Chapter 6
"Hmmmm..." I sighed as I felt cool air blowing in my ear. Maybe the window is open. I thought. There it is again, but it's closer. That's it...I'm tired and that really tickles. AGAIN! What is that? I thought as I smacked something near my ear. I heard a thump and my eyes quickly opened. I searched around the room, but didn't see anything. What did I hit? I crawled to the edge of the bed and saw Nick sitting there on the floor rubbing his nose. Oops. He didn't see me, so I pretended to be asleep. I crawled into the sheets quietly. When I finally got comfortable, I felt the bed sink down. It's baaaaack. I thought.
"Lindsay..." I heard in a little voice. "Lindsay..." I heard again. That's it.
"I'm up!" I said as I sat up in the bed throwing my arms up in the air. "How can somewhat not sleep when you are blowing into their ear. By the way, I'm really ticklish there." I said pointing to my ear and cracking a little smile.
"Sorry. I was gonna jump on the bed, but I thought that would be really mean." Nick said smiling. You got that right buster. "Ready to go?" he asked. All I had to do was give him this look that said 'look at me' and he got the picture. "Sorry. You're duffel bag is over there. Try to hurry. Brian is picking us up in like 20 minutes." Nick said pointing near the door to my dark green duffel bag. It was from my old high school basketball team. It had my name on it and everything. Hey, I dug it. Nick quickly exited the room. I know what you're thinking now...Normally, girls who just wake up need about an hour to get changed. Not me! I'm different. It may take me a little time to pick out some clothes, but my mom knows what I like, so I assume it won't be difficult. And makeup wise, all I need is some lip gloss and my green powder compact. I quickly found the bathroom and jumped into the shower. My mom knows how to pack.
~10 Minutes Later~
I heard a knock on the door just as I was putting on my strawberry kiwi flavored
lip gloss. "Come in." I said kind of awkwardly considering I was applying
the gunk to my lips.
"You know how to get ready quick." Nick said as he stepped behind me so I
could see his reflection in the mirror.
"Yup, one of my few gifts." I answered turning around to look at him. Dayum!
is the only thing I can say. Nick looked really good sporting some kakhi
shorts and a green button down shirt over a white muscle tank top. I looked
at him with wide eyes and then looked into his eyes. This kid is slow!
"Nick...look at what you're wearing..."
"Yeah?" he said.
"Look at what I'm wearing." This always happens. I had this one friend who
use to dress the way I did. If he was wearing a button down white shirt and
kakhis, so was I, but I looked better. Hehehe. Nick smiled. I was wearing
kakhi shorts, which is a rare thing considering I hate for people to see
my legs, and a white T-shirt under a green button down T-shirt. He wrapped
his arm around my waist and began to walk out.
"Let's go, twin." Nick said with a goofy grin on his face. Honk! Honk! I
heard as we walked down the stairs. Nick let go of me and fished in his pocket
for his house keys. I stepped outside. God, it's beautiful here. It's a nice
sunny day without a cloud in the sky. I jogged over to Brian's awaiting jeep.
"Hey, B!" I said as I hopped into the passenger side seat and gave him a
hug.
"Wassup, buddy?" Brian asked as Nick opened the passenger door. I shook my
head 'no' and he closed it and got into the back-seat of the car. Brian then
glanced at me to Nick, then me again. "Did you guys go shopping already?
What's the deal with the matching clothes?" Brian asked stifling a laugh.
"We just think a like. It wasn't planned." Nick reassured Brian. I was surprised
Nick didn't mind sitting in the back. It was a good 20 minutes before we
arrived at the mall. There was a little chat going on in the car. I didn't
really listen 'cuz Nick and Bri were talking about BSB stuff.
"Let's go, kiddies!" Brian said undoing his seat belt. I was the last one
to get out of the jeep. We slowly walked near the entrance when I noticed
a group of 6 guys. Ok, now I feel awkward. I'm the only chica here! Oh well,
they'll be cool. I was walking next to Brian when I saw Nick step away from
the other side of him and move to my right side. Ok. Strange. We walked up
to the group. This looked funny. 5 guys in hats and shades. Not too noticeable.
"Hey guys!" I heard Nick yell to the group. They all turned and at once they
all pulled off their shades. They looked from Nick and I. "Don't ask." Was
all Nick could say. "Ok, Linds, this is Kev, AJ, and Howie. Guys this is
Lindsay." I went to extend my hand to Howie. He was at the far right. He
shook it and gave me a quick hug.
"Nice to meet you, Lindsay." I nodded. I turned to the guy next to him.
"Hey there. Name's AJ, but you can call me anything you want." AJ said winking
at me. I had to admit he had nice eyes.
"That was corny, man." I said as I gave him a hug. He smiled. I knew we'd
become good friends in due time. I felt like he could bring out the wild
Lindsay I thought I lost. I walked over to Kevin. I looked up at him when
I heard the deep voice.
"Hi Linds, I'm Kev. Nice to meet ya." Kevin said hugging me. Wow. These guys
were really nice and affectionate might I add. "And these are Q,
Jim, and Mike, our body guards Nick forgot to mention." They just waved hello.
What a change of events. I thought. Each boy pulled on the shades again as
we decided to stroll into the mall. I had to admit it looked kinda funny.
8 guys, all kinda taller than me, and little 'ol me walking next to my twin.
Hehehe.
We first decided to get something to eat. It was about lunch time and I could
have swore I heard Nick's tummy growl. I laughed at the thought. We sat down
pulling 3 tables together. I sat across from Nick and next to Brian.
Across from Bri was AJ, and situated at the last 2 tables were Kev and Howie.
Mike, Q, and Jim were all sitting at a round table not too far away from
our little group. As I finished with my slice of pizza I slowly stood up.
5 pairs of eyes were on me. "I'm just gonna run to the music store. I'll
be right back." They all nodded. I strolled around the mall looking for some
sorta music store. A-Ha, Musicmaker. That sounds promising. I walked inside
only to see tons of c.d's and sheet music. Phat! I gotta find some new sheet
music. That's right, I play. I play the keyboard, and the drums. I also want
to play the guitar. I am also self-taught. In school I played, cello, saxaphone,
and clarinet. In fourth grade, I wanted to play the drums and my mom said
no 'cuz "drums are for boys". Whatever! I sure pissed her off when I came
home from Christmas at my dad's house with a drum set. I could picture the
look on her face. I smiled at the thought as I walked over to the sheet music
stand. Hmmm... Babyface...Backstreet boys...Beatles. I already had a Beatles
songbook. I picked up the BSB book scanning the contents. "Cute" I said to
no one in particular. I placed the book back down and walked over to a c.d.
rack. Hmmm...Backstreet Boys, Millenium. I looked at the back of the c.d.
and decided to buy it considering "Larger Than Life" was one of my favorite
songs at the moment even though I dispise pop music. I payed for the c.d
and decided to get the Millenium sheet music. I walked back to the foodcourt
area with my bag while singing "Larger Than Life" to myslef.
"All you people can't you see, can't you see...How you're love's affecting
our reality...Every time we're down, you can make it right...and that makes
you larger than life." I sang as I did a little spin type dance thing when
I bumped into a tall man. Oops...
