Epilogue

The crowd outside the Orlando Arena in Orlando, Florida, collectively held
their breath on Friday, October 13, 2000. The legendary myth of Friday the
thirteenth was in the back of everyone’s minds. Yet this was the most
anticipated day since the past seven months, when Tia Robinson passed from
the physical world to the heavenly skies.

Today, Brian Littrell was back on stage. Healed emotionally, and ready to
move on. Group prayer backstage was held in memory of Tia, and the tight
circle that consisted of Megan, Brian, Kevin, AJ, Howie, and Nick was
silent, with one thought on their mind: Tia. Silence was everywhere. No one
paid any attention to the roaring screams they heard just behind the
curtain. All hearts and minds were concentrating on their friend.

“In memory of Tia, always,” Brian whispered, and looked up.

The rest of the Backstreet Boys and Megan looked up simultaneously, all with
a smile on their lips and unshed tears in their eyes. Because Tia was the
kind of girl who put a smile on a face without being there in physical form.
Because Tia made you want to forget the trauma and inner turmoil of anything
else. Because Tia was their unforgotten refuge.

Walking down a dusty road all alone
Talking to myself about you, now that you’re gone
And I ask myself why the sad song
I hope you carry on.

I know you see the tears and understand the pain
As you watch us from above, we’ll be together once again
Tell me where have all the good times gone
I hope you carry on

But I miss the way you laugh
And I miss the way you smile
And I miss the way I felt with you
When I think about these times, I try to find a smile
Don’t feel bad if a tear comes too

Trying harder to forget you went away
Little things come to remind me every day
Of how I wish that you never would have gone
I hope you carry on.

But I miss the way you laugh
And I miss the way you smile
And I miss the way I felt with you
When I think about these times, I try to find a smile
Don’t feel bad if a tear comes too.

Don’t feel bad if a tear comes too.

The only thing that keeps me going anymore
Is the thought that this old road might someday lead me to your door.
But until that day I hope you carry on
And I hope you hear this song
I hope you hear this song

And I know you hear this song.

In memory of Thomas Bagley III.
