Chapter 30
I limped out of the bathroom clad in Nick's boxers and T-shirt. Nick was busy watching an infomercial on a grilling machine or something. I laughed at it and tried to get situated in the bed. "Night Nick." I said flipping the light switch off. I closed my eyes and felt the bed sink down. I opened my eyes to see Nick getting comfortable on the right. I knew I was gonna fall asleep soon considering I had just worked my leg out a little and taken some pain killers. I knew the video shoot was gonna be really tough on my leg, so I had been pushing myself to do some excersizes. I closed my eyes again and pulled my hands out from under the sheets and placed them on top of the comforter. I tend to get hot one minute and cold the next. It's quite odd. I tried to drift off to sleep when I felt something on my right hand. I opened my eyes. It was Nick's hand and for some reason he was touching the promise ring he had given me.
"Linds? You up?" He asked softly.
"Yeah, I'm up. Something bothering you?" I asked looking towards him. He looked at me with his hair a little tousled. I could tell something was bothering him when he ran a hand through his hair a few times.
"I was just thinking about some stuff. Stuff that's been bothering me lately." He said looking at the ceiling.
"And that would be..." I urged him.
"Sometimes I hate this business. It's so hard to do certain things. I mean, it's great I can go to school without being hassled, but I can't always go out. I never get a chance to date girls and now that's the major thing bothering me. Brian just met this girl like two weeks ago and they're almost inseparable." Nick began.
"Leigh-Anne?" I asked.
"Yeah." He said looking at me. "Now all he does is talk about her. How's she's an actress and all this other stuff. And it bugs me that I can't find anyone. I can be so lonely so-" Nick started until someone opened the door to our room.
"Hey guys." Brian said walking into the room. Brian looked at us. Our hands were still the way they were before. "Ummm...Linds, you never took your hotel key, so Kev gave it to me for you. I would've dropped it off earlier, but I was on the phone with Leigh and-" Brian said.
"That's great, Bri. Thanks a lot, but we're trying to get to sleep." I said sitting up a little and taking my hand away from Nick's hand.
"Yeah, sorry about that. Your key is over here. Goodnight guys." Brian said as he left the room. I slowly got up and made my way towards the bathroom. When I got out, Nick was wide awake and staring at a blank wall. I walked to the bed and sat down slowly to make myself comfortable. Nick looked at me. I had to think of something to say.
"Nick, look...you're a great guy and it's a shame you can't have what Brian has, but I'm sure one day everything will turn out the way you want it. You hafta understand that the career is going to take a lot of your time. One day maybe when things slow down, you'll find a girl who can love you for who you are." I said. I couldn't think of anything else, so I made this really big smile and Nick laughed. "OK, now I'm tired and I need my sleep so I'm not in pain tomorrow." Nick nodded and we said our 'good nights' and got comfortable.
~Next Morning 6:32 AM~
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"Stop the insanity!" I said covering my head with the blankets and resuming
my comfortable position on Nick's stomach. There it was again.
Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock!
"I'm coming, I'm coming." Nick said getting out of the bed. My head dropped
onto the mattress with a thud. The door opened and AJ walked into the room.
"Hey Nick. Good Morning Linds." AJ said throwing the covers off the bed.
"You guys should start getting ready. We gotta leave for 7:00 and I heard
there is a mob of fans outside the hotel." AJ said before he walked out of
the room. Nick went into the bathroom to do his morning stuff while I tried
to fall back to sleep. I heard the bathroom door open and then Nick jumped
on the bed. He looked so cute. His hair was all matted to one side. I laughed
lightly and messed his hair up a little more.
"Time to get up, time to get up." Nick said and began to jump on the bed.
When did he become s morning person. I slowly sat up and got out of bed.
To my surprise my limp was almost gone and my back didn't really hurt. I
pushed Nick on the bed roughly and proceeded to walk to the bathroom, but
not without lifting up the long shirt I was wearing so Nick could see the
smiley face on the boxers I was wearing. I heard him laugh, so I began to
wiggle my butt back and forth.
~In The Van~
After running out of the hotel and trying to avoid the screaming fans, we
were all packed into this huge van that was going to take us to this studio
we didn't even know the name off. Howie, AJ, and Kevin were sitting in the
back row, while I was situated between Nick and Brian in the row of seats
in front of them. I yawned and placed my head on Nick's shoulder. I closed
my eyes.
"Yo, Nick, how's she doing?" AJ asked from the back-seat.
"Well, she's not limping as much and I think her back pain has stopped. I'm
sure she'll be ready for her video shoot tomorrow." Nick said. Brian looked
at Nick.
"Lou told me about some of the video they're going to be shooting. Fatima
is gonna choreograph some of it. I hope she doesn't hurt herself. Y'all know
how Fatima can work a person." Brian said. The guys agreed and I was woken
up when the van made an abrupt stop in front of a building. We all grabbed
the backpacks we had brought and walked into the building. A woman named
Meg met us in the lobby and told us where to go to get into our clothing.
I was really nervous. I've never done anything like this before.
We all walked into a back area with a few dressing rooms set up and one make
up room to the far left. Meg introduced the guys to a young woman named Val
while I met a woman named Kim. She seemed just a little older than me. The
guys disappeared and Kim led me to racks and racks of clothes. "All right,
let's see. I was already looking for some stuff for you, but I think if you
were this, your eyes will stand out." Kim said holding up a dark blue top.
I nodded and she handed me a pair of kakhi capri pants. I looked at the pants.
"I can't wear these." I said. She looked at me funny. I showed her the brace
on my leg. "I was injured last week. Long story." I said. Kim laughed a little.
She seemed really nice. Instead, she handed me long kakhi pants that were
a little baggy. She said it would look nice if the pants were a little big
and the top was fitted. I nodded and walked into a room to get changed. Crap,
I need shoes. I opened the door to see Kim with a pair of white canvas platform
sneakers.
"These should work. Your foot will be flat, so you won't hurt yourself and
the little platform gives you some cushioning." I nodded and slipped them
on. "Now onto make up." Kim said leading me to the make up room. I peaked
into the room to see Brian sitting in the chair.
"OK, hon. You're done." The woman said letting Brian look in the mirror.
"Thanks a lot Jules." Brian said and turned around to see me waiting in the
doorway. "Hey Linds." He said hugging me. "You look nice. Not in pain, are
you?" He asked pulling away from me.
"Nope." I said. Brian looked at his watch. "Go ahead, the guys are probably
waiting." I said. Brian smiled and walked past me.
"C'mon on in." The woman said. "I'm Julie, but everyone calls me Jules and
I will be doing your makeup." She said nicely. After asking me questions
about make up I had used before and my skin type and stuff, she got to work.
I told her, I usually go for a subtle, natural look. She nodded and about
five minutes later, I was done. I hopped out of the chair easily and looked
in the mirror. Everything was very simple. My cheeks were a little flushed
from some blush she used and my eyelids were a natural color with an iridescent
shadow over that. Then my lips, were just covered in shiny lip gloss. Everything
looked really good. Then, she said this guy, named Vince was gonna do my
hair. I walked into another room and found Vince prepping a chair for me.
We introduced each other and asked me questions about the guys and stuff.
He worked on my hair for ten minutes and I was done. All he did was give
me a little volume and curl the ends of my hair so they would go in different
directions and be really bouncy. Think... Jennifer Love Hewitt in Can't Hardly
Wait, but just the hair.
~Ten Minutes Later~
I met the photographer named Georgio something. I was in mid pose when all
the guys came running onto the set. The photographer went with it and so
did I. We all began to make wacky faces and do some pretty creepy poses.
It was so much fun. All the guys were decked out in variations of black leather.
Leather jackets, leather pants, etc. They looked really good. I went to change
my outfit into black leather too. The photographer wanted me to take a few
shots with each of the guys. Kim picked out a pair of black pants, a black
muscle tank with a black sheer overlay, and a three 3/4 sleeve leather jacket.
My make up was redone a little heavier for a different look, and my hair
was put into six cornrow looking things with the rest of it hanging loose
and curled the way it was before. First, I took pics with Kevin, and then
three more with Howie. AJ strolled onto the set wearing a black leather cowboy
hat. I decided to pull it off and use it for the shots. After AJ left, Brian
and I did three serious shots and two goofy ones. When Nick walked onto the
set, we were wearing almost the exact same thing. Georgio told us toe stand
as if we were looking into a mirror at ourselves. Then we took some interesting
funny shots. The last shot was the one that surprised me. Nick wrapped his
right arm around my waist and picked me up off the ground a little. He turned
to kiss my cheek while my right hand was pressed against his chest. Nick
placed me back on the ground and smiled. That was going to be a great picture!
