Chapter 9

After Nick's mom practically flipped out when she saw him, he introduced me to her. She insisted I call her Jane, but like Nick I felt that wasn't quite right.

"Well, it was nice meeting you. I have to go. I'd like to stay and meet Angel, Leslie, and BJ, but I gotta get home. School tomorrow." I reminded Nick.

"Bye, hun. Stop by anytime." Jane said hugging me. I walked to the door with Nick not too far behind me. Just as he opened the door I head feet run down the stairs.

"Bye Linds, make sure you come over again. Good luck tomorrow." Aaron said as he hugged my waist. He couldn't reach any higher. It was cute.

"Don't worry, buddy. I'll be back." I said smiling. I leaned down and kissed his cheek. He ran upstairs.

"Well, I had a lot of fun this weekend and I'm really sorry I upset you earlier today. I'll pick you up tomorrow around 7:00. Be ready!" Nick warned. We quickly hugged and I heard him begin to shut the door. All of a sudden... "Oh, Linds, bring chex-mix for me tomorrow." Nick said yelling to me while a huge smile appeared on his face. I saluted him and we laughed.

~In Nick's House~

Nick quietly shut the door.

"I like her a lot Nick. She's really sweet." Jane said popping a grape into her mouth. "How'd you meet?" she asked.

"Long story." Nick simply said as he ran a hand through his hair. Jane smiled seeming to know what Nick was thinking about. "I'm gonna got bed, gotta wake up early to pick Lindsay up for school."

"Yeah, and of course you gotta look good." Jane said finishing off her son's sentence. Nick's cheeks got somewhat pink. "You sure its wise for YOU to be going to high school?" she asked.

"It'll be fine mom. I will not get attacked." Nick said reassuringly. Jane was a little hesitant about letting Nick go to school considering he was an international superstar. Nick walked upstairs after he kissed his mother goodnight. He walked straight to his room and laid on his bed. He still felt horrible for treating me the way he did. Knock! Knock! The door creaked open.

"Hey Bro."

"Hey Beej." Nick said emotionless.

"That sucks! I've been gone for like a month and you don't care. What are you thinking about?" she asked laying next to him on the bed. "Let me guess...that chick that just left? Frack's got a crush! Frack's got a crush!" BJ chanted.

"Well, first of all she's not a chick. She's Lindsay. We're really good friends and I kinda got her upset today. I don't HAVE a crush. I just feel bad. She said she forgives me, but I still feel bad." Nick explained looking at BJ intently.

"Well, I have a feeling you haven't know each other that long. She a good friend and you're kinda confused cuz you don't know if you like, her like her." BJ explained.

"She's like a guy but not quite. We can talk about anything, she's got a great voice and a great personality."

"You'll figure it all out soon, Nicky." BJ said getting up and rumpling up Nick's hair. She quietly left the room and closed the door.

~Next Day (5:50 am)~

Beep! Beep! Beep! went my alarm clock. I stumbled out of bed and walked into my closet. I looked around trying to find something to wear. I didn't want a skirt cuz that's so retarded for first day of school. I pulled out a pair of fit 'n flare black pants and a dark blue iridescent 3/4 sleeve shirt. I looked for my new boots. They only made me 1 1/2 inches taller, but they went up to my knee. They were some diesel, combat looking boots. I looked for black socks in my dresser and threw my outfit on the bed. I jumped into the shower and within 45 minutes I was dressed and just brushing my teeth. "OK, gotta get pumped!" I yelled to no one in particular running over to my stereo and playing "Hitchin' A Ride" by Green Day. I jumped around listening to the song when my door opened. In walked a nicely dressed Nick Carter. He was wearing long black pants, a white wife beater, and a dark blue shirt over that. "We did it again!" I yelled running over to my stereo trying to turn it off. I turned around and noticed Nick still in the same spot with his mouth gaping. "Yes?" I asked.

"You look really nice. Is this the new you? I love your hair." Nick said walking over to me. He had never seen my hair down before.

"Yeah, AJ helped me. He said it was flattering. My hair has been like this Nick. You've just never seen it down." I explained.

"I know. Oh, yeah... Your chariot awaits, my lady." Nick said bowing like a gentleman with an English accent. I linked my arm into his awaiting arm and we walked downstairs. My mom threw a lunch bag at me while I kissed her goodbye. She then hugged Nick goodbye and we walked out of the house as I grabbed my backpack sitting near the front door. We walked outside. Nick opened the door for me and I smiled. Nice, but I don't like this. Is there something I don't know? See, the thing is...I'm not used to this. I don't have guys open doors for me and I don't have them treat me any different from a guy. We proceeded to school. I had brought my c.d player, but noticed Nick had one in his car. I turned the c.d player on and was surprised the hear the BSB's first track to "Millennium". I looked over at him.

"Conceited much?" I asked as we laughed together. I skipped till I hit track 3. I made it louder and sang to the music. I knew every lyric. I was proud of myself. I really loved this song. It kinda said what I was feeling. I was and still kinda am a lonely person and I don't know why. Why don't guys like me? That's a question I ask myself a lot. I could see Nick looking at me. "Eyes on the road, Nickolas!" I said with a smile. Nick began to smile and we finished singing "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" together. We really good. Just as the song ended we pulled into the school parking lot. Nick turned off the engine and looked at me.

"Don't worry about anything. You'll make friends. I already told some people about you and how you're new and all. I know some really nice people. You remember when we meet during school, right?" I nodded. He smiled and began to get out of the car. When he was out, I took a deep breathe and picked up my backpack. All of a sudden my door opened. "Hellooooo..." Nick said peeking his head into the car. I handed him his bag as I stepped out of the car. He closed the door behind me as I waited for him. He turned to me and placed his arm around my shoulder. "They're over there." Nick said pointed to a group of 4 guys and 3 girls. They all turned around at once and waved. Nick waved back with his free hand. We finally approached them.

"Hey sweety! Long time no see!" a bottle blonde haired girl said kissing Nick on the cheek. He still had his arm around me. I noticed everyone else staring at us. Was it because we were wearing similar clothes. I felt uncomfortable and I felt jealous of that fake bubble-headed hoochie kissing Nick!!!
