Chapter 1

Rain pounded harshly against the window. The storm looked as if it would never stop. Brian sighed as he backed away. Looking down, he rejoined the others on the couch.

"Well, it looks like swimming is out of the question." He said, motioning outside.

A.J. sank lower in the seat next to him.

"This sucks! This place only has outside activities-" his words were cut off by Howie.

"Stop complaining! We're here for two weeks, I doubt it's going to rain the whole time." He replied, raising a cheerful smile.

Only a few hours earlier the boys had arrived at the beach house. It wasn't theirs, but it belonged to a friend of a friend and since they had two weeks off before starting the American tour, they decided to give it a try. The house was beautiful, and it had plenty of room for the five of them. A private beach that it shared with the neighboring house surrounded it. But no one appeared to be using the house next to them, so the boys were ready to enjoy a few days to relax.

" The storm seems to be slowing down a little bit." Kevin said to break the silence of the other four.

His words lingered, but only until another thunder crash echoed throughout the living room and the sky returned to its unwanted darkness.

"Sure." Nick replied. His voice was sarcastic and he could tell that Kevin, who gave him a scowering glance, did not appreciate it. He continued, never the less.

"What now captain?" He said, saluting the now very annoyed Kevin. " It was your idea to come here."

" Look," Kevin took a deep breathe, " for one thing, we all agreed to spend the two weeks here, and second, it's getting late, why don't we just go to bed; the storm will be gone by morning." Kevin glanced towards where Nick sat. He had his legs pulled up to his chest, pouting.

" I second that," Brian patted Nick's back as he rose from where he was seated, " I'm tired anyways."

With a long exaggerated sigh, A.J. followed behind Brian upstairs to the bedrooms. Howie walked over to the windows, and obviously not happy with what he saw, he too made his way upstairs.

Nick still sat in his huddled position, but seeing as how the others had left, he slowly got up, and dragged his feet behind him, as he walked up the circling stairway. He would usually have said one last comment, but seeing as how Kev was already extremely annoyed with him, he held back.

Kevin waited till Nick was out of sight to get up. He shut the windows surrounding the room, and went upstairs. He could tell these two weeks were going to be extra long. It will be better tomorrow, he thought.
