Chapter 29

I pulled up to Brian's house hoping he was home. I saw his jeep in the driveway along with another car. After flipping out about losing my ring, I decided to see if Brian had it. My mom didn't want me to leave the house, but I disobeyed her and hobbled out of the house.I parked my car on the street and hopped out. I wobbled to his door and rang his doorbell...once... twice...and then the door opened. There stood a girl a little older than me. "Hi, can I help you?" she asked sweetly.

"Yeah, hi. I'm Lindsay. Is Brian here?" I said shaking her hand. She let me into the house. "Bri?" I called walking into the hallway leaning on my crutches. His bedroom door was closed. "Rok? It's Lindsay." I said knocking on his door. He opened the door a second later wearing nothing but a pair of jeans. I smiled and laughed a little.

"You rang?" He asked with a drawl. I laughed.

"Yeah. Have you seen my ring? The one Nick gave me?" I asked hopeful. He tapped his chin with his pointer finger and scrunched his face. I began to get impatient and started tapping my foot.

"Actually, I do. I remembered one of the nurses saying they removed your ring to do a blood test. They didn't want the ring to get stuck if your finger would swell up. Then they gave it to me and-" Brian began.

"Bri, can I just have the ring?!" I said. I didn't want a story! He walked into his bedroom and pulled the ring out of a pair of jeans and handed it to me. Then, the woman walked next to him.

"Oh yeah, Leigh, this is Lindsay. Lindsay, this is Leigh-Anne" Brian said. We smiled at each other. She seemed nice.

"OK, well thanks a lot Bri. Gotta go now." I said giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Nice meeting you, Leigh-Anne." I said quickly and let myself out of the house. I jumped into my car with a little difficulty and placed the ring on my finger. I gazed at it and smiled.

~Friday (11 am)~

"I swear I've only been awake for like an hour and I've heard the same song three times!" I yelled at the radio. I had gotten up an hour before and changed into some baggy, comfy clothes. My mom wouldn't let me up the stairs. She was afraid I wouldn't be able to get back down them, so I was situated on a kitchen chair watching my dogs play with a toy I bought them last week. I began to listen intently to the radio when I heard Will's voice come over the speakers. They went to a commercial break and suddenly my phone rang. I stood up slowly and reached over the counter to pick it up. "Hello?"

"Lindsay? Hey, it's Will."

"Hey Will. I was just listening to you." I said before he began speaking again.

"Linds, are you all right? We got a news bulletin saying you were in the hospital. I tried calling your house, but no one picked up. How are you?" He asked with concern. I went on to explain the entire story of my injury. I told him he could still come over tomorrow night. I'll be able to move around a little more. After our short conversation, I decided to take a nap. During my nap, I was woken up three times. the first call was form my mom just checking up on me. You know how mothers can be sometimes. The second call was surprising. It was Miss. Malloy. She said it would be a good idea if I didn't sing at the concert. She didn't know if I could handle everything. I was really disappointed. At least, my good friend, Carrie would take my place. She has a great voice. Then, I got a call from Lou. He wanted to know how I was feeling. Then he dropped the bomb. Next week was to be a four day weekend and he signed BSB and I up for a photo shoot in New York. I would also be shooting my video for the single out on the radio now. I was a little frustrated considering I'd still be using crutches and I'd be in pain.

~Winter Concert~

I sat in my seat quietly. My mom drove me to the school so I could see the choir perform. Miss. Malloy said she'd have a front row seat saved for me. I walked into the auditorium late. I found my seat and waved to my friends on the risers. I saw Nick standing near the piano. He saw me and walked over to me. He hugged me tightly and got back in his place. The piano began and Nick picked up the microphone. Carrie looked at him with a puzzled look. "Sorry to interrupt the concert, but I wanted to dedicate this entire show to Lindsay. She should be up here singing with me, but she was in an accident and Carrie will be taking her place. Get better, Linds." The entire choir seemed to look at me at the same time. That was so sweet. I couldn't stop smiling.

~Next Saturday (en route to NY)~

"Yeah, it was nice. We just watched some movies and talked. He's a really nice guy." I said referring to Will. The last week went by real quickly. I was in school, but with my crutches. My back was almost healed. I still got pains sometimes, but for the most part, it was all good. The cast on my lower leg had been removed and I now wore a brace type thing to make sure my bones stayed in place and I was only in need of one crutch. I was using the phone on the plane talking to Kristin. She had been sick the entire week and wanted to know what happened with Will. I hung up the phone as I heard Nick come back to his seat next to me.

"How're you doing, Linds?" Nick asked. So far, I had been complaining about back pains and the fact that I had never been on a plane before didn't help either.

"Better..." I said not too reassuringly. He sat down and looked at me.

"You should try to sleep. Here, lean on me." He said easing me over onto his shoulder. I rested my head on the pillow on his shoulder as he carefully threw a blanket over my body.

"Thanks Nick." I said before I closed my eyes. I heard him humming the tune to my song before I fell asleep.

~Hotel Lobby(Saturday Afternoon)~

"OK, so who am I rooming with?" I asked as the room keys were passed out.

"Well, sorry Linds, but you gotta share with one of us guys. We tried to get you your own room, but the computers in the hotel shut down and the reservations got screwed up." Kevin explained. I looked around the group of guys who seemed to quiet down all of a sudden.

"Well, Kevin...you snore." Kevin looked at me sadly. "Howie, you wake up too early." Howie nodded. "Brian, I'm afraid of what you'll do to me while I'm sleeping." Howie smiled widely and then got calm again. "And AJ, you're too loud in the bathroom." AJ looked at me oddly. "So, that leaves me with Blondie." I said looking at Nick.

"Cool, let's go." Nick said picking up both of our suitcases.

"Night guys." I said resting on my crutch. I slowing walked over to the elevator Nick was holding open for me. We got into the room, to find only one bed and a little couch, sofa thing that looked really uncomfortable. Nick threw the suitcases onto the bed and scratched his head.

"You can have the bed. I'll take the couch." Nick said turning on the t.v.

"Are you crazy? We'll share the bed. It's big enough. I don't even think Aaron could fit on the couch." I said plopping down on the bed opening up my suitcase.

"Yeah I guess you're right." Nick said laughing. "Are you sure it'll be all right with your leg and stuff?" He asked. I poked my head out of the suitcase.

"It's fine. I'll take some pain killers and I'll be fine." Nick cringed when he heard me say pain killers. "Calm down, you baby. I'm not in too much pain." I said looking for my pajamas. "Crap. I forgot my p.j.'s. I knew I forgot something." I said irritated.

"Chill out. You can borrow one of my shirts and some boxers, OK?" Nick asked looking through his suitcase. It was a mess. After a few minutes, he whipped out a Nike T-shirt and a pair of red plaid boxer shorts with a smile on the behind region. I laughed. "Shut up! I think they're funny and besides... they do the job." Nick said throwing them at me.
