Chapter 29

Nick's View

I'm so glad Darlene didn't pull away when I put my arm around her. I was wondering if I should have done it or not but I'm glad I did. The movie's over and we're back it the car. I figured we could go to the beach to talk so that's where I'm heading now. Doesn't this remind you of Brian and Tiffany's first date? Well, I'm trying to make it like that because they're so happy now and I figured if that date made them that happy maybe it will make me that happy. Well, It's working!

I parked the car and got out. Darlene got out on her own and walked up beside me. She smiled at me and I smiled back. I took her hand and led her down the beach.

"This is the first time that I've been on the beach," she said softly.

"It is?"

"Yeah but I've seen it before because of Brian's and Tiffany's house being right next to it."

"Oh," I said. I looked at her and smiled. She was looking out at the ocean. She is so beautiful!

"It's so beautiful," she said.

"Yeah, that's why I love it so much," I said. She smiled at me and lightly squeezed my hand.

"So you guys are going on tour in three weeks?"

"Yeah unfortunately. I mean I love touring and seeing our fans it's just that I love being on vacation," I said.

"Understandable," she smiled.

"Are you coming with us?" I asked. PLEASE SAY YES!

"Um I don't know. Is Tiffany going?"

"Yeah she is," I said. "I think she's going to go on every single one from here on out."

"Yeah I think so too," she laughed. "I wish I could."

"Do you have to work?"

"No, it's just that I haven't been invited," she smiled at me.

"Oh well I can take care of that," I smiled. "Darlene? Would you like to go on tour with me and the rest of the guys?"

"I'd love to!" she said.

"Great!" I said. She smiled at me.

We walked for a little more and then I finally decided to do something that I would never usually do on the first date.

"Darlene?" I asked stopping.

"Yeah?" she asked stopping and looking at me curiously.

"Would it be all right if," I sighed. "Can...I mean may I kiss you?"

"Um yeah," she said softly.

I smiled and took my hand and cupped her chin in it. I brought her face to mine and our lips met. I was surprised at how soft her lips were. I soon deepened the kiss and she kissed back. I finally pulled away and looked at her smiling.

"Wow," she said quietly.

"I know what you mean," I said back. "Did you feel something just then?"

"Yeah did you?" she asked.

"Yeah," I said softly.

"Oh My God. I can't believe that just happened."

I just smiled at her. Just then, right above our heads, a long streak of lightening appeared. Then rain began to fall.

"Uh oh," I said. "Come on," I said grabbing Darlene's hand and running to the car. She opened the door and got in. I did the same and turned the car on. Just then Darlene started to laugh. I looked at her curiously.

"What?"

"Nothing!" she laughed.

"No really, what?"

"It's just that it started to rain right when our kiss ended," she smiled.

"Why is that funny?"

"I just thought it was funny! If you were Tiffany you would understand. She knows me better. I laugh at things so easily."

"Oh I see," he said smiling and nodding his head. "Let's go"

"K"

He drove me home in the rain and walked me up to the door. He kissed me good night and left. I opened the door and went in finding that the house was dark.

"Everyone must be asleep," I said to myself. I walked up the stairs and into my room. I got ready and got in my bed. I closed my eyes and replayed our kiss. I'm so happy! Please let me be like this for the rest of my life!
