Chapter 5

"Well, do you want to go out some time…like a date." I looked over at him when we came to a red light. He was staring at his hands. He left himself so vulnerable to me. Like an open wound and a kid with lemon juice in one hand and a bottle of cold water in the other.

What am I supposed to say to that? Can can't very well get involved with him, then again I can't turn him down. It could ruin everything either way! Oh, why didn't I just go for Case #2 and follow Joey Fatone? No I had to go with Case #5; Brian Littrell. 'He'll be easy,' I said. 'He won't be a problem for me.' I was so wrong!

"Sure." I smiled sweetly. Here goes everything!

His blue eyes sparkled as he looked over at me. "Really? I mean you paused so long I was beginning to think you didn't like me."

"No, I just, it's hard for me to date people with my job. I don't have the most willing boss in the world."

"Well we'll have to keep it down low now won't we?" He smiled.

"Yeah." I looked up and it was turning red again. "We missed the green light." I laughed.

"It's OK." He leaned back in his chair, content with the way things were going tonight.

"The rest of the Backstreet Boys are going to think I kidnapped you." I took off when the light turned green.

"So let them." He shrugged. "It would add a little excitement in an other wise pretty dull day. You were definitely the high light."

"Aww. What about your fans?"

"They're great. I love them, but when you can't talk to them it can get lonely." He sighed and then shrugged. "It's nice to actually talk to someone with out my fame being thrown back in my face and asked for autographs."

"So you do get tired of all the attention?" I can use this information!

"Noooo! I love it." He laughed. "I'm such a big ham I can't get enough of it, but it is nice not to be screamed at."

I pulled up to his hotel and put the car in park. "Here's your stop." I smiled.

"You wanna come in?" He climbed out.

"Nah, I'll see you tomorrow though. Nick's got something wrong with his computer so I gotta come fix it. I'll be here around 10."

"OK, see ya then." He shut the door and waved me off.

I waited until I was out of Brian's view then I picked up my cell and called my boss.

"Hello?" He sounded groggy. "Don't you sleep?"

"Not when I have a crisis on my hands! Brian asked me on a date! I'm going on a date with Brian! I'm flipping out! I don't know how to handle this! Do you know how long it's been since I've been on a date? And I've never been on a date that was business for me and pleasure for him! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO BE DOING?"

"Calm down. You're going to have to deal with this rationally. You're now entering Phase 3…"

"What? I just entered Phase 2 how can I be in Phase 3?"

"Well you're now going on a pleasure date. That means he has feelings for you, which you're going to have to reciprocate to him."

"OK." I was calming down.

"Phase 3 isn't all that bad. You're the only one in it, but this could also bring us the best information. I called the 'BOARD' after I hung up with you and they have prepped me on how to help you threw this. As long as you keep it professional in you mind it should work. Now what are you doing tomorrow?"

"I'm recording one of the guys radio interviews then I have to fix Nick's computer."

"Why?"

"I think he's on to me. I don't think he quite knows but he doesn't believe I'm who I say I am and I think this is some sort of test at my own game…frankly I'm ready to be challenged. It will take my mind off this whole Phase 3 crap."

"Well get some rest and call me when you get the chance. Preferably not at 2 am!" He hung up just as I pulled up to the hotel parking lot. I parked my own car, (I don't like other people driving my car.) and went in side.

"Evening miss." The doorman smiled.

"Night." I nodded and walked into the elevator.

When I got to my room and changed in to my yellow and blue flannel pants and yellow sleeveless shirt I checked my email. I got some e-mails form my mom, a couple dozen form my boss and even one from my ex. I'll delete that one! Oh forget it I'm not reading any tonight. I left the e-mail alone for one night in my life and set up my radio recorder to 8am when the guys were gonna be on. I crawled into bed and fell fast a sleep.

Ring Ring

"Hello?" Groggy I picked up the hotel phone.

"The time is 12:25pm."

Snap! I forgot I had to be at Nick's at 10! He's gonna think I chickened out. I ran into the bathroom and showered before rushing around to get dressed. I grabbed my purse and stuffed my laptop into its carrier before running out the door.

I sped up to the hotel in record time. I ran up to the hotel and up to the elevator.

"Miss, you can't go through there. It's restricted." A man in a suit stood in front of me.

"I have to see Nick Carter! I'm suppose to fix his computer." The man gave me a 'Sure whatever' look 'I've heard it all before' look.

"So ask him! Ask him about a Veronica and if he says no ask about a V and then I'll go quietly!"

The man rolled his eyes and went to the phone behind the counter. "Hello Mr. Carter? Yes I'm sorry to disturb you, but there is a young girl by the name of Veronica or V claming that she is to fix your computer. Yes. You're welcome sir. Good day sir." He hung up the phone and started shuffling papers.

I looked at him like 'what the heck are you doing? I'm still standing here!'
