Chapter 18

"This house is gorgeous!" I exclaimed walking into the living room
with Nick not too far behind.

"Don't you think this place is a little big for you?" Nick asked as
he was checking out the fireplace.

"First of all, there would always be people over. You know that. And
I also have to talk to you about something a little later." I turned to
Miranda. "I think this place is great, but I'm definitely gonna have to
think about it."

"No problem. Take your time." We left the house and said our
goodbyes. I should come up with a decision in a fay or two. I couldn't
stop thinking about the house. There were two floors and a finished
basement. The place was very spacious and there were about 12 rooms or
more all together. There was an inground pool in the back and not much
lawn. That was good. I'm not too good at mowing and tending to the lawn.
Overall, the place was beautiful and I wouldn't mind moving in tomorrow.
Except, I knew that house was way too bug for just me. Glancing over at
Nick driving, I decided to ask him now.

"Nick?" I asked.

"Yeah?" He asked not taking his eyes off the road.

"What'd you think of the place?"

"It was really nice. You could do a lot there, but I still think
it's too big for you." He said glancing at me.

"That's why I want to ask you to move in with me." I said bluntly
not even really thinking twice about it.

"Lindsay, I don't know." He said a little uneasy.

"C'mon. I don't wanna live by myself. Plus, you need to move into
your own place and it would be easier if we both lived in that one
house." I paused. "You don't have to answer me now. I don't expect you
to. Just think about it and let me know as soon as possible." I finished
and he pulled up to my house.

"OK. I'll think about it and let you know." I smiled when I heard
him say that. "Now gimme a kiss." I smiled again and leaned in to kiss
him. I pulled away and walked into the house quickly to tell my mom about
the house.

~20 Minutes Later~

"You want him to move in with you?!" My mom practically screamed.

"Mom, you don't wan me to live alone. You told me that when I
started looking for a place. And you know Nick will take care of me." I
tried convincing her.

"I don't know." She said shaking her head.

"Well, just think about it." I said and left the kitchen table
heading towards my room. For some reason my phone was missing. I pulled
out my keyboard and began to play. I heard a knock on my door and my
brother came in with the phone in his hand.

"It's loverboy!" My brother said in a girly voice batting his
eyelashes.

"Get a life, Nick!" I yelled at my brother. He dropped the phone and
I walked over and picked it up. "Hello?" I asked with not much
enthusiasm.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing." I said trying to avoid the question. "Do you have a
verdict already?" I asked a little surprised to hear from him so soon.

"No. I brought the idea up with my parents and I don't think they're
too thrilled."

"Yeah, I know what you mean. My mom is thinking about it now." We
talked for a little while longer, but I finally got tired, so he let me
go.

I immediately changed into boxers and a t-shirt and got comfy in
bed. I laid there for a little while thinking if asking Nick to move into
that house with me was a bad idea. Then I heard a knock on my door. "Come
in." My mom walked in and closed the door behind her. I reached over and
turned on the lamp beside my bed. "What's up?" I asked sitting up.

"Well, Sammy and I were talking about the whole new house thing."
She said.

"And?"

"We realize you wanna move out. You are almost twenty and there's
nothing wrong with that." My mom paused for a second. "You guys have been
friends for a long time now and you are pretty much inseparable. He's
almost like a second son to me and I think you are responsible. If living
with him will make you happy, then I think you should do it." She
finished. I can't tell if she really means it or not.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. Sign those papers and then get the hell outta my house." She
said pointing towards the door with a smile on her face. I laughed and
her and she hugged me. "My little girl is growing up." She said squeezing
me. She let go and smiled at me before she left the room. That night I
slept like a baby thinking of how it would be with just Nick. Now all I
had to do was hope Jane would let Nick move in with me...
