Chapter 61
Brian's View
"AJ! Jesus! What the hell are you doing!?" I yelled
running over to the barbecue. AJ was trying to flip the burgers I guess and
they ended up on the ground.
"I'm trying to show off my many talents, so back off
Barbie," he said putting on this little chef hat. I looked at him weird and
then snatched the hat off of his head.
"Give me the spatula...a professional needs to be
handling the food," I said sticking out my hand for him to give me the
spatula.
"I'm not giving you anything Rok...just watch and
learn," he said.
"AJ! Half the food is on the ground," I said pointing
to the ground.
"Your point being?"
"You're wasting food!"
"I am not! See Rok, you just don't get how I handle
things. I was feeding the dogs...they need to eat to ya know," he said facing
me.
I rolled my eyes and tried to grab the spatula out
of his hands.
"Bri honey? Just let him cook the food," Tiffany giggled
coming over to us.
"Yeah listen to your woman man," AJ nodded.
"But I was the chef," I pouted.
"Aww...just let AJ have his fun...besides it'll keep
him busy and it'll stop him from making a fool of himself."
"I guess you're right," I sighed. "OK Bone have your
fun."
"I'm already having fun...now go away, you're ruining
my concentration," he said.
"AJ! Stop being such a pest," Colleen yelled from
over at the table.
"Baby don't even start with me," he said shaking his
head. Colleen just stuck her tongue out at him and smiled.
"You know I still love you! You can torture me all
you want but I'm not going to stop loving you," AJ said.
"Good to hear," Colleen smiled. AJ grinned and then
turned back to his work. Tiffany went back over to the table to talk with
the other wives and I looked over at Michelle and Vince who were sitting
on the grass REALLY close to each other. Vince was smiling and saying something
and Michelle just sat there giggling. I really didn't like this site at all.
I walked over to them and cleared my throat. They both looked up at me and
smiled.
"Hello Mr. Littrell," Vince said.
"Can I talk to you for a minute Vince?" I asked. Vince's
smile faded a little and Michelle looked at me nervously.
"Um...sure Mr. Littrell," Vince stammered getting
to his feet. He started to walk towards the house and I followed right behind
him. Once we entered the house I led Vince into the living room and sat down
on the couch. Vince sat in the chair across from me seeming rather
nervous.
"So Vince...how long have you been with my daughter?"
I asked leaning forward.
"About a month," he said bouncing his knee up and
down.
"And you really seem to like her," I said.
"Yes I do...she's a very nice girl."
"Yes she is and I get worried when she has a
boyfriend."
"Why is that? I would never hurt her or push her to
do anything she wouldn't want to do. I'm not like that and if that's what
you're worried about then you shouldn't worry. I treat girls with respect,"
he said.
"I just know what guys can do to girls.
Tiffany...Michelle's mother...has been through a lot with guys and I'm just
worried that Michelle might go through the same thing and I don't want
that."
"Well, Mr. Littrell you have nothing to worry about.
I'll take care of her," he said.
"Look Vince...I love Michelle very much. She's my
first child and I'm responsible for her. I just want her to be safe so I'm
telling you now that I don't want you hurting her or doing anything she doesn't
want you to do. Now, she better not doing anything too mature just yet. She's
still so young and I hope Tiffany and I have taught her well enough for her
to wait for certain things. Have your parents taught you the same things?
Do you even know what I'm talking about?"
"Yes I do know and my parents have taught me the same
thing. Like I said before Mr. Littrell, I'm not like that, I don't hurt girls
on purpose."
"That's good to hear, you seem like a good boy and
I'm happy that Michelle picked someone who cares much about her."
"I do care about her. I care about her a lot," he
said seriously. I nodded and smiled slightly.
"OK Vince...I just needed to talk to you about that,"
I said standing up.
"It's OK Mr. Littrell... I've been through one of
those talks before but the other father was more threatening," he lightly
laughed getting up from his chair.
"I would have been more threatening if you looked
like some kid that smokes pot and walks around acting like he's black," I
laughed. He smiled at me and said, "Well...I guess I'm lucky."
"You are...believe me," I grinned. Vince smiled at
me and walked back outside. I followed behind him and stopped when I saw
AJ flip a burger up in the air and wait for it to come back down. Instead
of in landing back on the barbecue it landed on the top of his hat. He looked
up and around him trying to figure out where it went. I chuckled and just
walked over to Tiffany who was holding Hannah in her arms. I sat down and
kissed Tiffany on the cheek. She smiled at me and went back to playing with
Hannah.
I looked around me at the sight of my friends and
family and smiled thinking to myself...how can life get any better than
this?
