Chapter 22
Brian's View
We just got to the mall and to me we've been walking
around forever. We've been in maybe three stores and only a couple of things
were bought. Tiffany seems to be having a good time but she seems tired.
I keep asking if she wants to go home to get some sleep but she always refuses
to leave. Oh well whatever she wants I'll do for her.
"Oh look at this!" Tiffany said picking up and teddy
bear. It had a diaper on, a pacifier in it's mouth and a bottle in it's
hand.
"This is sooo cute!" Tiffany gushed.
"Let me see it," Darlene said. "This is the cutest
thing!"
"Brian we gotta buy this," Tiffany said.
"But isn't that for a girl baby or something? I don't
want my son having baby teddy bears," I said.
"Brian," she said taking the teddy bear back and looking
at me.
"What?"
"I'll buy it for myself then," she said walking up
to the counter.
"Oooohhhh I think you got her mad now Bri," Darlene
teased.
"No, I didn't get her mad," I said. I looked at Tiffany
and sighed. I hope I didn't make her mad. Tiffany came up to us with the
teddy bear in a sack and asked, "Where are we going now?"
"Baby clothes," Darlene said.
"OK," Tiffany said. I took a hold of Tiffany's hand
and walked to some baby store that was right next to a Mc Donald's.
"Hey how about you guys go get some baby clothes and
I'll go get us some lunch," I said.
"OK," they agreed.
"If you need anything I'll be right over there," I
said pointing to Mc Donald's. "What do you guys want?"
"Anything is fine," Darlene said.
"Yeah get me whatever," Tiffany said.
"OK," I said. I kissed Tiffany on the cheek and then
walked over to Mc Donald's. I turned around and found Darlene and Tiffany
just entering the store. I then turned back around and all of a sudden I
ran straight into a girl. Her bags flew out of her hands and she fell to
the ground.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" I said bending down to help her
pick up her things.
"Oh it's OK," she said.
"I should have been watching where I was going. I'm
really sorry," I said standing up to see her face for the first time. WOAH!
Babe alert!
"It's OK really," she smiled. I smiled back and gave
her her bags. She's about 5'6, blond hair, blue eyes, skinny, great tan,
and she's wearing a black mini skirt with a pink halter top and black
clogs.
"OK I'm still sorry though. Can I make it up to you
somehow?"
"Oh no you don't have to do anything," she said.
"Well, I still feel bad. I was just about to get lunch.
I'll buy you a coke or something. It's the least I could do."
"Well, OK but that's it," she smiled. I smiled back
and got in line. She got a table near the back and sat down. I got my lunch
and then bought an extra coke and then walked over to her. I sat down and
smiled.
"Here you go," I said giving her the pop.
"Thank you," she said.
"So what's your name?" I asked popping a fry into
my mouth.
"Melissa," she said taking a sip of her drink. "And
you must be Brian right?"
"Yeah that's right," I smiled. "How can you tell?
I'm wearing my glasses and hat."
"I just know your face to well. I'm a very big fan
of yours," she smiled.
"Really?"
"Yeah I love your music. I've been a fan for
years."
"Thank you," I smiled. She just smiled back.
"So do you live around here?"
"Yeah actually I just moved her from Cali," she
said.
"That's cool. Where do you live?"
"Somewhere over by the beach. I just moved in
yesterday."
"Cool," I said.
"So how are you and Tiffany?" she asked. I coughed
on my food and looked at her surprised. I didn't see that question
coming.
"Sorry maybe I should not have brought that up," she
said blushing a little.
"Oh no it's OK," I smiled. "We're doing great!"
"That's good to hear. I've been hearing that you two
are engaged."
"Yup we haven't set a date yet but we'll get married
sometime. I don't know when. We're kind of busy with the new baby coming
and all."
"Oh yeah I forgot about that. How is she doing?"
"She's doing pretty good. She's getting bigger and
she's eating more but that's normal."
"Yeah well I wish the best for you guys," she smiled.
Her smile is so pretty. WAIT! BRIAN! HELLO! You're engaged!
"How's your daughter Michelle?"
"She doing great! She keeps getting bigger and bigger.
She's at home right now. Nick's watching her."
"Cool so where's Tiffany?"
"Oh she's over in that store shopping with her friend
Darlene. They're going baby shopping today and they dragged me along so I
could hold their bags," I said rolling my eyes. She just giggled. I smiled
and slightly laughed. She has a nice laugh too. BRIAN YOU DUMBASS! TIFFANY
IS THE WOMAN YOU LOVE! REMEMBER THAT!
Tiffany's View
Darlene and I walked out of the store with tons of bags in our hands. We
practically bought the whole store out. I saw something I liked and bought
it. Same as Darlene. She bought more things though. She's really getting
excited about this baby thing. I'm happy for her and Nick. I'm just glad
they finally found each other. I gotta take some credit. I'm the one that
hooked them up.
"Where is he?" Darlene asked looking around.
"I don't know," I said. I looked over at Mc Donald's and found Brian sitting
at a table with a very attractive girl. They were sitting there laughing.
"He's right there," I said softly pointing to the table he was sitting at.
"Who the hell is he sitting with!?" Darlene exclaimed.
"I don't know," I said.
"C'mon let's go yell at him," Darlene said grabbing my hand and dragging
me over to the table. Brian looked at us a little shocked but then smiled.
The girl smiled as well.
"HI!" I'm Melissa. You must be Tiffany and Darlene. It's nice to meet you!"
the girl said standing up and holding out her hand for me to shake it. I
put my bags down and took her hand in mine. I shook is slowly and said, "Hi
it's nice to meet you Melissa."
She smiled at me and then shook Darlene's hand. All the while I wanted to
smack Brian.
"I accidentally ran into her after you guys went into the store. I had to
make it up to her so I bought her a coke," Brian said looking at me hoping
that I wouldn't yell at him.
"Wow what a way to meet," I smiled.
"Yup. Well, it was fun talking to you Brian but I gotta go and Tiffany probably
wants to go baby shopping some more. It was nice meeting all of you," Melissa
smiled. She got up and picked her bags up and walked away.
"Bye!" Brian said. She turned around and waved. After she was out of sight
I turned to Brian and said, "You just ran into her huh?"
"What? I did," he said.
"Yeah right," Darlene said
"Oh come on! You think I ran into her on purpose! I am not the least bit
attracted to her if that's what you're thinking. I'm in love with you and
you have nothing to worry about," he said.
"I think he's lying," Darlene said in my ear.
"I'm not lying!" he said but I could tell he wasn't being totally truthful.
I'll just let it slide. I mean we're never going to see her again, right?
She's out of our lives now. We'll never see or hear from her again. So there's
nothing I should worry about. So why do I feel so uncomfortable and uneasy?
Please don't let anything else happen to me and Brian. We've been through
enough and I don't think I can handle anymore hurt.
