Chapter 10

Brian's View

"OK," she said quietly.

"Really!?" I said happily.

"Yeah," she smiled.

"Yes!" I said wrapping her in a hug. I hugged her tightly and she hugged back. I pulled back and brought my lips to hers. I kissed her passionately wanting more and more but I know I don't want to do anything that can change what we're feeling right now so I pulled away and hugged her again never wanting to let go. I then whispered in her ear, "I love you."

"I love you too."

"You seem tired. Do you want to go to bed?"

"Yeah I guess," she said smiling and getting up.

"Wait!" I said going over to my bag and pulling out a black velvet box. I walked back over to Tiffany and opened the box and took out the ring I gave her for when we were going out before.

"Do you remember this?" I asked handing it to her.

She took it and looked at it. Her mouth turned into a big smile.

"Where did you find this?" she asked looking into my eyes.

"When you left you didn't take the ring with you so I figured if we're going out with each other again you should wear it again."

"Of course I'm going to wear it!" she said putting it on and kissing me lightly on the lips.

I walked over to the bed and got in. I thought Tiffany was going to get in too but instead she went to the bathroom and then came back out with a glass of water. She set it down on the little table that is right next to the bed and then she picked up a mini backpack and rummaged through it until she pulled out a pillbox. She opened it and dumped three pills into her hand.

"W…What are those?" I asked shocked.

She looked up at me and got on the bed. She put her hand out for me to see and pointed to each pill saying what each is, "Well this one is a cranberry pill, this is a Tums and this is my heart medicine. I take the cranberry pill because it's keeps your system clean, I take the Tums because it gives me calcium, and I take the heart medicine because I just have to. I take all of these in the morning and at night."

"I totally forgot about your heart problem."

"You knew about it?"

"Yeah that one time with the whole Leighanne incident I wanted to talk to you but Nick wouldn't let me. He said you had a heart problem and me hurting you wouldn't help it."

She started to giggle.

"What?" I asked confused.

"You can't hurt my heart from just hurting me. My heart problem has nothing to do with that."

"Then what is it about?"

"Well I'll just start from the beginning. It's kind of long but I'll tell you anyway because you need to know. When I was in my mother's womb the doctor thought that I was a boy because my heart didn't beat like a girls. See girl's hearts beat faster then boys and my heart beat slower. Anyway after I was born the doctor just said it was a mistake and that I was completely fine. Over the years I would have fainting spells when exercising and finally my parents went to a doctor and he said that I had epilepsy. So for maybe 3 or 4 more years I was put on this medicine that would stop my fainting spells but I kept having them. We would keep going to the doctor but he said everything was fine. My parents knew he was wrong so they set up an appointment with a heart doctor. I went and what he found was that I didn't have epilepsy, I actually had a Long QT Syndrome. What it is that my heart beats slower then regular hearts and when I'm doing some heavy exercising my heart starts to beat to fast and it starts pumping too much blood. So my heart would basically go out of whack and I would get really dizzy and finally it would give up and I would pass out. He said that it was a good thing that my parents scheduled an appointment with him because he said that if I had one more fainting spell I could die. So he put me on this medicine which is called atenynol. What it does is when I exercise and my heart starts to beat to fast it will stop it from going any higher and that will keep me from passing out. So now I have to take it for the rest of my life until they find a cure but that probably won't happen. Anyway I have to go see him every year and he checks to see if the medicine is still working and then he would put a heart monitor on me and for 24 hours it would tape my heart beat and it will show if anything is going wrong. So far everything is going good."

"Wow! You've been through a lot and I never knew about it. So what happens if you took one pill but that wasn't enough? Do you need to take another pill?"

"No because that could kill me."

"Why?" I asked. I was getting a little worried as to what could happen.

"As I told you the medicine slows down my heart and when I mean slows it down I mean slows it down. If I take another pill it would slow down my heart so much that it could stop beating entirely."

"That's horrible," I said getting tears in my eyes.

"Yeah it is but it's what's keeping me alive," she said taking the glass of water and taking the pills.

"Why didn't you tell me about this before. I mean something could have happened and I wouldn't know what to do and what was happening."

She set the glass of water down and looked at me, "I guess I was afraid that you wouldn't want a girl that has a heart problem."

"Why would I think that? I have heart problems. We can relate. I would have never dumped you because of your heart problem because 1) it isn't your fault that you have it and 2) I would love to have a girl that can understand what I was going through and I could understand what you're going through."

"I guess your right but don't worry about anything. I've been taking these pills ever since I was 10 years old and nothing has gone wrong yet. Anyway Nick knows about everything and I guess he just wanted you to feel really bad for cheating on me."

"But I didn't cheat on you."

"You know what I mean," she smiled.

"Yeah I do. You know I'm going to talk to Nick tomorrow."

"Why?"

"Just because," I shrugged.

"OK but don't yell at him. I'm not going to be there when you talk to him so I can't stop you."

"Oh yeah I forgot. I'm not going skiing wtih them tomorrow."

"Why not?"

"Because I want to spend some time with you and Michelle alone."

"I don't want you to miss out on all the fun."

"I won't! It'll be fun just hanging out with you."

"If you're sure about this then I can't stop you but when are you going to talk to Nick?"

"When they come back."

"OK but don't yell at him. I don't want any fighting going on between you two."

"What ever you say princess," I said leaning over and giving her slight kiss on the lips.

She yawned and turned of the lamp that was on the in table. I turned off my light and laid down. Tiffany put her arm on my stomach and she rested her head on my chest. I put my arm around her shoulder and smiled. I finally had the one woman I love the most in the entire world back into my arms and hopefully it will stay this way.
