Chapter Thirteen
::Let's say a month later because this is seeming to be a very long story::
Michely was sitting on her front porch, reading her mail, and looking occasionally at AJ's house. Yes, her porch. The girls were ecstatic. Michely and Christina had moved in with them after all. All couples were happy, and very much in love.
Every day, AJ had a rose for Michely, and it varied in color. One day it would be red, the next white. It changed as much as his hair color and hairstyle did. She persuaded him to die it blue-green after a while, and he thanked her for the idea. He digged the color. But hey that's AJ.
Brian always had a joke to brighten Melissa's day when he knew she was upset or sad about something. He had enough love for her to accomplish world peace.
Howie continued being a wonderful gentleman and the sweetest guy on the planet towards Nadia, since it seems to be of his original nature to act that way. He always had a little gift for her, whether it was solid or not.
Kevin and Christina couldn't be happier. After that night watching that scary movie, they knew they were for each other. Kevin always included her in everything and was always proud to announce that, yes, she was indeed his girlfriend.
Now, the bad side to all this was basically that: the guys had very reluctantly not told the girls they were the Backstreet Boys. They thought, we just got together, let's see if they can love us for us first. But that was a month ago. They had gotten a call from management just yesterday and they had been told the tour starts in a month. What were they to do? They had no choice. But they felt it was time. AJ called the girls' house around 11 in the morning. Michely and Melissa were the only ones up, but they were outside so they didn't hear the phone. Christina and Nadia always were the sleepy heads of the bunch.
"Ugh, hello?" whispered a very groggy Christina into the phone.
"Yeah, uh, Christy? This is AJ."
"Oh hey baby wassup?" she said, still trying to open her eyes.
"Nah, nothin' much, but I need you 4 girls to come over as soon as you can."
"Why, is something wrong dude?"
"No, no nothin's wrong, don't worry, but us guys really got to talk to you about something. Let's just say it's very important."
"Well, alright, I think Michely and Meli are already awake, but I'll wake myself up as well as Nadia. Yeah...uh-huh..yeah sure don't worry sweetie..right...bye."
"Who was it?" said a groggy Nadia.
"It was AJ. He says all the guys want to talk to us about something really important."
"Oh well let's go tell the girls."
"Alright...ugh ow..." she gritted her teeth as she banged her ankle on the night table getting out of bed.
About an hour later, the girls showed up on the guys' doorstep, but they didn't even ring the bell. They just walked right in. Everyone except Nick was in the living room all sitting around. *Sorry Nick lovers, but he doesn't seem to be a lot in this story I know. I just don't have a lot of space for him. Again, sorry!*
"Hey guys wassup?" Michely said and walked over to AJ who was reaching out to her.
"Hey beautiful." She blushed and he just smiled at her. All the girls walked over to their respective boyfriends and looked at each other.
"So what was so important that you guys needed to talk to us about?" Melissa said from Brian's lap.
"Yeah what's up?" Christina piped up.
"Well girls, ok um, have you ever heard of a group called the Backstreet Boys?" Kevin asked nervously. Murmurs of I-don't-know's and I-think-so-but-I'm-not-so-sure's circulated around the room. Then Kevin looked at Brian and then AJ then Howie.
They all nodded and AJ asked, "Well, um, see if you recognize this." he said. He counted to 3, then they all started singing.
The girls were surprised, who knew they would just start singing. ".....who you are, where you're from, as long as you love me, I don't care, who you are, what you did, as long as you love me..."
When they finished, Nadia piped up, "Oh hey! That's that cute song I heard the first day we moved in. Me and Melissa were across the street and Brian was washing his Jeep, and that song was playing."
"Oh yeah! I've heard it. Are those the Backstreet Boys? They sound really good, and I've also heard another song of theirs called, um, what is it, uh..." mumbled Michely.
"Oh yeah, it's 'I'll Never Break Your Heart'. I heard it on the radio a bunch of times." replied Christina.
"Yeah, well girls you see um, we.." AJ started but lost the words.
"...we ARE the Backstreet Boys." said Howie, finishing for AJ.
"Oh come on, do you guys expect us to believe that? That's crazy!" Melissa remarked.
"We know that's why we have back-up. AJ, get the CD. Look girls, the CD cover shows us, as the Backstreet Boys. And if you still don't believe us, we'll show you a video." Brian claimed. As the CD cover was passed around each girl looked at it then around the room and gasped. This was crazy!
The guys sat them down and showed them the video of "Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)", and the girls just sat there shocked. Why didn't they tell them before? When the video was over, all the girls were still staring at the blank TV.
"Um, girls?" Howie asked, a bit worried at their reactions.
"Why didn't you tell us before?! What took you so long?" piped up Nadia. All the guys started talking at once, showing clear signs of nervousness.
"Well we just didn't...."
"..really know how you..."
"...you would've reacted, we didn't know how it could...."
"....could've changed our relationship." finished AJ.
"But I guess we aren't like most girls," said Christina.
Kevin looked up as Christina continued, "We already love you guys enough, and just because you are famous wouldn't change our love for you." She bent over towards Kevin and gave him a soft peck on the cheek. The girls looked at their boyfriends with love in their eyes.
"Well, I think we see that now. We couldn't see it before because we weren't so sure of our love for you and vice-versa." remarked Howie.
"But this is not going to make a difference. We're going to love you forever, whether you ARE the Backstreet Boys or not." claimed Michely, looking straight into AJ's beautiful brown eyes. All he could do was smile and kiss her hand lightly, and cradle her in his arms. All the guys did the same to their girl, and then the girls looked around, and Michely thought, 'Oh this is gonna be a long day.'
After the guys explained why they hadn't told them in the first place, the girls understood. They nodded in agreement. Then comes the bad part.
"Ok well, you see girls, there's one bad thing to all this. Ok the thing is, well, we uh, have to um,..." Kevin started.
"We have to..well you know since we're famous and everything there are tours going on and well, we uh, we have to go on one a month from now..." his voice trailed off when he saw the girls' reactions. All the girls stood up and stepped back from their places on their boyfriends laps.
"What?!" they all screamed in unison.
"Guys, it can't be it's too soon! What are we gonna do when you guys are gone?!" Nadia exclaimed.
"That's what we don't know girls. We don't know how we'll go with out you girls. It is a very long time to be apart from a new girlfriend. We understand that. We don't know what we're gonna do..." Howie explained.
"Well maybe they can go on tour with us!" suggested AJ.
"AJ that isn't possible because we wouldn't be able to take all of them, and even if we could, Nick would want to take his girlfriend too, and that Donna would say no to." Kevin said, very matter-of-factly.
Melissa almost broke into tears, Brian walked to her and started rubbing her arms up and down.
AJ stood up and walked to Michely who was trying to ignore his puppy dog eyes, he lowered his head onto her shoulder. "A month is too soon, too soon..." he whispered in her ear. She sat down with her head against his neck, and sobbed quietly. How was she going to leave him for almost 4 months? The rest of the guys and girls thought the same thing, as the room grew uncomfortably quiet.
Christina was just as upset as Nadia was... she couldn't look at Kevin.
"Was this planned out?" Nadia asked looking at Howie with a face of sadness.
"You promised you would never leave me in my hour of need... you said you would never break my heart." All the guys looked at Howie as he sighed and looked at his shoes.
"Kevin you told me a thousand times that you love me and now you're leaving? You were playing us all!" Kevin stood up with a pleading face.
He grabbed her arm, but she just shook him off. "Baby... please... I love you!"
She turned to him, "Stop saying that!" she ran out the door.
"See what you guys did?!" Michely yelled at them. "She's going to have a breakdown!" Michely stood up and ran after Christy.
Nadia followed, Howie held her arm trying to talk to her, "Howie..." was all she could say and turned around to chase her friends.
Melissa stopped crying and stared at Brian. "I need time to relax... Brian." She stood up and wiped her tears. She ran after the girls yelling stop.
All the guys looked at each other. "Well that was great... now they hate us." Brian said trying to cheer up the guys."
"If they took it anymore better they would've thrown things at us." Howie said going upstairs .
"At least we told them... I guess they loved us so much that they couldn't take it..." AJ replied staring at his empty lap. Kevin didn't talk he walked upstairs and went to his room.
Christina's head was dug into her pillow, her tears burned her face. Nadia was sitting next to her, rubbing her back. But she was crying too. Michely was sobbing on Melissa who was staring blankly at the wall.
"How could he do this to me?! I was pouring my heart out to him and he was enjoying every minute, and now he says he's a Backstreet Boy and he needs to leave for a tour!" Michely exclaimed. Christina looked up from her pillow, tears streaming down her face.
"How do you think I feel?" Michely looked at Christina and went back to crying.
"We're all acting like a bunch of idiots! The guys told us the truth and didn't expect us to take it this way! They were brave enough to come clean with us!" Melissa snapped back to reality.
"Well, don't you think I know that? But listen to this: Howie said he would never leave me in my hour of need and that he'd never break my heart.... and now he's leaving me when I do need him the most: when we're just a new couple and I need him around most of the time!" exclaimed Nadia all of a sudden.
The girls reacted to her outburst, by all starting to cry, even Melissa who
had resumed her position staring at the wall. "Kevin..he, he told me..that,
well..he kept whispering in my ear over and over again that he loved..that
he loved me...I was foolish enough to believe him, and that...that broke
my heart!" Christina splurted out, before she resumed crying.
