Chapter 5

Later on the day, Summer went to look for Nick, hoping to find out something.

"There must be an angel. There must be something that will make him give in," she thought.

Summer beat around the bush before coming to the point.

"Nick, I discover that you're a very nice person. Con you tell me what Brian like?"

"No. I won't betray my friend. Furthermore, I don't want him to sell the beach."

"Nick dear, please," Summer begged.

"Sweetness won't work on me. I weren't Brian. You found the wrong person. I'm not Judas."

Summer was gratified that she did found out something.

"Never mind. I won't force you. Anyway, thanks."

"Daisy, how to be sweet and gentle?" Summer asked Daisy who was at the other end of the phone.

"Are you a lady? It's very easy to be sweet."

"Well, the word 'sweet' never exist in my dictionary."

"Okay. Firstly, put on a sexy voice. Then, do some house chores, like cooking and washing."

"Huh? Sounds more like a maid."

"Why do you ask?"

"For selling the beach. If Mr. Hick likes sweet women, I can adjust."

"You sound horny."

"What horny? He thought I didn't know he's Brian of BSB. Well, if he doesn't want me to know, for the sake of 1.5 millions, I will pretend that I am having anemia."

"You and George just broke up but you sound okay."

"You didn't know. Our love faded long ago. The unfair thing was that he brought the breaking up first. You, my best friend have promise me to find the third-party but…"

Daisy interrupted, "Okay. I know what to do. My phone is running out of battery. Call you some other time."

"Okay. Bye."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Early in the morning, Summer was already awaked to prepare breakfast for Brian, as the first step to be a sweet lady.

When Brian woke up and came downstairs, she took her arm and made him sit comfortably at the dining table.

"Wow, a sumptuous breakfast!"

"I cooked it specially for you," Summer tried to speak sweetly.

"You sound weird. Are you having a soar throat?"

"No. Am I sweet?"

"I see. Someone tipped you that I give in to sweet girls."

"Are you hot?" Summer started fanning Brian.

"Cooler now?"

"I can't take this!"

Feeling effortless, Summer began hitting Brian with the fan in her hand.

"Hey, stop it. And you're not sweet at all!" Brian sprang from his seat and ran to the other end of the table. Summer took off her shoe.

"Don't throw it! Please be yourself but I won't sell the beach."

"You wasted all my effort. Go to hell!" After finishing her words, Summer threw her shoe over to Brian who was standing at the doorstep. Brian jumped away to avoid the flying shoe but accidentally knocked someone who was standing behind him.

"Bro, you're here! Then, I'll stay here," said the 16 year-old girl after seeing Brian.

"You know her?"

"No."

"Hello, Aunty. I'm Christine from US," she turned to Summer.

"Must you call me that? And you called him brother. He's much more older than me. Can't you see?"

"But if I addressed him as 'Uncle', how was I going to go on a date with him?"

"Okay. Pardon me. You've actually already thought so far."

"Bro, which is my room?"

"I don't know you."

"I told you I'm Christine."

"But this inn is closed. We don't rent out rooms anymore."

The sweet-natured girl began begging Brian.

"Please. I came here alone from so far. I can do the laundry for you. I can cook for you," instantly, she took the breakfast on the table and fed Brian with it.

"Mmm…not bad."

"Of course. It's me who cooked it," said Summer proudly.

"Are you hot? Let me fan you."

"Aiks, isn't this familiar? Oh, yeah. That's my line. You might as well give up. It won't work on him. I tried."

"It's very sweet of you, Christine. Well, there's still an empty room upstairs. You may stay."

"Thanks, bro!"

"Hey, aren't you unfair? I raised my tone a little and you said I was having soar throat and her efforts you said she's sweet."

"Yeah. At least she is natural."

"Fine. Then, you naturally let her stay here."

"Don't be so petty. Your cooking looks great."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was dusk. AJ, Brian and Nick sat on the verandah, playing their guitars and singing. Summer and Christine sat in front of them as the audience.

"Come to me

Watch the turtles swim

And crawl on the beach

Counting the waves

Don't be afraid

Of being lonely

I'll be with you

You'll be happy

Day by day

We'll grow up

Even if you don't know my song

Some day,

You…" when singing this word, Brian pointed his finger to Summer while Nick pointed his to Christine.

"…will love me

I think I'm not bad

Time hurries by, never turning back

You'll grow old

And I'll become an old man

We'll be hand in hand

Counting the waves."
