolled her eyes.

"Okay, not that the Little Rascals kick is OVER," she hinted. "We have to get our bags and get to the airport, then we only have three hours until we're chilling in Maui!"

Faith and Promise squealed in anticipation.

"Let's go!" Faith urged.

The three girls turned around and made their way to the elevator, giggling and talking in a girlish manner.

Back with the Boys, Brian smiled for the first time in weeks when he learned that they were going to be staying at a Hawaiian island called Maui. If he didn't meet Faith there, at least he would get a couple months off. He had realized that he wasn't living up to his own motto, 'Live each day to the fullest.' He had most certainly not been living each day as if it were his last. Brian woke up one morning and thought of his plan. Leighanne wasn't the worst person under the sun. In fact, she had some fine qualities about her. It wouldn't be that bad to marry her- if he didn't meet Faith.

Faith, she was something different, in her own words. He didn't even need to know what she looked like to know she was beautiful. And he found himself wanting to see her and talk to her more every day.

But if he didn't before September 2nd, he'd marry Leighanne.
