Chapter 14
2:40pm
"Shouldn't they be here by now?" Nick whined, looking impatiently at Sierra's
house, then back at the food on the blanket in front of him.
"Chill Nick, you'll be able to eat soon enough." Howie grinned at Nick.
"Shut-up!" Nick defended himself. "I'm hungry!" He whined again.
"Why doesn't that surprise me?" Kevin laughed as he joined the others on
the beach.
"Hey!" Brian threw a volleyball at A.J., who was standing down by the water.
It hit him smack on top of his head, which Brian was not expecting. A.J.
cursed something and stormed up to Brian, who was holding his hands up in
defense.
"Sorry man! I didn't mean for it to hit ya like that." Brian pleaded, but
was obviously holding back his laughter. The other three guys chuckled under
their breath.
"Yeah f*cking right Rok!" A.J. rubbed his head. "That really hurt." He glared
at Brian.
"Look, I'm sorry! I really didn't mean to…I swear!"
A.J. decided not to go any further, even though his head did hurt a lot.
"Alright fine. So why exactly did you throw it at me anyways?"
"Oh..." Brian paused, trying to remember his question. "I was just wondering
when you said Sierra was coming."
"Two-thirty." He snapped.
"Are you sure? It's already quarter to three." Howie glanced at his watch.
"What?" A.J. walked over to where Howie sat and grabbed his arm, attempting
to read the time for himself.
"That can't be right, she said she'd be home by 2 o'clock and then out here
by two-thirty." He looked at the others questioning.
"Well, nobody's came back to the house yet." Kevin spoke up. "It's really
easy to see any cars coming on that rode up there." Kevin motioned
up the beach to the single road that led out to civilization. "I've been
watching…no one's come yet."
