Chapter 42
Nick's View
I just put Christian and Michelle to bed. Darlene
thought I should put them to bed because it would give me more practice for
when our baby comes. That reminds me, it's getting close. I'm getting nervous
about the baby being born. It can be any day now.
"Darlene honey? Are you almost done?" I asked.
"Yeah I'm done," she said walking out of the bathroom
in her pajamas and putting her hair up in a messy bun.
"I love those slippers on you," I laughed. She had
these fuzzy slippers on. She wears them every night before she goes to
bed.
"Thanks!" she smiled. I went in the bathroom and got
ready for bed and then came back out. Darlene was in bed watching TV. I climbed
in next to her and kissed her cheek.
"Give me the remote," I said.
She looked at me and then said, "Excuse me?"
"I mean please give me the remote."
She smiled and said, "No."
"C'mon, please," I said.
"Oh, be quiet, I'm going to bed anyway," she said
and turned the TV off. She turned off the light and snuggled up next to me.
I wrapped my arms around her and kissed the top of her head.
"Are you excited about the baby coming?" she asked.
I opened my eyes and said, "Yeah kind of, I'm a little nervous."
"I am too," she said softly. I squeezed her and said,
"Everything's going to OK."
She sighed and said, "I hope so."
"Don't worry, as long as we're together everything
will turn out fine."
"OK," she said.
"I love you Darlene," I said.
"I love you too, goodnight," she said.
"Night," I said and slowly drifted off to sleep.
AJ's View
"Hey Colleen?" I asked.
"Yeah?"
"Can I please kiss you again?" I asked. She giggled
and nodded her head. I leaned forward and kissed her softly. I pulled away
and smiled.
"That's better," I said.
"You're strange," she laughed.
"Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment," I said.
She just smiled at me.
"When are you leaving?" I asked.
"I was supposed to leave like 1 or 2 weeks ago but
I decided to take a longer vacation. I don't know when I'm going back. Why
do you wanna know?" she asked.
"I was kind of wondering if you would like to be my
girlfriend," I said.
"Really!?" she asked excited.
"I wouldn't ask you unless I meant it," I slightly
laughed. "So what do you say?"
"Of course I'll be our girlfriend!" she said happily
and hugged me.
"That's a relief. I thought you might have said no,"
I said.
"No, I was hoping you'd ask me out," she said.
"I'm glad you like me that much."
"I do like you, A LOT," she said.
"I like you too and I was also wondering if maybe
you would want to move in with me. It does get lonely around here with no
one to talk to," I said.
"You want me to move in with you?" she asked
surprised.
"I knew I should not have asked that."
"No, it's OK, I was just surprised that you asked
me that. I mean a lot of people in relationships move in with each other
during their 3rd or 4th month together or even longer."
"Yeah I know but...I really like you and well...I
thought that we would grow closer together if we moved in with each
other."
She smiled at me and then said, "I'd love to move
in with you Alexander."
"GREAT!" I said happily. "I mean that's really good
to hear."
She rolled her eyes and hit me lightly on the
leg.
"You should be lucky that you're my girlfriend. My
Mom is the only one that can call me Alexander," I said. She just smiled
at me and kissed my lips. I have a good feeling about this relationship.
