Chapter Seven
Nadia was upstairs in her room, looking through the boxes and Howie was right next to her. He opened up a box with pictures inside and saw one that caught his eye.
"Hey, where was this?" he asked her.
"Oh, that was at the carnival in Lexington about 2 years ago. That was when Christy and Michely were still there with us..." she choked up on the last part, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Hey, hey, don't cry. They're here with you now. And they don't seem like they're going to leave anytime soon." he soothed, rubbing her back.
"Oh I know. You're right, it's stupid to cry. Ok I'm better now, thank you." she said.
He looked at her with those big brown eyes, and she fell. She fell in love and into his arms. He kissed her softly, as if testing her, but she hugged him tighter and deepened the kiss.
"There! Finally! That took forever, huh?" Kevin said.
"Yeah, damn these people eat." he chuckled then said, "I'm beat. Wanna go watch some good old TV? I think there's a movie on tonight." He glanced at his watch. "Oh, it's 6:00 pm..if these people are going to get in the pool they'd better hurry up over there."
"Yeah what could be taking them so long?" she asked.
"I don't know, you know how the guys are just by spending the day here."
"Yeah, I feel like I've known them my whole life!" They just chuckled and went to the living room. They both sat down on the couch each in their own space. The movie "Carrie" came on.
"Ah, this is what I was looking for." he said, and put down the remote.
"What movie is this?" she asked.
"You don't know? It's a great scary movie. I don't want to give anything away because I think you'll like it."
"Oh man, a scary movie? You might not believe this, but I don't really like scary movies. It depends though. If it's really scary, I get nervous." she explained.
"Oh well, then in that case, don't worry. I'll protect you. Don't worry nothing will happen to you." he grinned at her and put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her towards him.
Her lips brushed against his briefly, and they both looked at each other and stared for a moment. Then she moved forward and kissed him ever so softly.
He kissed back, and then whispered in her ear, "I think this is going to be a good night."
"I think so too." she replied. She gladly laid her head on his shoulder and watched the rest of the movie.
Nick during this whole thing was just walking around the house, and it seemed he had walked in on something he shouldn't have when he went outside. "Oh, hey sorry you guys..uh, um, my bad." he stuttered.
AJ and Michely were outside, kissing of course but not anything major. In fact they were kissing very passionately.
"Um, hehe, that's ok Nick..." she stuttered. AJ turned his face to face the other side as if he wasn't there.
Nick was always in something. "I'll uh, just make my way back. See ya guys." he said. Slowly he walked back in the house. 'Man where is everybody else?' he thought.
'Probably doing the same thing I walked in on outside. Let me go call my girlfriend. This reminds me of how much I miss her.' So then Nick went to the nearest phone downstairs which was in the kitchen. He picked up the receiver and dialed his girlfriend's long distance phone number.
Melissa walked into what she thought was her room, and sure enough it was.
"Oh how cute! It's decorated in blue...oh what a coincidence!" she laughed. Brian was equally surprised to see that the room was in his favorite color. "You know, blue is also my favorite color. I come from that state myself, and I always cheer our team on!" she said.
"Well, of course! It's good to know that you appreciate where you come from." he smiled. Come on let's look through those boxes. Let's find those swimsuits, and get into that pool!"
"Oh I don't know Brian, isn't it a little dark? It's 7:15 already."
"Well yeah, but the pool is warm, I've got a heater. And I do have lights in the backyard set up especially for that. Agreed?" he grinned at her that lopsided grin he always gives that just makes you want to melt. (You know what I'm talking about, right? Yeah of course you do.)
"Oh, how could I refuse with that grin of yours. You do know how to make me smile Brian Littrell."
He just smiled at her and took her hand. "Come on let's start digging!" After a while they found her beach stuff, and she took out 2 swimsuits.
"This one's for me, and I'll lend this one to Christy. I wonder if she's still soapy from washing the dishes. Hehe she's gonna be mad for leaving her there. Oh well." she smiled at him.
To her surprise, she saw that he was staring at her when she turned to him. "Hmm?" he mumbled.
"I said, whatcha lookin' at?" she said mockingly.
"Oh nothing, just, at, well, you." he replied. Her heart melted. "Really? Any special reason?"
"No, no, none at all...just, well, because you're a good view...in the good way." he smiled.
'Oh that does it, I'm making the first move!' she thought as she leaned down
to him. 'What's she doing? She's gonna kiss me? Yes! This is what I've been
waiting for all day..man I really like her.' he thought as he gladly kissed
her back.
