Chapter 1

I woke up at 7:00 this morning. I showered and ate as usual. I walked into a bedroom that I had turned into my surveillance room. I lived in a 2-bedroom apartment, but with only me living there and with my job, I only needed one.

I sat in my chair and turned on the 6 monitors. “Good morning Brian.” I sipped my ice tea. I watched Brian stretch as he got out of bed. “You are too fine for your own good!” Yes, I had become slightly attracted to him, just slightly. Can you tell? I watched as Brian headed for the bathroom. I turned off that monitor. I did give him his privacy. OK, I know you’re thinking that’s hypocritical, but I do draw the line some where and that’s tapping his house and watching him shower and change. I just can’t do it.

Ring Ring.

“Hello?” I answered my cell phone. It was the only phone I used.

“Why are you still at home?” It was my boss, well so to speak.

“Brian’s in the shower.” I turned the monitor on and put in a tape. I pushed record and walked to my room. It had an open suitcase on the bed. “I’m packing now.”

“So who’s watching Brian?”

“I’m taping it. Relax, I’ve been doing this for 8 years now. Must I remind you everyday?”

“No you mustn’t. I’m just checking. Do you have all your badges and equipment?”

“Yes. I never forget any thing do I? No! You need to let me do my job.” I packed a backpack full of my equipment and finished packing my clothes in my suit case.

“You better be glad you’re good otherwise we would have tracked you down already!”

“I’m sure, but you know. I could have done the same to you.” I went to my office and typed up some stuff. Then I faxed it. “In fact I did.” I hung up the phone with a smile on my face. “I’m so good.” I looked at the monitor. “Well, well, well. Brian we have a long day a head of us.” I walked back into my room and picked out something to where. I put on a pair of black jeans and a black v-neck tee. I put on my metal ball chained necklace that hung down a little ways past my chest. I always hung my badges from there. Not only that, I loved that necklace. I put my hair up in a ponytail and hung my sunglasses from my chain. I grabbed my bags and put them in front of the door. I put my shoes on and then grabbed my laptop. And before I left I went to my car to pug it in and set it up so that I could watch Brian on the tour bus. Yes I put cameras on the tour bus; I’m just good like that. I was forced to tap it, too. My boss said either the bus or his house. I really didn’t like the idea, but I guess that’s the only way you can get really good information.

Brian

“What a morning.” I stretched as I woke up. I had a great sleep. I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. I heard a strange beep, but I just ignored it. I figured I was just hearing things. I took off my boxers and got into the shower. It was a great way for me to wake up. “I have to remember I’m meeting the guys in one hour.” I talk to myself sometimes. I’m OK, really. I just need to remind myself of things.

I climbed out of the shower and got dressed. Then, I towel dried my hair and brushed it. I went down stairs and got me something to eat. Tyke was at my heels following me. I was going to miss him. My neighbors, whom I trusted, said they’d watch him. I poured him some dog food. He ate like no tomorrow. I laughed; he always ate like that. I did too sometimes. I looked at my watch. I’m late! Kevin is gonna kill me! I threw the rest of my cereal down the drain and quickly washed it. I put my stuff away, normally I would have left it, but with how long I’ll be gone, it would have been ruined when I got back. I ran up stairs and grabbed my bags. Then, ran out to my car and put them in it. I ran back in and grabbed Tyke, his food, bed and a few of his favorite toys. I took I him to my neighbor’s and thanked him for watching Tyke. I ran back to my car and booked to Kevin and his bud’s apartment.

“Well, Brian aren’t we in a rush?” I watched Brian as I sat a little ways away from the tour bus in front of his cousin’s apartment. I watched Brian run around like a chicken with his head cut off. Finally he was off. Not too long after I looked in my rear view mirror to see him speeding up the road. He jumped out. I cracked my car window and turned on my tape recorder while I listened to him plead. He really was a cute groveled. He He.

“Kevin, I’m really sorry, when I got up I had plenty of time, but I don’t know where it went!” Brian was talking to Kevin as he pulled his bags out of his car and put them into the bus’s luggage compartment. He took one bag on with him. I saw the Jeep’s light’s flash as he locked it by remote control.

I figured I wait about 20 minutes before I took off so they didn’t think I was following them, even though I was. I headed for the interstate and soon spotted the bus. I stayed a good 3 of 4 cars back at all times. I turned the radio on low. Brian really can be boring sometimes. He's just sitting on the couch sleeping. Oh well, the poor thing stayed up late.

“Yo Rok. Wake up man.” I looked down at my computer to see Nick shaking Brian’s shoulder. I looked back at the road and continued to listen. I picked up my recorder with one hand and made sure the volume was up. I set it back down next to the laptop.

“What?”

“I wanna play you on this new video game I got.”

They played for a little while and then they stopped to fill the gas tank up on the tour bus and get snacks. I decided to fill mine up too. Who knows when we’ll be stopping again. I watched the boys walk inside. I leaned against my car and waited for it to fill.

“Look it’s the Backstreet Boys bus! I’m sure of it!” About 50 girls started to swarm the bus.

“They just pulled up so they’re still inside.” The girls tried to get a look inside the bus.

I casually made my way toward the building. I looked around. I spotted the guys spread out. Brian was safe. I put a baseball cap on and adjusted my sunglasses. I walked over to Nick who was by himself. I never looked up at him.

“Nick.”

“What? Do I know you?” He tried to get a better look at me.

“Look outside.”

He gave me a funny look then looked out. “Woah! Where did they come from?”

“I don’t know, but they think you’re on that bus. They think all of you are. I’m going to help you other wise you’ll never make it out.”

“Why?”

“Don’t ask questions. Now go tell the others, then I’m going to distract the girls and you guys get on that bus and high tail it out of here.” I walked away. I looked back and saw him walking over to Brian. I walked outside. I headed for an alley in-between the gas station and another building.

I whistled REALLY loud. I got every girl’s attention. “You want the Backstreet Boys?”

“Yeah!”

I pointed down the alley. “They ran down there. You guys got here a few minutes after them.”

“I told you they weren’t on there.” The girls started arguing.

“Girls…they’re getting away.”

They ran over to me. “Why aren’t you running after them?”

“Eh…not a fan.” I shrugged and walked towards my car.

“Lets go girls.” They ran down the alley.

I ran to the gas station. “Nick…move it…NOW!” I pointed over my shoulder towards the bus.

The other guys ran past me. Nick stayed behind. “How can we thank you?”

I smiled. “By getting your butt on that bus! They’ll be back any moment!”

He kissed my cheek and ran for the bus. “Thanks. We’ll never forget this!” He yelled as he climbed up the bus steps.

“Hey!” The girls came back up the same alley as the boys sped off. I’ll catch up.

“They went around I guess.” I shrugged and climbed in my car. I smiled the whole time.

I followed far behind the guys. I pulled my hat off and threw it in the back seat.

“That was really nice of her. Who was she?” AJ sat on the couch where Brian was sitting earlier.

“Got me. She kept telling me not to ask questions just do what she said.” I laughed a Nick. He made me sound like a general.

“I wish we could have thanked her. That was really nice.” I smiled at Brian’s comment.
