Chapter 10

Back at the hotel and in my room I was trying to find the perfect outfit for Nick's and my last night together in the big city of San Francisco. I was trying my best not to get depressed, but it wasn't working too well. I finally just decided to sit on my bed and rest for awhile, and then get up and get dressed for the evening. As I lay down I began to think of all the things that were happening in my life. About how great Nick was, how I didn't want to leave him although I knew I had to, and last but definitely not least my mother. Why was my mother so cruel to me? I had never done anything to her, and yet she treated me horribly everyday of my life. This was all depressing me, so I did what I felt was the only thing left for me to do. I began to cry. Uncontrollable tears began pouring down my cheeks, and I buried my face into my pillow which soon became drenched. I cried for I don't know how long until I heard a soft tapping at the door.

"Yeah?" I said below a whisper.

"Can I come in?" Leighanne asked behind the door.

"Sure.." I said sitting up and wiping my tears away with the back of my hand.

"Hey.. What are you doing?" she asked as she walked into the room. Apparently my eyes were really puffy and red because she immediately ran over to the side of my bed and with a worried expression asked me what was wrong.

"Nothing.. Nothing at all." I smiled one of my fake smiles to let her know that everything was alright.

"I know I haven't known you for very long, and that we don't know each other very well, but trust me, I know when something is wrong. And right now I definitely know that something is wrong. Now, come on, girl, tell me everything."

I looked at her pleading face which was begging me for an answer. I couldn't hold it in anymore, so I broke down and began to sob again. Then slowly, stuttering, I told her what was bugging me. After I was finished she gave me a comforting hug and told me that everything would be alright.

"How is everything gonna be alright? My mother hates me!"

"You know you don't mean that. I am sure that inside her heart she lovesyou very much and is proud of you in everything that you have accomplished in your life."

"That's sounds so nice to hear, but I know that it isn't the truth. No one knows my mother the way I do, not even my father."

"OK, I am going to give you some advice, and I want you to listen very carefully to what I am going to say, alright?"

I nodded my head and she continued to speak.

"Right when you get home discuss this whole thing first with your father, and see what he thinks about it all. Then ask him about the whole moving out thing when school is over. And after you have discussed that go WITH your father and discuss this whole matter over with your mother. See what she thinks and then make your decision. How does that sound? Sound like a good idea?"

I thought this over for a few minutes and then said "It sounds like a great idea. Thanks Leighanne for your advice. I really appreciate it!"

"No problem hun."

I took a deep breath and heaved a sigh of relief. The first thing that I was going to do when I got home was do everything that Leighanne told me to do.

Her advice sounded like the best way to go.

"What was the real reason you came to see me anyways?"

"I just wanted to see what you were going to be wearing tonight. I bumped into Nick in the hallway and he said that you two were doing something special so I rushed right over to see if I could help with anything."

"Actually," I sighed looking at my suitcase "you can. I can't find a thing to wear. I want to look extra special for my last night with Nick, and--"

"Say no more!" Leighanne clasped her hands up into the air and "I have just the thing!" With that she ran out of the room.

I laughed and gave a questioning look to myself. I then walked to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, and my hair, and washed my face. I had taken a shower earlier that day so I was ready in that aspect. As I walked out of the bathroom Leighanne walked back into the room with a dress in her hands. I looked at it in awe and grabbed it from her hands looking it up and down. "Wow," was all I could say. "Is this yours?"

"Yes, it is. It's a new dress that I just bought before the trip. Try it on and see how it fits."

I quickly stripped down into my bra and underwear not embarrassed at all, since we were both girls and I felt completely comfortable around her. I took the dress off the hanger and slipped it over my head.

Leighanne looked me over and said "Perfect fit. It looks great on you."

I walked over to the mirror and looked at myself. There was no way that this was me. Not to sound conceited but I looked way too good for it to be me.

The dress that I was wearing was a burgundy/red color that reached to my knees. On the right corner of the dress there was a white flower embroidered on it, and it had three quarter length sleeves.

"You look sooo good!!!"

"Thanks!" I said twirling around. "Are you sure that it doesn't make my butt look too big?" I said inspecting my butt in the mirror, self-consciously.

"Like I said it looks great in every way! Actually, it looks so good on you that I want you to have it."

"What?" I asked in astonishment. "No, I couldn't accept it. I mean, it's sweet of you and all, but I don't---"

"Please take it," Leighanne insisted. "It's something to remember me by.

Take it, OK?"

"Well..."

"Please!?" she pleaded.

"Alright! Thanks so much Leighanne. I really love this dress..."

"And you should love it cause it looks great on you for the hundredth time!"

"But I don't have any shoes.." I whined.

"I have that problem solved too," she said with a smile. She grabbed a bag that she had set on the floor when she walked into the room and handed it to me.

"What's this?"

"Matching shoes. Do you like them?"

I pulled them out and they matched beautifully with the pretty outfit. "I love them! Let's hope they fit me!"

"What size to you wear?" she asked inspecting my foot.

"7 and a 1/2."

"Well, what do ya know? So do I!"

I tried them on and to my surprise they were a perfect fit. I couldn't believe how lucky I was.

"Thanks again, Leighanne!!"

"No problem. I am glad I could be of service. Now, go do your make-up and finish getting ready. I am going to go see what's up with Brian. Have fun tonight, but not TOO much fun!" she said in a motherly tone.

"Yes mother! I'll try to restrain myself."

And with that Leighanne turned and left my room leaving me to get ready.

Half an hour later my phone began to ring. I picked it up and Nick's cheerful voice greeted me for the second time that day.

"You ready yet?"

"Yes, oh impatient one!"

He laughed and said "Well, I have been ready for like the last hour. I just didn't call sooner because I knew for a fact that you wouldn't be ready."

"And how are you so sure?" I asked with a smirk.

"Because all girls are the same. And trust me I know a lot about girls. I have a younger sister back at home who is your age and she's just as bad as you."

"Hey!" I said in defense.

"Oh, its not a bad thing. Just a fact. Anyways, enough stalling, you ready or not Miss Wyman?"

"Ready Mr. Carter."

"I'll be at your door in two minutes. Time me if you want."

"That's alright, Nick. I trust you."

"Good. See ya in a few."

With that I hung up the phone and walked in front of the mirror where I checked myself one last time before I left for our last night together.

"This is so depressing!" I said putting some shiny strawberry lip gloss on my lips.

There was a knock at my door and I went to answer it. There stood a very handsome Nick all dressed up in a navy blue suit with a white shirt on the inside, with a matching navy blue tie, his hair was slicked back, and he was even wearing these cute black rimmed, blue tinted glasses that I was sure he borrowed from AJ. He leaned in and gave me a quick kiss on the lips, and he embraced me in his arms, not letting me go.

"Nick.. Your hurting me," I said trying to get out of his grasp.

"Oh, sorry babe. I guess I kinda got carried away. It's just that I've been thinking.."

"About what? Want to come in and talk about it?" I said opening the door wider for him to enter.

"No, let's get out of here. We'll talk about it in the car." He grabbed my arm and I barely had time to close my door before I was pulled violently all the way to Nick's green Durango.

"Is this a rental?" I asked as I got in.

"Yep, but it's the same car I have back home. I made sure to get this car."

"It's a beautiful car."

"Not half as beautiful as you."

I felt my cheeks begin to get flushed. Thank god it was dark in the car. I didn't want Nick seeing me getting all embarrassed. I just gave him a small smile in appreciation. Nick started the car up and screeched out of the parking lot.

"So, where are we going? Have any ideas?"

"None whatsoever. Let's just drive and see where the car takes us."

I nodded my head and stared out into the distance. My mind kept wandering back to the fact that Nick and I weren't going to be seeing each other for another few months. This only made me feel worse than I already was feeling. I think Nick noticed that I was sad about something because he kept giving me these questioning looks and pleaded to know what was bugging me. I just told him that everything was great, and that nothing was wrong. He seemed pretty satisfied with my answer because he just shrugged and continued driving. Just to let you know, I got an A in acting class.

"About what I was saying earlier.."

"Hmm?" I asked in a daze. I looked at Nick and then sat up and said

"Yeah! Um.. Uh, what was it that you wanted to talk about?"

"Well, the reason I wouldn't let go of you up at the hotel room when we were hugging is because I am afraid that after this night is over, you are going to go back home and maybe meet another guy. I am just really scared at what is going to happen to 'us'."

"Nick, nothing is going to happen to 'us,'" I said imitating him. "Nothing at all. We are still going to remain a couple until we see each other again. Which hopefully will be sometime soon."

"Maybe during the summer?" Nick said hopeful.

"Yeah, maybe.."

"Hey, do you want to go up to the spot that D showed us today and sit and talk?"

"Yeah, I'd love that."

As we drove in silence to our destination Nick came up with an idea of what we could eat that night. He wouldn't tell me what it was, but continued to drive around looking at all the passing shops. He was looking for something, but at that time I didn't know what it was. Finally we stopped at a market along the way and he quickly got out of the car and told me to stay put. I thought it was so cute the way he was acting. It just put a smile on my face. A few minutes later he piled into the car with one shopping bag in tow, and started the car back up heading to the romantic spot that I had fallen in love with earlier that day.

We arrived a few minutes later and we got out and looked out at the view of San Francisco during the night with the stars shining brightly above us. We got out of the car and Nick grabbed the bag and led me over to the spot which we had sat at earlier that day.

"What do you have in there?" I asked peeking into the bag. I didn't have time to make out what was in there, because Nick quickly pulled it away from me.

"Not so fast, missy! I'll show you what I bought once we sit down."

I ran over to the spot and sat down right away. I was in such a rush to see what he was planning.

"Someone's antsy!" he said making fun of me.

I just smiled and said "Come on, show me!"

He ran over to me and ordered me to turn around and close my eyes so that he could assemble everything. I did as I was told not wanting to waste any time.

When he told me to open my eyes I turned around and looked on the ground. There was: a checkered table cloth, two candles with matching candle sticks, packaged chicken, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, and cornbread from the deli, then for desert, chocolate chip cookies, along with milk, and to drink apple cider with some plastic cups. I looked at Nick, smiled, and then I have no idea why I did this, do not ask me because I still don't understand, I began to cry. I think I was overwhelmed by how thoughtful he was, how he knew all the right things to say and do to make a girl fall in love with him. When he saw me crying he looked around, not knowing what to do. I don't think he expected me to begin to cry. I kneeled down on the blanket, and he did the only thing that I think he felt he could do. He wrapped his arms around me and hugged me warmly. We were pressed so close together I could smell the scents of his cologne which I was almost positive was GAP CK1 for Men, and I could feel his cold breath on my neck. San Francisco got so cold at night it was ridiculous. And me of course, being the crazy person I am didn't bring a coat or jacket. Partially because nothing went with my new outfit, and partially because I had just plain forgotten. We pulled away from our hug, and Nick removed some of my tears with his thumb, and the other half with small kisses.

"What's wrong sweetie?"

"Nothing," I said sniffling. "Nothing at all. Everything is just perfect. This is very sweet of you Nick. Very, very sweet of you. I think that is the reason I am crying. I've never had a guy treat me like this, so this is all kind of new to me."

"So, you like it?"

"Like it?" I repeated. "Like it?" I said once more. "I don't like it, I love it!"

Then I paused looking him in the eyes and without even thinking of what I was about to say I blurted out "Not only do I love it, but I also love you."

Nick's eyes opened wide and he stared at me, not uttering a single word.

"Nick..? Does that come as a complete shock to you?"

"Actually... Not really, because I love you too."

I smiled and he continued.

"I've been thinking of the right way to tell you, but never could think of a single way."

"You love me too?" I asked making sure I wasn't hearing things.

"Yes, I love you Rebecca Wyman. I've always known I loved you, ever since the minute you walked into your father's office for our meeting. It just never really occurred to me how strong of feelings I have for you until today in your hotel room. That's when it finally hit me."

"Is that why you were so mad at AJ for putting the moves on me?"

He nodded and said "Now you know the reason. I know that Bone didn't know I loved you, because if he did I don't think he would have tried anything, but just seeing him with you, in the back of the tour bus on the way here hugging and all that shit really upset me."

"That's why you were so sad! Now I get it."

"And also, when you went on that date with AJ on Friday, that pissed me off too. I wanted to be the one to take you on a date, I wanted to be the one you were with, but it didn't work out that way, till' later on that night."

"Well, at least we talked the whole thing through on the beach, or else we wouldn't be sitting here right now."

"That's true."

"I have one question for you. How come you took so long to kiss me that night on the beach. I kept hoping inside of me that you would do it, but I started to get doubtful towards the end."

"It's because I wanted to see if you liked me. I didn't want to try and kiss you without making sure I was positive. But I was never really sure because you weren't showing many signs, so I just leaned in, and my lips did all the work."

"Along with mine," I corrected him.

"Yes, hun, along with yours. Now that we've had our little discussion, and we've claimed our love for each other," he said with a smile, and a chuckle "how about we eat what Chef Nickolas prepared for Madame Rebecca."

"Sounds good, Chef Nickolas."

I glanced around looking for forks and knives, but didn't find any so I asked

Nick if he had bought some.

"Shit! I knew I forgot something! I'm gonna run to the store real quick, and I'll be right back."

"No, please don't leave," I said unsure.

"We won't be able to eat without any silverware."

"We can use our fingers if necessary. Please don't leave, please?"

"What's wrong? Are you scared of something?"

"When we got out of the car I just thought I heard some noises in the bushes, and I don't want to be left alone." I huddled close to him for comfort.

"Alright, don't worry, I won't. I'm right here," he said kissing my forehead.

"Now, let's dig in. I'm so hungry!"

Nick opened the apple cider and poured two cups for each of us. We raised our glasses and Nick made a toast. "To the beautiful night," he said "and to my beautiful girlfriend, and love of my life, Rebecca." He had done it once again. He had complimented me, and made me blush with his sweet comment and again I could not think of a single nice thing to say back other than a plain and simple 'Thank you.'

We then each grabbed a chicken thigh and began to munch on the delicious food. It was pretty hard eating the mashed potatoes with gravy, and the corn but somehow we managed. God had given us fingers for one soul reason and we were making good use of them that night. We finally finished our meal, and Nick threw away all the trash in the 'Vons' bag. I laid down on the tablecloth which we were making as a blanket and grabbed my stomach. "I'm sooo full! Nick, you practically stuffed me to death!"

"You hardly ate a thing!"

"I ate plenty. Trust me."

"I ate ten times more than you."

"Yeah, well, I'm a girl and your a guy. Big difference there. It was really good though. I devoured a lot more than I usually eat."

"Good," he said satisfied. He laid on his side next to me and cupped one of his hands under his head in order to support the weight of his head, and looked me up and down.

"What is it, Nick?" I asked insecurely.

"Did I tell you that you look really, really, really good tonight?"

"No.."

"Well, then let me tell you. You look really, really, really good tonight."

"You don't look half bad yourself." Finally, I had thought of something nice to say! I gave myself props for that one.

"That's a beautiful dress you have on."

"I know, isn't it? Leighanne gave it to me tonight as a gift."

"How'd that happen?"

"I just couldn't find a thing to wear for the occasion, so she ran over to her room grabbed a dress and ordered me to put it on. She said that it looked good on me and said that she wanted me to have it."

"It doesn't just look good on you, it looks excellent."

"Yeah, well, the only thing that sucks is that this is such a dressy outfit for what we are doing."

"Well, if you want we can go to a club and dance or something."

"Again?"

"Hey, why not? I know you love to dance!" "That I do. Yeah, I wouldn't mind going clubbing."

"Should we invite everyone else to come with us? Or would you rather it be just us?"

"I think we should invite the others. We'll still get to be alone also, I just think it will be more fun with everyone else included."

"Your right. That's how clubs usually work out. I'll call them and see if they want to join us."

"Can I call?" I asked hopeful.

"Sure. Why not." He handed over his small compact phone to me and I dialed Brian's cell phone number. I sat up waiting for the phone to begin to ring since it took awhile to get connected, and Nick sat up next to me.

"Hello?" an out of breath Brian asked.

"Brian? Is that you?" I asked not very sure.

"Yeah," he said panting.

"What the hell were you doing!? Why are you so out of breath?"

"Um.. Uh.. Uh.."

"Is Leighanne there?" I asked pretty sure of what they were doing if she was.

"Yes, she is, and the reason I am out of breath is--"

"It's alright, Brian! I don't want to know!! REALLY!" I said practically yelling.

Nick looked at me questioningly, and I mouthed "I'll tell you later." I then focused my attention on Brian and said "The real reason I am calling is because I wanted to know if Leighanne and you would like to join us for a night of fun, adventure, and a little bit of dancing at the hottest club in town!"

"You sound like an advertisement," he said with a chuckle.

I laughed along with him and asked "So, do ya?"

"Hold up."

I then heard muffled voices talking to each other and then to me Brian said "Yeah, sounds good."

"OK, good. Can you ask the other guys if they want to also, and tell them to bring dates. Then call me back on Nick's phone to let us know what's up."

"OK, will do. Talk to you later."

"Later." With that I hung up the phone and explained to Nick why I was yelling. He just laughed, and made a disgusted face at the thought of Brian and Leighanne having sex.

"Well, that's most likely what they were doing!" I said.

"Yeah, I know, but that's my best friend your talking about! The thought is just disgusting."

"Yeah, I know." Then, under my breath I added "apparently my friends didn't think so..."

"Come again?"

Uh-oh, I think Nick had heard me.

"Um.. Nothing," I said trying to cover it up.

"Apparently your friends didn't think so? Why'd you say that?"

"No reason," I said removing my eyes off of him and looking around at the view.

"Come on, there was a reason or else you wouldn't have said anything. If you don't tell me you're not getting any chocolate chip cookies."

"Well, I don't want any chocolate chip cookies, Besides I'm too full" I said with a cocky grin on my face.

"But I slaved in the kitchen all day to make this masterpiece," he said holding up the packaged 'Keebler Elf' cookies so that I could see.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah," he said standing up right in front of me.

"Oh yeah?" I asked again.

"Yeah," he said kneeling down in front of me getting ready to kiss me.

"Oh yeah?" I asked once again.

"Yeah.." he said giving me a soft kiss on the lips, then gradually a full on one. He gently pushed down on my shoulders, and I laid back down on the tablecloth. Nick began to kiss my neck, and nibble my ears. He placed both of his knees on either sides of my hips, but was careful so as not to hurt me with the pressure of his weight on my body.

"Oh yeah?" I asked once again, teasing him.

"Yeah," he said below a whisper. I think he was too busy pleasuring me at the moment to respond fully. And pleasuring me, he was. He seemed to be very good when it came down to these things. He either had a lot of experience, or was a natural. I couldn't really decide which one. I just knew that he knew all the right things to do to make me feel good.

Nick lowered one of the sleeves of my dress so that my bra was visible, and began to roll the bra strap down with clenched teeth. He did the same thing with the other side also. Then, he began to lower my dress all the way down to my waist.

I knew where all this was headed, and I wasn't too sure if I was liking it. We were moving way too fast, and in a way it was all scaring me. I knew I wanted to have sex with him, but we had time for all that, and didn't need to rush into anything. But then again, we would be separated for about three months, so I needed to give Nick something to remember me by. My mind flashed back to when I found the condoms in my room the night before I was set to leave for this trip. My friends seemed quite intent for me to have sex with Nick that weekend, and I didn't want to leave them unsatisfied by coming back and telling them that we didn't do it.

He had now lowered the dress down to g-string Victoria's Secret panties that I was wearing. And yes, to answer your question that is probably going through your mind right now I wore the g that my friends had made me buy. I didn't expect Nick to actually be seeing it that night, but boy was I wrong. He smiled when he saw it, and gave me a devilish grin. He then slipped my dress off, and I was left with nothing on other than my bra, g-string panties, and my shoes; in the cold San Francisco weather. I was cold with the dress on, now, imagine me with it off! It was terrible.

He began to kiss my stomach which by that time had goosebumps all over it, and looked at my eyes for approval to go further. I knew he wanted to take my bra and underwear off, but I wasn't very sure. I wanted to have sex with him, but not for all the wrong reasons. He was pleading with his eyes for an answer, and I finally gave him one.

"I'm.. I'm.. Not.. Ready..."

His face sort of fell, and I could tell that he was disappointed, but because he is the biggest sweetheart in the world, and the most caring man that I had ever met he simply said "I understand."

He looked at me and noticed that I had goosebumps covering my whole body, and that I was shivering so he said "Oh, you poor baby. Your freezing. Here, put on your clothes."

I quickly put on my dress and felt a little bit better, but not much. I wrapped my arms around myself and began to rock back and forth trying to warm myself up.

"Let me help." He situated himself behind me, opening his legs for me so that I could sit in-between them, and so I could rest my elbows on his knees, and wrapped his big, strong, and muscular arms around me. He gave me a kiss on the cheek, and said "I'm sorry for pressuring you."

"You didn't pressure me. I let you take my dress off. I just realized that I wasn't ready."

"So, you've never had sex before?" he asked in disbelief.

"No.. How come your so surprised?"

"Because, I just thought that a beautiful girl like yourself would surely have gotten some action."

"Nope. None whatsoever. At least nothing like that. How about you? Have you had sex?"

He paused for a second and said "Yeah, I have. I hope you're not angry, because if you are, those girls really didn't mean anything to me, and--"

"Nick, I'm not mad. I like a more experienced guy. Maybe you can teach me a few tricks.." I said with a sly, devilish grin. The same exact one Nick had on his face earlier.

"That can be arranged."

"I'll let you know when I'm ready for your private tutoring lesson."

"Whenever you feel ready, I'll be here. No charge."

We then began to kiss, but were very rudely interrupted by the ringing of Nick's phone.

"Ugh!!!" Nick whined.

"I know, UGH!!"

Nick reached for his phone and answered it in a completely uninterested tone. A few minutes later he hung up the phone and said "It was Bri. He said that all the guys are up for that, they'll find dates, and meet us over there in 20 minutes."

"What time is it?"

Nick looked at his pager and said "12:04."

"Wow, we've been here for a long time."

"I know, huh? But, we better get going if we want to meet them in 20 minutes down at the wharf. It takes about 30 minutes to actually get there, so we'll have to drive fast."

"Well, you always drive fast so there won't be much of a difference there, now will there?"

"HAHA! So, funny," Nick said with a sarcastic voice.

I got up and folded the tablecloth, blew the candles out, and threw all of our trash away, and began to walk to the parked car.

"We didn't even get to eat my specially made cookies," Nick said pouting.

"We'll eat them later. We have the rest of the night together, we'll make time for the cookies," I said reassuringly. "You're such a baby!" I added.

Nick grabbed the remaining stuff and ran after me yelling "No, I'm not!"

"Your being childish right now!"

"No, I'm not!" he reassured me.

"Sure, Nick, whatever," I said laughing my ass off.

"Well, I'm not," he said giving me the sad, puppy dog face.

"Sure, uh-huh," I teased.

I got into the car, Nick placed the stuff in the back, and hopped in next to me backing out of the space.

"And just to let you know, I'm not a baby," he whined.

I just laughed, not saying anything, and let him drive.
