Chapter 4
"Baaaby…" I heard someone softly whisper in my ear. "Hmmmmm…" I answered still trying to sleep. "As much as I'd love to stay like this right here with you…I have to go to the bathroom." I semi-woke up and got off of Nick so that he could go.
"Hun?" Nick asked coming out of the bathroom.
"Wha?" I answered feeling a little nauseated.
"Are you okay? You don't look so great." He said coming to feel my forehead…I bolted up with wide eyes, my hand quickly slapped over my mouth and I ran to the bathroom. I was hunched over the toilet vomiting what seemed like everything I had eaten since last Tuesday. Nick had hurried in after me pulling my hair back. I sat up and wiped my mouth, Nick quickly poured me a glass of water…I washed my mouth out and looked up at him, my eyes pleading that he carry me to anywhere soft enough to lay down and sleep, I just felt to weak to move. He came up to me and as if reading my mind slipped one of his arms under my knees and one on my back and carried me to his room softly laying me on the bed. He kissed my forehead while stroking my hair.
"I'm going to call a doctor okay?" He asked…as much as I would have loved to protest I was just too weak.
Nick's POV-
After Christy fell asleep I quietly picked up the phone and dialed an old family physician and set up an appointment for later that day. Earlier when I saw Christy sitting on that couch, her face as white as a sheet, I was scared out of my mind, I had never seen her like that before. If anything ever happened to her, I don't know what I'd do, I'm so in love with her, I don't ever want to loose her or what we have.
I walked quietly into my room carefully, as not to wake her and gently picked her up, I carried her down to my car and strapped her into the front seat. She looked up at me and groggily asked where we were going, after I told her she nodded and fell asleep. I have a big decision to make, it will effect everyone's lives…that's another reason why I came home for a while, I needed to be with Christy, I need to make the right decision, and it needs to be at the right time.
~In the doctor's office…
"Mr. Carter?" The doctor asked coming out of his office.
"Yeah?" I asked getting up extremely fast.
"She's fine…she has the flu, must have caught it from one of the pre-schooler's she helps out with, it IS flu season."
"Thank God. Does she need anything?" I asked.
"Yes, here's her prescription, I'd give it to her but she's a little under the weather to handle that…pick the medicine up at any pharmacy, and just make sure she stays in bed for a few days. Throwing up is normal, she may have bad headaches, and she may get dizzy spells…all those things are normal, nothing to worry about. She does have athsma though, I'd like to keep an eye on that, make sure she takes her inhaler, otherwise this could very well develop into pneumonia." He said looking me directly in the eye.
"Okay, I'll do that, I think she takes her inhaler regularly, does she need to up the dosage?"
"Yeah, have her take an extra puff every time she takes it."
"All right, I'll do that."
"Okay, you might want to help her out to the car, she's still dizzy." I went into the office and carefully picked up Christy, she looked me in the eye and tried her best to smile. We got in the car and took a drive down to the pharmacy where I picked up her medicine and we made our way home.
My POV-
"Nick??" I asked weakly sitting up in bed…I didn't know who's bed I was in, nor why he was in it with me.
"What baby? Do you need me to help you to the bathroom?" He asked sincerely, even though he was tired, he was ready to help.
"No…why are we in bed together, and why do I feel like crap?" I asked.
"We're in bed together so I can keep an eye on you, I was going to sleep on the couch but you wouldn't let me leave, you asked me to hold you, how can I say no to your eyes? And as for the feeling like crap thing, you have the flu."
"Oh, okay, I'm just gonna go back to sleep…thanks for being here…you're my angel." I quickly dozed off, but not before hearing Nick whisper
"No, you're my angel, and I want you to be mine forever."
