Chapter 17
I felt something trickle down my face as I opened my eyes slowly. I had a horrible dream and felt really hot. As I opened up my eyes, I saw I was in BJ's bedroom again and Jane was pressing a cold towel on my head. I turned and looked at her. I began to open my mouth. She shook her head and said. "Later, dear. Just rest up." I turned my head and began to think of what had happened. I remembered going to "Underground" with Derrick last night and then I wasn't feeling well, so we left. I remembered a cold chair and a needle on my back and then I remember the sand on the beach. With that, I closed my eyes again.
~Dream/Flashback~
"Hey Dan, what's up?"
"Oh, Hey Derrick. Who you got with you?"
"This is Lindsay. She wants a tattoo. I figured you could help us." Derrick
said lying.
"Yeah, no problem." Derrick smacked my side to wake me up. I looked up.
"Huh?" I said closing my eyes again and grabbing the side he had just
hit.
"Forget it, I'll pick one." Dan helped Derrick bring me to a chair. My
head fell back and I felt Derrick searching me for something. Then he saw
my star charm. "Hey Dan. You got something like this?" He nodded. "Ok, make
one the exact same size...right here." He said touching my lower back. Without
any questions, Dan drew a star and filled it in with a blue color.
"No charge, man. See ya."
~End Dream~
I woke up again and decided I needed something to drink. I got up slowly
and felt a pain in my side. I ignored it and tried to walk slowly to the
bathroom. I made it and closed the door. I lifted up my shirt a little and
saw some blue-purple colored bruises around my abdomen. I winced as I lightly
touched them. I turned around and searched for the tattoo I had vaguely seen
last night. I turned around and found it. "Crap!" I said. I didn't want a
tattoo. My mom is gonna kill me. I looked horrible. My face was pale and
I looked drained, but my blue eyes really glowed for some reason. I washed
off my face and opened the door. I slowly walked back into the room and almost
bumped into Nick, who was walking out of the room.
"Shit Linds. You scared me. I thought you left or something." I shook my
head 'no' and proceeded to walk into the room. I bent over to get my sneakers
and felt the pain of the bruises. I cried out and Nick ran to me. "What's
wrong?" He asked as he got my sneakers for me. I sat down on the bed as he
sat next to me.
"Nick, I don't know what happened last night. I can only remember little
parts." I said crying softly. I laid back on the bed and I guess my shirt
lifted up a little 'cuz I saw Nick's mouth open wide and his eyes bug out
of his head. He moved the shirt up a little and I closed my eyes. He lightly
touched my skin, but this time it didn't hurt.
"Linds..." I looked at him. "Where did you get these?" He asked with anger
and worry in his eyes.
"Nick, I don't know, but they hurt. My head hurts. My legs hurt. Everything
hurts." I said crying a little more now.
"I found you on the beach last night. The fellas came over 'cuz you said
you'd be over around 9:00. They wanted to see you. I walked by the family
room and saw someone outside on the beach. You were there. You were like
knocked out and I brought you inside. You woke up then dozed off. I called
your mom and told her you stopped by. Since I didn't know what happened,
I didn't tell her. If you wanna tell me what happened, I'm here to listen."
He said laying next to me. I took a deep breath.
"I went clubbing with Derrick last night. I remember ordering a few cokes
and that was it, but after a few, I became really dizzy. Derrick dragged
me out of the club and took me home. I think he hit me in order to wake me
up. I was kinda up and decided to go to the beach since it was still early
out." I didn't want to tell Nick about the tattoo. I wasn't really proud
of it.
"I can't believe you forgave him! I told you something would happen! Why
didn't you listen?!" Nick yelled getting up and walking out of the room.
I heard the front door open and close and Nick's car start up. I started
to get ready when Jane walked into the room.
"I heard everything, hun. That wasn't everything though, was it?" Jane asked
sitting next to me. I shook my head 'no' and showed her the tattoo. I heard
her gasp. I turned around with tears in my eyes and she hugged me. "It's
alright, hun. I take it you didn't want the tattoo."
"No. I didn't even know about it until this morning." I said as a tear fell.
"I won't tell anyone, not even your mother. Just promise me one day she'll
know." I nodded my head. "You gonna go home, now?" I nodded. We got up from
the bed. "Feel better and don't worry about Nick. He'll come around."
"Thanks a lot, Mom." I said hugging her. She smiled and kissed my cheek.
I walked downstairs. BJ walked up to me and hugged me.
"Get better, Linds."
"Thanks." Then Aaron ran up to me and hugged me around the waist. he touched
one of my bruises, but I tried to ignore the pain. "Bye little buddy." I
said ruffling his hair. I walked outside and realized I didn't have a car.
"Crap." I began to walk home.
~Brian's House~
Ding! Dong! Brian ran to the door and opened it. Nick stood there.
"You would not believe what happened!" Nick said walking into the house.
"Come in, why don't you." Brian said, but Nick was already sitting on the
couch. Nick explained everything to Brian hoping he'd have some words of
wisdom. "Are you gonna do something about it?" Brian asked when Nick was
finished.
"I don't know. I swear I've had enough of Derrick. This is the second time,
man." Nick said running his fingers through his hair.
"Nick, you're not helping her." Nick raised an eyebrow. "I'm sure she's in
a lot of pain right now and you just yelling at her and leaving was not right.
A real friend would be there for her." Brian explained.
"I know, but I just couldn't think at that moment."
~My House~
I slowly walked upstairs. My mom must have been out grocery shopping or
something. As soon as I got into my room my phone rang.
"Hello?" I asked in a week voice.
"Lindsay? Hi, it's Lou. I'm sorry I had to leave town a few days."
"It's no problem." I said sitting on my bed.
"I was wondering if you'd be willing to come to Jive Monday after school."
Lou said hopefully.
"Umm...yeah, sure. I'll be there." I wasn't sure if I should go or not. I'm
afraid my stomach will hurt when I sing 'cuz of the bruises.
"Well, that's great. See ya then." Lou said hanging up the phone. I decided
to sleep a little longer. At the moment, I didn't care if I woke up or not.
