Chapter 20
Tiffany's View
It's 10:30PM and Brian and I are in our room watching TV in each others arms.
"Sleepy at all?" he asked softly. I only shook my head, "Are you?"
"Nope," he said. Just then the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it princess," Brian said. I pulled back from out of his arms and watched as he got out of bed a walked out of the door. A couple of minutes past and then I heard movement by the door. I looked up to find Darlene standing there and Brian behind her.
"Darlene!" I said. I hoped out of bed and just stared at her. Brian looked at me and pointed down the hall and then mouthed, 'I'll be down the hall.' I nodded my head and waited as he walked off.
"Um hi," she said quietly. "Can I sit down?"
"Yeah of course!" I said. She walked over to the bed and sat down.
"Sorry if I woke you guys," she said.
"Oh you didn't wake us. We were only watching TV," I said.
"OK," she said. We sat there in an awkward silence for a few minutes but then I broke it by saying, "Look Darlene. I'm very sorry for telling Brian about all this. He just wouldn't leave me alone about it and I thought I could trust him to keep it."
"It's OK. I understand. I guess I would have told if I were you. It's a big secret and it makes you want to tell somebody."
"So you're not mad?"
"No not any more. At first I was really pissed but then I got to thinking about how I was just overreacting."
"You didn't overreact. You had ever right to blow up at me."
"I guess I did but I don't want our friendship to end."
"Me neither," I said.
"So we're friends again?"
"We've always been friends," I smiled. She smiled back and hugged me.
"Sorry for coming over so late. I just couldn't wait until tomorrow."
"It's OK, I'm glad you came over."
"OK well I'll leave so you and Brian can get back to watching TV," she winked. "If that's what you were even doing."
"Darlene! You never change!" I laughed. She just laughed and got up. I led her downstairs and then to the door.
"I'll talk to you tomorrow," she said.
"OK bye," I said.
"Bye," she said walking out of the house and to her car. I closed the door after she drove off and walked up the stairs smiling. I looked up and found Brian leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed and a small smile on his face.
"What?"
"So Darlene forgave you?" he asked.
"Yup," I smiled.
"That's good. Now we're back to normal," he said walking in after me as I walked into the room. He closed the door and got into bed beside me.
"So wanna go to bed?" he asked.
"No," I shook my head.
"What do you want to do?"
"Talk," I said.
"MAN! I was hoping you'd say something else," he smiled. I just rolled my eyes.
"I was only kidding. What do you want to talk about?"
"The wedding," I said. He looked at me surprised.
"What?"
"I just didn't expect you to bring that up. We haven't even talked about it yet. I mean the only time we even mentioned it was when I proposed to you when...ya know right before I died," he said softly.
"Yeah I know but I really want to get married."
"Me too but we don't need to rush anything."
"I know but I just think since we're on our second child I just think it's time that we do get married."
"Yeah I know what you mean," he said. "So do you like the ring I got you?"
"Oh yes I love it!" I said.
"I just wished I could have proposed to you in a different way," he said sadly.
"I'm glad you proposed to me and it doesn't matter how you did do it all though I do wish you weren't dying when you did propose."
"Yeah I know. See the night I left to record the songs I got reservations for the next night to go out to dinner and then we would go to the beach and I would propose to you there just like I did when I asked you to be my girlfriend but when I got home you weren't there."
"That's so sweet of you. If only we could have gone."
"I know. I did have something else planned," he said.
"And what might that have been?"
"Well, Nick and the guys were gonna watch Michelle and when we would get back to the house it would be all dark and candles would be lit all around and when we would get to our room the windows would be open and rose pedals would be everywhere. Champagne would be by our bed and strawberries, cherries, and chocolate would be right beside it."
"Really? How romantic," I said dreamily.
"Yeah I know and then we would make love the rest of the night," he said looking into my eyes.
"I wish we could have done that," I said softly.
"Me too but hey maybe it will happen," he smiled.
"I hope so," I smiled back.
"We better get to bed," he yawned.
"OK," I said. I turned the TV and then snuggled up against Brian. Brian turned the light off and then wrapped his arms around me.
"Good night," he said.
"Night"
