Chapter 8

I was upset and didn't even check the peep hole to see who it was. I opened the door.

"Hey Sis. Long time no see." my younger brother, Nick, said as he ran up the stairs. I was about to close the door.

"Wait, for me." I heard my mom yell. She walked into the hallway carrying grocery bags. I took three from her and placed them on the kitchen counter. "What's wrong? Did you have fun with Nick?" she asked.

"Nothing's wrong. Just tired. Yeah, I met the rest of the guys and we were in the mall all day. I got some new stuff." I said before I was interrupted.

"Hey honey." my stepdad said going to kiss my mom. "Hey Linds. Have fun?" he said while hugging me.

"Yeah, Sammy, it was all good." I said as I slowly walked out of the kitchen. "If I get any calls, tell them I'm out, I also don't wanna see anyone."

They nodded without asking questions. That's odd. I walked up the stairs dragging the bags I had brought home. When I reached my room, I flung them near my dresser and popped in the BSB c.d. I had just purchased. "As Long As You Love Me sounds promising." I took my wicker rocking chair and placed it in the balcony. The fresh air felt so nice. In the distance I could see Nick in the pool by himself. I kinda felt bad leaving him, but it's not like he was talking to me anyway. I fell asleep a few minutes later to the sweet smell of mom baking fresh chex mix downstairs and the sounds of Nick's voice filtering through my speakers.

~2 Hours Later~

Ding! Dong! the doorbell rang. "I'll get it." Nick yelled. He opened the door.

"Hey little man." Nick said slapping my brother a five.

"Hey Nick what's up? Cam over to play video games with me?" my brother asked hopefully.

"Sorry, actually I have to tell your sister some important news. Can I see her?" Nick asked with a depressed tone.

"Actually, when we came home she was really upset. She's probably upstairs listening to music or something. I'll let you go up."

"Thanks, man." Nick said bounding up the stair taking two at a time. Nick knocked on my door, but I was still asleep. Nick took this as the signal to enter. He walked into the room only to hear his own voice on "If You Want It To Be Good Girl(Get Yourself A Bad Boy)" He chuckled lightly and looked around my room. He noticed the balcony doors open and walked towards them. There I was. Sitting comfortably on the chair. All of a sudden, Nick ran over to the stereo and changed the track to number five. He walked out onto the balcony and began to sing loudly.

"I don't know

What he does to make you cry

But I'll be there to make you smile

I don't have a fancy car

To get to you I'd walk a thousand miles." I woke up as soon as he began singing but played it off as if I was asleep. I smiled in my "sleep" and he knew I was awake. "Hey, I had to walk a block...it counts." We both laughed as Nick came closer to me. I stood up and hugged him. I pulled back and looked into his eyes. I knew everything was sincere. "I've gotta tell you something important." I pulled him into the bedroom and we sat on the bed.

"Shoot."

"The reason why I was so quiet in the car was because I had just gotten off the phone with Lou, our boss. He wants us to do some extra promotional stuff for out album. It's selling good and everything, but he thinks it would be a good idea."

"Well, that's great." I replied smiling.

"No it's not. This Friday right after school, I have to leave for a week. We're going to New York, then next Saturday we'll be putting on a mini show here."

"You're missing the second week of school?" I said in disbelief. He nodded. "But what about me? I won't know anyone. I'll be so lonely." I began to wig out. Nick grabbed hold of my shoulders.

"I have a few popular friends our age. I'll introduce you and you'll know everyone in no time. Oh, and don't worry, I'll call all the time. Oh, and you're coming to the special show down here. I'll be sending ya tickets and backstage passes."

"Whoopee!" I said sarcastically twirling my finger around. He laughed and hugged me. "You know, I'm gonna miss ya, right?" he asked.

"Now I do." I said hugging him. "Come downstairs with me, we can eat some chex mix, it's really good." I said pulling Nick up with me. He wouldn't budge. "C'mon!"

"Lindsay, I'm really sorry I got you upset. I was just upset about leaving. I mean Aaron and everyone, they're getting home late tonight and I'm gonna miss them. And I'm gonna miss you." Nick said sincerely with glassy eyes.

"Don't worry about it, by the way that song, track 3, is really good. I don't care who you are...where you're from...what you did...as long as you love me..." I sang picking Nick up and spinning him around with me. We laughed and walked downstairs to the kitchen.

"Hey Mom!" Nick said walking over to my mother and hugging her.

"Hello Nickolas."

"Where's the stuff?" I asked. My mom pointed to a large blue bowl. Nick ad I walked over to it. The smell of garlic and all the seasoning were permeating the air. Nick and I ate some and discussed some things about school tomorrow. He would be taking me to school if he got to my house early. Otherwise, I'd take him. Also, we worked out this schedule to meet different times during school so we could catch up and stuff. Turns out we had same lunch so we'd most likely be sitting together and we also had choir together. Which is kinda weird, considering he's a professional. Nick had to go home. His parents had just gotten home with Aaron and all the kids. Nick wanted me to walk with him to his house. I obliged. We waved good bye to my mom and walked out of the house. I was humming the tune to "Quit Playing Game(With My Heart)" not realizing how loud I was doing it.

"You, know. You've got a really beautiful voice. AJ was right." I looked at him funny raising an eyebrow.

"Thanks and what do you mean?" I asked.

"Well, AJ told us about you're little incident in the mall and said you were singing and dancing." I blushed as Nick explained. We just reached the front door when some mini mi version of Nick came pouncing on him.

"Hey Airboy!" Nick said as his, I guess, little bro tackled him to the ground. Nick pulled the little boy up. "Aaron, meet my friend Lindsay." Nick said as I walked to Aaron and did the exact same handshake Nick did with my brother.

"I like her." Aaron said as he ran into the house after our handshake. Nick and I laughed.

"You need to meet everyone else." Nick explained dragging me into the house by my hand.

"Nicky, is that you?"
