Chapter 4
Brian's View
"So what do you need help with?" I asked looking around her room.
"Um nothing yet," she said taking out her suitcase.
I walked over to her bed and sat down. I looked at the table next to it and found a picture of her and I at Nick's house in his pool. Tiffany's head was on my shoulder and my head was on her head. I didn't even remember that we took this picture. I picked it up and smiled at it.
"What cha lookin' at?" Tiffany said coming over to me.
"A picture. Where did you get this?"
"Nick gave it to me before you guys went on tour that one time. I couldn't throw it away. I thought it was a good picture of us."
"It is a good picture of us," I said looking at her. She was looking at the picture some more. "Do you miss that?"
She looked up at me confused, "Miss what?"
"Us, together in each others arms."
She looked at me for a couple of seconds trying to figure out what to day.
"I I I should continue packing," she said avoiding my eyes and getting up.
I looked down back at the picture. I was hurt. I mean really hurt. Why didn't she answer me? I thought she missed me?
"Um Bri?"
"Yeah?" I said looking at her.
"Can you get that suitcase for me?" she said pointing in her closet.
"Sure! Where is it?"
"It's right there above that card board box."
"Oh," I said reaching up to grab it. I got hold of the handle and pulled it down. I gave it to her and then sat back down.
"Thanks," she said setting it down on the floor.
"No problem. So are you excited?"
"About what?" she asked putting some pants in one of the suitcases.
"About going to the mountains with the guys and I."
"Yeah real excited! Michelle loves going up there in the summer. My family and I have a cabin up there and we all go up there when summer comes around. She loves it a lot."
"You guys have a cabin up there?"
"Yep! My great great great great grandfather built it along time ago. I'm not even sure if I got all the greats right," she laughed.
I just smiled. I love the way she laughs. I just noticed what has been missing is my life, her. She's so special to me and I can't lose her again.
I watched as she put all her shirts and sweat shirts and socks and all the other things woman have to bring on a vacation that's only going to last a couple of weeks.
She zipped up her suitcase and set it down.
"Are you ready to pack some more stuff?"
"You have more!?"
"Not for me, for Michelle," she said smiling and then leaving the room.
I got up and followed her. She opened the door to her room and walked in. I followed and stopped right when I went in. Tiffany went to Michelle's closet and pulled out a Barbie suitcase. She set it on the bed and went to the drawers to get her cloths that were needed. I looked around and saw tons of pictures of the guys and I. Most were of me but the other guys were there to. Our pictures weren't the only ones there. This is a 2-year-old girl were talking about. She had blue's clues posters and some Barney and some sesame street. Her bed spread had Barbie on it and toys were all over the place. Guess what most of them are? Barbie's! I know what I'm getting her for her birthday.
"Do you want to help pack some of her things?" Tiffany asked me.
"Sure! What can I do?"
"Can you put some of her toys in this?" she said holding up a Barney backpack.
"No problem! So what are her favorite toys?" I said getting on the floor and looking around.
"Well she likes that teddy bear over there," she said pointing to a bear that was sitting nicely on her pillow. I picked it up and put it in the backpack.
"She also likes that elephant and that monkey," she said pointing to them on the floor. I put them in the bag along with the teddy bear.
"Is that all?"
"Um she likes to play with Barbie's so I would throw a couple of those in there too."
"Just the Barbie?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well there's clothes, shoes, and then hair brushes and then we mustn't forget Ken and Skipper and then all her other friends."
She looked at me odd.
"What?"
"How do you know so much about Barbie's?"
"I watch a lot of TV OK?"
"OK," she said shaking her head. She went back to putting some pants and overalls in Michelle's suit case.
"So should I?"
"Should you what?"
"Put Ken and all the other stuff in there?"
"I guess. She's your daughter to ya know. I don't need to make all the decisions."
"I know but you just know more then I do that's all."
"But if I told you about her you would know things about her too."
"Yeah but it isn't your fault."
"What do you mean it isn't my fault? It's totally my fault! I should have told you about her. I was just to scared to and now because of my stupidity you missed out on 2 years of our daughters life," she said plopping down on the bed.
I got up and sat next to her.
"Stop blaming yourself. It's not totally your fault. I have to get blamed for something. And I didn't miss out on her whole life."
"What do you mean?"
"I was there when she started wasn't I? And I'm here now. I won't ever leave you or her again. I'm going to watch her grow up with you. I'm not going to miss out on that much. I still get to look forward to her first day of school, and then her first date, and then when she gets married."
"Yeah but you'll be on tour or working most of the time."
"I'll find time you know that. Plus I would never miss out on her first date. I'm gonna have a little chat with the guy before he goes anywhere with my baby."
"I can tell you're a father," she said smiling at me.
"Thank you, but you always knew that I wanted a family."
"I know how many kids do you want anyway?"
"You mean with you?"
"Um well with anybody."
"Well if it's with you then as many as you want but if it was with somebody else then I guess 2 or 3."
"Why wouldn't you want the woman that you're with make the decision?"
"Because I can't imagine my life without you in it and I know that we're going to be together."
"How do you know?"
"I just do," I said smiling. She looked down at her hands.
"Well you shouldn't be so sure of yourself. A lot of things don't turn out like you've hoped," she said fiddling with her hands.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"It means that we might not get back together like you want to. Do you even want to get back together?"
"Of course I do! Why wouldn't I!? I mean I love you and we have a daughter together."
"Just don't get ahead of yourself," she said standing up and zipping up Michelle's suit case. She put it down and headed to the door. She stopped and turned around.
"Do you want to order pizza or something?"
"Yeah! I could do that," I said getting up and walking behind her. We went downstairs and before we went to the kitchen we went to the playroom. She opened the door and stepped in and I went in after her. We stood there with our mouths open. Nick and AJ were sitting at this little table drinking out of teacups. They had high heels on and lipstick to go with it and to top it all of they had dresses on. Howie was sitting at the TV watching Barney and Kevin was dressed up as a horse. Michelle was on top of him giggling.
I started to laugh hysterically and so did Tiffany. All the guys looked at us and stood up accept Kevin since he had Michelle on his back. Nick and AJ were wiping their lips and Howie turned off the TV quickly.
"Real attractive guys!" Tiffany said walking up to Nick and looking at his dress. AJ and Nick took looked down and then up again. They were turning bright red. It was so funny! They took the dresses off quickly and threw them to the side.
"Stop laughing! We were only doing what Michelle wanted us to do!" Nick said blushing.
"But you looked so funny!" she said holding her stomach.
"Yeah but we were only doing it to please Michelle. Isn't that right my little jitter bug?" Kevin asked Michelle. He was standing up now with Michelle in his arms.
"Yep!" she said happily.
"Well my sweet pea you should do this more often. Next time I can get it on tape," Tiffany said taking Michelle in her arms.
"Tape it!? No way!" AJ screeched.
"I was just kidding," she said leaving the room. "Not"
"I heard that!" AJ said walking after her. All the guys followed after AJ. I was last of course. I seemed to be last lately. I don't know why? All the guys went into the living room and Tiffany took Michelle into the kitchen. I followed them.
"So what kind of pizza do you want?" I asked picking up the phone.
"Anything but make sure you get a cheese. Michelle doesn't like anything else," she said taking a cup out of the cupboard and filling it with water.
"She likes cheese pizza!? She is a lot like me!" I smiled.
"Yep so much it's scary!" she laughed as she left the room.
I laughed too as I dialed Pizza Hut.
