Chapter 60

Brian's View

Everyone is here now except Vince, Nick and Darlene. Nick called and said they were running late cause Hannah couldn't find her favorite hat. Nick was getting really impatient. I could tell, I think if Hannah wasn't so young he would have choked her. Poor kid.

"Brian honey...someone is at the door. Can you go get it for me please?" Tiffany asked.

"Of course sweetie," I smiled sweetly at her and then walked into the house and to the door. I opened it and found a boy around 15 looking around nervously.

"Uh hello Mr. Littrell...my name is Vince," the boy smiled up at me extending his hand for me to shake it.

"Oh hey Vince...it's nice to meet you," I said shaking his hand. I examined him as I shook his hand. He was 5'6 maybe 5'7, blond spiky hair, and blue eyes, he was tan and he seems to be quite muscular. He must play football or some sport. I can see why Michelle likes him. He is her type.

"It's nice to meet you too Mr. Littrell. It's a pleasure meeting you. Michelle talks about you a lot."

"She does?"

"Yeah she does. She says you're very nice and funny," he smiled.

"That I am," I grinned. I like this kid. He seems nice.

"So do you play sports at all?"

"Yeah football in the fall and soccer in the spring. Sometimes I play baseball in the summer," he said looking around the house.

"Wow, you must like sports."

"I do, Michelle told me that she's gonna come to a lot of my games and cheer me on. I can't wait for that."

"Why is that?"

"So everyone will know what a wonderful girl I have as a girlfriend," he smiled.

"That's very nice of you Vince," I said.

"Hey daddy...hi Vince," Michelle said coming into the room and giving Vince a big smile.

"Hey Angel," I smiled.

"Hey bab...I mean Michelle," Vince corrected right away. He was about to call her baby. I don't really like the sound of that.

Before I could say anything the door flew open and in ran Nick and Darlene's kids. Alyssa and Ryan ran in giggling and laughing at something. They said a short 'hi' and then ran in the back yard. Little Hannah came running in after them holding her little yellow hat on her head. She looked so cute. Michelle and Vince walked away and toward the backyard.

"Hey wait for me!" she called trying to catch up to them. Before she could go any further I picked her up and started to kiss her cheeks.

"Uncle Brian! Stop it! It's tickles!" Hannah screeched wiggling around in my arms. I laughed and put her down. She then ran off in the back yard.

"Darlene! You can't be serious!" I heard Nick yell from outside. Darlene walked into the house and turned to him.

"What's so bad about it? My parents are just coming over for a couple of weeks," Darlene said.

"You know your parents hate me! Your father gives me these evil looks all the time like he wants to kill me or something."

"That's not really a bad thing," I said. Nick and Darlene turned to me.

"Hey Bri," Darlene smiled at me and then turned back to Nick. "We'll talk about this later."

"Fine," Nick sighed and then turned to me and smiled. "Hey Rok...sorry we took so long. Hannah doesn't go anywhere without her hat."

"It's OK! We got all afternoon to have fun...you really didn't miss anything yet," I said.

"OK good," Nick said walking toward the back yard. Darlene looked at me and slightly smiled.

"Are you two in another fight?" I asked. She walked over to me and looked after Nick.

"You can say that...my parents are coming down for a few weeks to just visit and Nick wants me to tell them to just stay in Colorado. He doesn't want them down here at all He says my parents hate him. They don't HATE him...they just dislike him that's all."

"Why do they dislike him?" I asked curiously.

"The first time they met Nick they didn't seem to like him much. I dunno why...I guess it's because he's wild and his personality doesn't really strike my father as good."

"I'm wilder than Nick and Tiffany's parents loved me. I have a good relationship with them."

"Yeah I know but my parents aren't really like that. They're serious and not really into the humor stuff," she sighed. "I know they don't mean to be mean to him. Nick just won't let it slide and just face the fact that not everyone will like him. Whenever I mention my parents he groans and starts to bash them. I don't like that at all."

"I wouldn't worry about it Darlene...at least not right now. I'm sure everything will turn out fine. Things always turn out fine in our relationships," I smiled at her. She lightly smiled at me and sighed.

"I guess you're right...Let's go party for now," she smiled.

"Sounds good to me!" I said taking her hand and leading her into the backyard. Yet another conflict...it never ends. Whenever I think everyone's happy another problem comes forth but I guess it's normal in life.
