Chapter 12
Okay, so I'm sitting here chilling in my favorite pizza joint with…..AUBREY!!! Yeah!! Finally some much needed girl talk!!!
"So, that's what's been happening here." Aubrey finished with a big grin after explaining that her and the guy she had had a crush on for what seems like forever had FINALLY gotten together.
"That's great Aubs!!" I said flashing a smile.
"Yeah!! But, I want you to tell me what's up with that gorgeous ring on your finger…" she said with one of her eyebrows cocked.
"Well, lemme see, Nick gave it to me for my birthday."
"oooohhh, isn't this Nick guy the one you've gotten pretty close to??" she asked.
"Yeah, that's the one." I said "It was so sweet, he asked me to wear it as a symbol that we will always be close friends. He had me in tears when he asked me to put his on him. So, I did and then, well, I really don't know what happened, I guess we almost kissed or something." I said, still not really understanding everything that had happened that afternoon in the bus.
"What do you mean you GUESS that you almost kissed or something???" she asked sarcasm stressing every word.
"Well, we inched nearer and nearer, and then AJ yelled at us about something from the front of the bus. Nick said something like, 'nothing happened right?? We're still friends right?' and then we left." I said, trying to recall all the details of that day.
"Christy, you've got it bad!!" Aubs said triumphantly
"Gosh, what is it with you people and me and Nick being in love, we are NOT in love okay???" I said
"Yeah, yeah, think what you want, WE know the truth." She said with a smug grin.
"Annnyway, I had better get this pizza home to the guys, I swear Aubs, they are going to eat me out of house and home if I'm not careful!!!" I laughed she and I shared a hug and then I told her I'd call her.
"GUYS!!!! PIZZAS HERE!!!!" I yelled as soon as I got in the house. Brian, Kevin, I counted them off making sure each of the three were there. "Hey guys where's Nick?" I asked when I realized that he wasn't coming down with them.
"Oh, I think he's sleeping in his room, you should go wake him up, for some reason he's always mad at us for waking him but I don't think he'd have a big problem with you waking him." Brian said with a wink
"All right, I'm going to wake Nick up but DON'T even try to eat the whole pizza without giving Nick a chance to grab a piece!!" I yelled with a cute smile.
"Gotcha, now GO!!" He said
"Nick?" I asked as I looked around the guestroom. He wasn't there, and so I decided to check my room, maybe he got bored and wanted a book or something I reasoned. I walked in my room and what do ya know, right there sprawled out on my bed hugging my pillow was Nick. I smiled and walked over to him.
Biting my bottom lip making sure I didn't laugh at his tousled appearance. I leaned over and whispered in his ear.
"Nick?? Wake up pizza's here." I looked at his face, it looked….angelic. Wait, I can't think like that, I'm his friend, NOTHING more. As I started walking out the door I heard it, a soft whisper, strong enough for me to hear.
"Christy, I love you!! Don't leave." I quickly turned my head causing a strong whiplash.
"Ouch!!!" I screamed and Nick woke up, I realized he had been dreaming when he had said it, which meant that I wouldn't have to ask him about it, thank goodness, but right now, I was trying to concentrate on the pain that had taken over my neck.
"Christy, what's wrong??" Nick questioned in an extremely worried voice.
"My NECK!!! OWWW!!!" I screamed as he tried to touch it. By this time we had an audience, Bri and Kev had heard me screaming and ran upstairs to see what had happened.
"Hey Nick, help me move her to the bed okay?" Kevin said taking charge.
"Yeah" Nick said. Brian had rolled down the sheets and Kevin and Nick lifted me and put me on the bed.
"I'll be….OWWW!!….Okay guys, just go eat, I'm going to try to sleep out the pain." Kevin and Brian nodded their heads and left. Nick just stood next to me, he grabbed my hand and entertwined our fingers.
"Christy, what happened?" Nick asked again.
"I think I got whiplash, I kind of turned really fast and it hit me hard." I explained.
"I'm sorry. Look, I'm hungry so, I'm going to go get a piece of pizza, would you mind if after I finish I come back up and sleep in here with you, I want to make sure your all right and if you need me that I'm right here." He explained, I smiled.
"Yeah, Nick, I'd like you to come and stay up here. I'm going to go to sleep now." He nodded and turned to leave.
"Nick??" I whispered. He turned around.
"Yeah?" he asked.
"Could you bring me some water." He chuckled, came over to me, planted a big kiss on my cheek and said.
"I'll bring you a whole pitcher." With that he was gone.
