Chapter 6

"So anyway," A.J. continued his story as he grabbed another slice of pizza. Everyone listened and when he finished they all laughed and he sat back down in the sand. For the past hour, the six had been outside on the beach with their pizza, talking about everything from Nick's obsession with video games to how much they all loved being on a real vacation. The Boys had been very interested about where Sierra lived and what she enjoyed doing; so she told them, and the group talked on and on about useless chitchat.

Sierra sat Indian-style on a log between Brian and Howie. She remained calm around the guys, but still could not believe that she was in the same ten-feet as them; and even more, she still did not understand why Nick, Brian and A.J. were all flirting with her.

"Don't believe a word of it, Sierra!" Nick commented on A.J.'s story. "He's such a liar!" He stopped, allowing A.J. to make a face at him. "You didn't do any of that!" Nick let out a conceded laugh.

"Yeah Bone, I'd have to agree with Nick on that one!" Howie stated, then quickly added, "…but don't worry 'bout it buddy, it was funny never-the-less!" He comforted his friend.

"Nobody understands me." A.J. threw his head in his arms, pretending to cry.

"Awww!" Sierra leaned forward to pat him on the head. "Poor baby!"

Everyone laughed, and Brian pulled her back down next to him. "You just can't play along with him like that!" He scolded jokingly. "It just makes it worse!" He laughed.

Nick watched A.J. jump up and pretend to 'duke-it-out' with Brian. Howie said something to Sierra and the two cracked-up, and then continued to watch Brian swinging his arms at A.J., who was dodging him by jumping back and forth. Nick continued to watch Sierra laugh, and he wished he had sat next to her.

"Ok, ok…stop!" Sierra stood up between the two of them and pushed their raised hands down to their sides.

"HEY! I was winning!" Brian pleaded as Sierra took his right hand and A.J.'s left and led them both back to where the group sat. They walked behind her with their heads bowed. It was obviously staged, so Sierra played along.

"Now I want you two to sit down and think about what you did." She let out a little smile, but tried to act as serous as possible. Brian and A.J. looked at each other. "YES MOMMY!" They both squealed in unison. Sierra turned around to see them ducking down to hide from her. She burst out laughing and fell backward next to Nick in the sand. Everyone else joined in laughing and A.J. and Brian sat up, smiling.

The outburst was stopped by a loud crash of thunder. Before anyone had time to react, a downpour engulfed them. They all jumped up.

"Let's get back to the house!" Kevin screamed as they all gathered up the pizza boxes and made a mad-dash for the guys' porch. They all entered the house laughing and soaked from head-to-toe.

"I sure didn't see that one coming!" Howie commented as he squeezed his T-shirt, adding to the giant puddle on the floor around him.

Nick brushed his wet hair back upon his head. "I feel like a freakin' drowned rat!"

"Yeah, you look like one too!" Kevin laughed, only to see Nick sticking out his tongue at him in return.

"I'd better get back over there before it gets any worse!" Sierra looked out the window, trying to see her own house, but could hardly make out the porch.

"Maybe you should wait a while." Howie joined her by the window. "It looks really bad out there."

"Yeah," Brian added looking up at her. "You can stay here till it blows over." He smiled at the thought of her staying longer. The rest of the guys nodded in agreement.

"Just hang out here for a while, we won't let A.J. tell anymore of his stories, I promise!" Laughed Nick.

"Thanks guys. You really don't mind?" Sierra questioned. They were all so nice she thought. Still not fully okay with the fact that she was spending the day with the Backstreet Boys.

"Are you kidding?" Kevin reassured her. "What makes you say that?" At the question, they all looked at her.

" Oh…nothing…" she blushed. "I just thought that maybe you guys might be annoyed with me by now."

"WHAT?!" A.J. screeched.

"Yeah, really Sierra! You're awesome!" Brian laughed. He couldn't believe that she thought she was annoying them! " If you wouldn't have come over today," he paused. " …We would've probably been annoying you by showing up at your house or something!" He stated half joking/half serious.

Sierra looked down at the floor, obviously embarrassed.

"Um…" Nick broke the silence. " You look a little wet," he laughed. " Do ya want something dry to change into?"

"That'd be great!" Sierra said, looking at her wet clothes.

"We ALL look a little wet, Frack!" Brian walked over to Sierra. "Come on," he grabbed her hand. "You can borrow some of my stuff." He led her over to the stairs, followed by the other guys.
