Chapter Six
"Now where did everybody go?" Kevin asked Christina.
"Oh I don't know. Oh there they are, they're across the street. I guess they're gonna get the swimsuits." she said, looking out the living room window.
"Well let's get back to the dishes. Who knew 9 people could eat like a crowd of 20?" she remarked.
He chuckled and simply said, "Oh I don't know. I tell you, it's the guys. They're always hungry. Brian could eat a horse now, and AJ could go and eat the whole McDonald's menu. Then Nick, he'd eat anything you put in front of him. Now me, I couldn't eat another bite." he claimed.
"Yeah, me too. Hey Kev, watch out!" she said as she threw a bunch of soap bubbles in his direction.
"What the....oh so you're gonna play like that, huh? Well, watch it!" he said as he hurled two hands of soap bubbles her way. Soon enough, the kitchen was covered in bubbles and so were the 2 responsible.
AJ came running in, and he just stood at the door for a few minutes watching the 2 who didn't even notice he was there. "Yo, guys, the kitchen man. Have consideration for the kitchen!" yelled AJ.
"Oh shut up AJ! Hehe how long have you been there?" Kevin asked.
"Oh, long enough. Hey do you know where the keys to the house are?"
"Well, of course: on the keyring."
"No not to our house dummy. To the girls' house."
"Oh yeah I put it on the table in the living room."
"Alright thanks. And Kevin, you're responsible for this stuff! Hehe!" chuckled AJ as he ran out of the room.
"Aww, damn him....what a crazy...." mumbled Kevin. Christy just giggled her head off.
Meanwhile, Meli, Nadi, Michely, Brian, and Howie were on the front porch of the girls' house.
"What could be taking him so long? The counter is right next to the door. Oh, there he is." said Brian.
He was coming out the door with Nick behind him. "Hey, sorry for taking so long. Nick got bored of playing Nintendo so he decided to come with us." AJ explained.
"Hey, I haven't seen you guys for such a long time!" Nick yelped.
"Oh yeah right! Anyway, let's open the door to our new house!" Melissa said.
"Gladly!" exclaimed Nadia as AJ handed her the key. When they got inside, the girls were ecstatic.
"Oh my god! Look how pretty!"
"Oh man check out the back!"
"No way, I'm checking out upstairs!" And 2 seconds later, the guys were the only ones inhabiting the front door.
There was so much to explore, and the girls were having fun just looking. Michely was checking the upstairs part of the house, while Nadia went out back, and Melissa went to check the downstairs. The guys had not been quick enough to see where they girls had gone so they split up too.
"Ok guys here's the plan. We meet back here in 10 minutes. If you don't find your way back, scream as loud as you can." Brian joked.
"Ok, ready? 1, 2, 3, break!" The guys split up, AJ going out back, Brian went upstairs and Howie checked downstairs. Of course, the girls each were looking for were in different parts of the house. So each of the guys dragged the girls they found back inside, met at the front door, then went off again with the girl they came with.
"Oh, what a sweetheart!" said Nadia as she went to what was to be her room. It was a cute, comfy room, painted a light lilac color.
"Jeff put all my stuff in here so I didn't have to fish through them downstairs."
"Cool, he's really nice. Purple? That's my favorite color." said Howie, who was right behind her.
"Mine, too! Well, let me get to digging for my stuff, then I'll check out the house."
"Ok, I'll help you."
Michely had gone out back this time, and was walking around the pool with AJ at her heels.
"Man, what a cool house." she said.
"I've been wanting to move out of my house for a long time now. Christina has too."
"Well maybe you could move in with them. It'd be cool since you guys want to spend a lot of time together. And, well, I wouldn't mind having you as a neighbor." AJ lowered his voice on the last part, so low Michely almost couldn't understand him.
But she knew all too well what he had said. "Well, I wouldn't mind having you as a neighbor either..." she whispered high enough so he could hear.
He looked up at her and smiled. "Come here, let's sit down for a while." he said and patted the lawn chair next to him. She gladly went over and sat down. 'I gotta come here more often! I love this guy, he's so sweet and romantic...wow' she thought.
'I dig this chick, I really do. I gotta talk to the other guys about this..' he thought. He struggled to see her, for it was already dark. But, then his eyes adjusted to the dark and he saw her perfectly. He whispered in her ear, "Maybe we should get to know each other better..."
"I think so, too.." she whispered back, but was interrupted by something warm against her lips. She couldn't see him, but she knew what it was: he was kissing her, yet ever so softly. Gladly, she kissed back.
Melissa had gone to check all the rooms downstairs, but knew she should go upstairs to her room to look for those swimsuits. Brian was right behind her, making her laugh a mile a minute with his crazy sounds. All you could hear inside was laughter that echoed for the house was still empty. Their furniture was sprawled all over the place in a corner.
"How Jeff fit all that stuff in that corner I don't know.." she said going up the stairs.
"I dunno, magic?" he said in a little voice. Melissa giggled and walked up the stairs.
'This is a great night...can't it last forever?' she thought, and sighed a deep sigh.
"Is everything ok?" Brian asked.
"Yeah, oh yeah, everything's great." she replied with a smile on her face.
