Chapter Fourteen
"You guys! What the hell?! You guys have to think about it! For the last half hour I've been hearing you people blabber on and on about how, well how they told you they loved you ten thousand times and one, and how they also promised to never break your heart..But people think about it! They came clean with us, and we have just left them there, with their heads hanging down, and we have just treated them like the worst pieces of trash in the world!" Michely exclaimed, knocking everybody back.
"Yeah, sure, I do feel guilty leaving them like that, but, how could they say those things then just leave us?!" Nadia argued.
"It's their life people! Can't you see? They were too scared to tell us for the same reason why we're acting like this! They probably think we're some selfish bastards who only care about how their leaving is going to affect us! They did us a favor by not telling us before so we wouldn't act crazy, and what's more, they didn't tell us before seeing if we really loved them for them!" Michely exclaimed, putting all the pieces together in her head, then arguing her case out loud.
All the girls looked at her, all had long ago stopped crying. Slowly, comprehendingly, they started to drop their mouths in realization and nodding to each other.
"Oh, man...poor....poor Kevy-kev." Christy said out of realization.
"Man what have we done?..." whispered Melissa.
"Are you like, well like the wise one of all of us? It's not like you didn't scream at AJ either, but, you seem to have it all together." Nadia told me.
"Well, I guess I just figured it out when I was balling my eyes out here. It's all true if you really think about it. And you know what? I think we owe them an apology for acting so stupid like that. Yeah sure they'll be gone, but we know we love them and we know they love us. So let's go over and apologize. This is stupid already." Michely replied. All the girls nodded in agreement and wiped their eyes.
Back at the boys' house, while the girls were arguing, the guys had silently split up. Brian had just stared as Melissa had run out the door, and hadn't moved his eyes from the still-open door. AJ sat in the Lazy-Boy, staring at his feet. A word had not come from him yet, and neither had Brian. Kevin was upstairs in his room somewhere, and from what AJ and Brian knew, they didn't even know if he was still alive. For all they knew he could've killed himself from depression. The look on his face as he went up the stairs expressed how he was feeling. Howie had followed Kevin up the stairs but went straight to AJ's room, slammed it, and locked it. Not a sound came from there as well, just a bit of rustling, and a thud sound. All of a sudden, Brian reflexed. He moved his eyes toward AJ in the Lazy-Boy, and he was still the same. After a minute or two, he heard a soft sound. He stared at AJ, realizing it came from him. AJ had started to whimper while still looking down at his shoes, while he played back all the moments he had spent with Michely right up until this point. He thought of their happy times, which was all the time, and then he thought of today, the day that could've ended his happiness for good. Brian realized this, and laid back. He sighed deeply, and tried to stifle his tears. Of course, this was impossible. He just started to flow, and let it all out. AJ finally looked up, and Brian could see a tear-strained face. His puppy-dog eyes were the saddest eyes Brian had ever seen. He had never seen AJ this way, over anyone or anything. They looked each other in the eyes, and then they nodded. For no reason, they just knew to nod. What were they to do, if the girls left them? They loved them too much to think about it at the moment, and they lowered their heads once more, as AJ started to sniffle and whimper once more. Brian had already assumed position crying once more.
Upstairs, Kevin was pacing around his room. After a long time of thinking about Christy and her smile that made him chuckle, or her jokes that made him laugh, or her cuteness that made him smile pleasantly, he collapsed on the bed, and broke down. He had not been known by the other guys to cry. AJ and him were both not known to cry about anything or anyone. They were the toughest and the ones who tried to hide their feelings. But this, he couldn't hold in, and knowing AJ, he bet he was already crying like a baby downstairs where he had left him and Brian. He just sat on his bed, crying his guts out. He never had experienced pain like this, and while he cried he thought of what the other guys were doing, mostly Howie who had locked himself in the room, and from who he had heard a thud a while ago.
In AJ's room, seated in a yellow bean bag the guys got for him, crying his
life out as well, was Howie. A broken vase lied on the floor, and he just
stared at it while tears streamed down his face. He couldn't believe he had
actually thrown that vase. He was sure the guys downstairs had heard it,
and apparently they knew it was him. But he had shocked himself after he
had thrown it, because he'd never expressed himself in such an angry manner.
He thought of this as violence, and he had never been violent in his life
toward anything or anyone. He regretted throwing the vase, but all he could
do was stare at it, his eyes puffy and red, and wide with fear. Fear that
he could lose the one thing that meant the most to him in his life: the girl
of his dreams.
