Epilogue

*Kris' POV*

I saw Brian pick up my letter, from my vantage point by the door, and my heart tightened so that I felt like I couldn't breathe when he started to cry. Hot tears streamed down my face, and I could feel my resolve breaking, I wanted so badly to run in and say I loved him, that I'd never leave him, ever. That's when I turned around and quietly tiptoed down the hall and out the door, then ran to my car as my heart shattered just as Brian's had. I drove off, the wind drying my tears, and where I was going, I had no clue. I never looked back, but I whispered a promise to him, one he wouldn't know about for a long time to come.

"I'll be back again, Brian. When my life is set straight, I promise to come back. After all, you are my shooting star, someone I've always prayed for. I love you!"

As I drove off into the night, I glanced up at a sea of stars and saw one falling, and smiled. The last time I saw one was the night I'd met Brian, and so much had changed since then, but there was so much more to come, I knew.

"Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, grant this wish I wish tonight." ******
