Chapter 34
The Next Night
Brian's View
"Hey baby," I said kissing her on the forehead.
"Hey," she smiled. "Are you leaving soon?" she asked.
"Yeah and it's all right if I take Michelle?"
"Yeah! She'll love it!" she said.
"Great! I won't be home until late."
"I know," she said.
"K," I smiled. Just then the doorbell rang. I went over to the door and opened it.
"Hey!" Nick said walking in.
"Hey! What are you doing here?" I asked.
"OH! I wanted to talk to Darlene real quick," he said.
"OK," I said. "HEY DARLENE!? NICK'S HERE TO SEE YOU!"
I heard running from upstairs and then Darlene came running down the stairs.
"HEY!" she said.
"Hi! Can I talk to you in private?" Nick asked and then looked at me.
"Oh sorry!" I said. I turned around and walked back into the living room where Tiffany was watching TV.
Nick's View
"So what's up?" Darlene asked me curiously.
"Um I wanted to ask you if..." I paused. I took out a black velvet box out of my pocket and opened it. "Will you be my girlfriend?" I asked.
"YES! I'D LOVED TO!" she said excited.
"Great!" I smiled. I took the ring out of the box and put it on her finger. She looked at it and smiled.
"Thank you!" She smiled and then kissed my cheek.
"Read the inscription," I said.
"Oh!" she said. She took off the ring and looked at the inscription. She smiled and looked at me.
"How sweet! Thank you Nick!" she said.
"You're welcome," I smiled.
"Nick? We got to go," Brian said walking up behind me. I turned to him and said, "OK."
I turned back to Darlene and said, "Good night. I'll see you tomorrow."
"OK," she smiled.
"K bye," I said. I kissed her on the lips and then went outside. Brian followed me with Michelle in his arms. We got in our cars and left to the studio. For some reason I have a bad feeling about tonight.
Brian's View
I waved to Tiffany and blew a kiss to her. She acted like she caught it and then she mouthed 'I love you'. I said it back and smiled. She smiled back. For some very odd reason I have a bad feeling. I don't know what it is but it can't be good.
Josh's View
"K, are we ready?" I asked looking at everyone. We're all wearing black and when it's time we'll put on our black ski masks.
"Yeah let's go!" Sara said.
"OK," Mandy and Leighanne said getting up. We went over to the truck and got in.
"Do we have ropes and gags?" Sara asked.
"Yeah it's all back here," Leighanne said.
"OK let's go!" Sara said. She drove to Brian's house and then she parked across the street. We waited and finally we saw a blond coming out of the gates in a BMW. Must be the Nick boy. A minute later Brian came out of the gates in his Jeep. Luckily his daughter was in the passenger seat.
"GO!" I said.
"OK!" Sara said. She turned on the truck and rushed passed the gate. We slowly drove up to the house and parked on the side. We all got out, accept for Sara, and closed the doors quietly.
"K you two go in the back," I said.
"K," they said and crept toward the back with ropes and gags in their hands. I walked slowly to the door and stopped, I put my ear to the door and heard the TV and Tiffany talking. I took a credit card and slid it in the crack. I heard the lock click open so I slowly opened the door. Thank God the alarm system is not on!
"I'm going to get a glass of water. Do you want anything?" a girl asked. I walked over to the living room and peeked in. Tiffany was on the couch and a girl was looking at her.
"No thanks," Tiffany said.
"K," the other girl, I think is Darlene, said and got up. She went toward the kitchen. PERFECT! Mandy and Leighanne should have no trouble! Now for the main catch.
Tiffany's View
I turned back toward the TV and saw that the Nuggets just made another basket, "YES! Finally!"
I watched for a couple more minutes and all of a sudden I heard a glass break in the kitchen. I put the TV on mute and asked, "Darlene?"
There was no answer, "Darlene? Are you OK?" I asked starting to get up. Still no answer. I walked to the kitchen and looked around. On the floor there was broken glass from a cup and a little blood. I looked up and saw that the glass door was broken.
"DARLENE!?" I yelled. I was panicking. All of a sudden I heard something crash. I turned around quickly and looked around. No one was there. I ran over to the phone and picked it up. I ran over to the counter and crouched on the ground. Tears were rolling down my cheeks and I was scared to death. I turned the phone on with my hands shaking. I put the phone to my ear and found that the dial tone wasn't there.
"Oh God! Please no!" I said. I was pressing all the buttons on the phone frantic to get help. I then heard another crash. I stood up quickly and looked around. No one was there. I walked around the counter and to the doorway so I could see in the living room. On the floor was a broken lamp. My heart started to beat faster. I looked at the other doorway and saw the stairs. I walked slowly to the door way and looked around. No one. I ran to the stairs and ran as fast as I could up them. I ran all the way down the hall and to my room. I slammed the door and ran to the bed. I crouched down and picked up the other phone. I put it to my ear but it was still dead. I was breathing heavily now and I was about to pass out. My heart was beginning to act up.
"Tiffany?" I heard outside the door. I gasped and sunk lower behind the bed. "Brian please come home!" I whispered. I then heard the door knob rattle. I breathed and cried harder. The door then opened.
"I know you're in here," I heard the voice say.
I looked down and saw that Brian had a metal bat by my right side. I set the phone's down and grabbed it.
"AH HA!" the person yelled jumping at me. He landed right on top of me. When he did this the bat fell from my hands. I tried to get it but he grabbed my arms and pulled them behind my back. My feet were already tied and I was screaming for help. He then gagged my mouth. He flipped me over and took his ski mask off. He smiled at me and my eyes widened. I tried to struggle free but I couldn't. He then punched me and the next thing I remember is that I blacked out.
