Chapter 21
A Couple Hours Later
Tiffany's View
Darlene called about an hour ago saying that her flight is arriving in Orlando at noon. So I just have to think of a way for Nick to notice her. I also need to tell Brian that she's going to be staying with us. I hope it's all right.
I was watching MTV when I heard the door open and shut.
"Princess?" I heard Brian call out.
"In here!" I yelled.
He walked into the living room with Michelle in his arms. Michelle had a basketball in her arms and she was smiling but I could tell that she was tired.
"Hi!" Brian said setting Michelle down.
"Hey," I smiled. "Michelle do you need to take a nap?"
She nodded her head slowly.
"OK," I said getting up off the couch. I picked Michelle up and left the room. I went up the stairs and Michelle snuggled up against my chest. She sighed and closed her eyes. I walked into her room and laid her down softly. I covered her up and kissed her forehead. I then bent down and whispered, "I love you baby," in her ear. She said I love you back and then she went to sleep. I walked out of the room and closed the door behind me. I walked back downstairs and into the living room. I sat next to Brian and decided to tell him that I invited Darlene to come and stay with us.
"Bri?" I asked looking at him.
"Yeah baby?" Brian asked looking at me.
"Um I called my friend Darlene today."
"Really? How is she?"
"She's OK but her boyfriend Matt just broke up with her."
"Oh is she all right?"
"She will be. Anyway I kind of invited her down here."
"Great! Who's she going to stay with?"
"I was thinking maybe she could stay with us."
"That's fine with me. By the way you talk about her she must be fun to be around with."
"Yeah she is," I smiled. "Thank you for being so good to me."
"I love you! I'm supposed to be good to you," he smiled at me. "So when is Darlene coming down?"
"Um tomorrow. She should be here at noon."
"Do you want me to pick her up?"
"No I'm going to do that."
"OK," he smiled at me.
"So what did you do at the park?"
"We played basketball," he laughed.
"Who won?"
"I did," he smiled.
"Did you go easy on her?"
"Yeah, I lifted her up to make baskets and she made some but I made more."
"What else did you do?"
"She played on the playground."
"She likes doing that," I laughed.
"I know! I had to pry her off the slide! She didn't want to come home," he laughed as well.
"She's stubborn just like her daddy," I laughed.
"I'm not stubborn!" he said. I just laughed.
"You are getting on my nerves," he said shaking his head.
"Yeah well you love me anyway," I said kissing him on the lips.
He just smiled and hugged me. I laid down and put my head on his lap. He stroked my hair and sung lightly to me. I closed my eyes and started to doze off to sleep. Darlene was right. I am a lucky girl.
