Chapter 6

After they finished singing the first song, Christine got up and went into the inn. The three started singing 'Happy Birthday' to Summer. A minute later, Christine came out with a cake and stood in front of Summer, blocking her view from Brian.

"How do you know it's my birthday?" she asked Christine.

"I didn't. Brian asked me to prepare it."

Summer bent her head and body a little to look at Brian who was looking sheepishly at her.

"Oh, you peeped at my passport!"

"Are you happy?"

Summer nodded and shyly, Brian tried to hide his face behind Christine.

After blowing the candles, Summer said her thanks to the guys.

"If you feel grateful, give us each a kiss!" said AJ.

Summer kissed both her hands and put her hands on both Nick an AJ's cheeks.

"And me?" asked Brian shyly, hovering for Summer's kiss.

"When you've decided to sell your beach!"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Cheers!"

They ate the cake and bottom up the beers and champagne. After about an hour, most of them were in a daze. Christine, Nick and AJ couldn't take it anymore and went up to their rooms to rest.

At the lobby, left Summer and Brian. Summer sat on a rocking chair, humming her song, "Happy or Not." She closed her eyes. Suddenly, Brian played the guitar and sang the song. That moment was poignant to Summer. She was touched.

"Why? How do you know this song?"

Brian didn't answer but continued to sing the song.

"You must have learned it for a long time. But you only heard it once." Summer couldn't hinder her tears from coming out of her eyes again.

"I'm touched," she paused, overwhelmed, "very touched." She then smiled at Brian and threw a fake 'kiss' at him. Still singing, Brian's unbridled happiness made him closed his eyes and smiled broadly.

"I bluff you," said Summer, laughing in tears. She then sang along with Brian.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"No more. I'm drunk," said Summer.

They two were lying on the floor next to each other after having more beers.

"Well, you always go swimming. So, your buttocks must be very firm. You must be strong. Am I right? Strong?"

Brian nodded, "Erm, yes. I guess."

"That's good then, very good," she giggled, "I'm very dizzy. Can you carry me up to my room?"

Soon, Brian were carrying Summer in his arms, walking up to her room. When they reached her room, Brian bent to put her on the bed and only now he realized that they were so close. He leaned over to kiss her but she suddenly put her hand over her mouth and shouted, "You stink! So and brush your teeth and wash your legs!"

In a daze, Brian got up and went into the bathroom.

"Must it be so fast? I'm only a little touch," Summer thought.

In the bathroom, Brian thought to himself, "No, she is drunk. I shouldn't do this. But why not just brush my teeth? I have to brush them anyway." After brushing his teeth, Brian washed his legs and put on some perfume he found in the bathroom.

Summer heard the doorknob been turned. Brian was walking out of the bathroom.

"What should I do? Don't come near me! I mean it. If you come an inch closer, I will kick you into the ocean," Summer clenched her teeth, closing her eyes, "Which leg should I use? Okay, the right one is stronger. No, no! I can't. He would see my panties. Decided!" Summer thought to herself.

When she felt Brian was near, she jumped up from her bed and punched her fists. But Brian was already out of the room.

"Don't you think that I'm so easily tempted," Summer said aloud.

Suddenly, Brian opened the door and said, "Me too."

Feeling hot and embarrassed, Summer shouted and hid herself under the blanket.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, the two were avoiding each other, feeling odd and embarrassed. When Brian saw Summer having her breakfast at the table, he sidled over to the verandah and sat down to have his own breakfast.

A moment of silence later, Christine came and sat beside Brian.

"Morning, Bro!"

"Morning."

Nick walked out from the inn too and asked Christine what would she like to have for dinner.

"What Brian is having."

"I'll go and prepare for you," Nick volunteered.

"Bro, I love the smell of men. SO, when you're with me, you don't have to bath, brush your teeth or wash your legs," Christine said out aloud, as if trying to tease Summer.

Summer who overheard it felt like finding a hole to hid herself in it. Promptly, she took her plate and went inside the inn. Brian followed her. They stood at the counter, stole a glance at each other and didn't know what to say. Finding the whole incident ridiculous, Summer started giggling and walked away.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Look at this!" said Christine while showing off a picture she drew to the guys.

"What's that? It's ugly," AJ commented.

"This is a treasure map! Let's go treasure hunting."

"Huh? Stop kidding us, kiddo," said AJ again.

The others weren't paying much attention as they thought she was just doing something to gain attention.

"No! You guys don't believe me." Tears started to stream down her cheek. Seeing Christine crying, Brian became panic.

"Okay, okay. Don't cry. We believe you."

"No. You don't. You just want to entertain me. This map, it's important to me," she was still crying.

"Hush, tell me slowly. I am listening."

"When I was small, my parents who were archeologists came to this island to study ancient things. But we met a storm on our way back and our ship sank. The strong current took my parents away and I survived."

"Okay, now I understand. You do not actually want to go treasure hunting. You just want to pay your respect to your parents."

"Yeah. I drew this map from what I remembered. Hope that it's the correct one."

"I promise you. We'll go, kay? Now, go and wash your face," comforted Brian.

Something crossed Summer's mind. She went to sit beside Nick, hoping to get more information.

"Nick, is it that Brian will promise anything when a girl cries?"

"Well, I won't tell you that it's his weakness."

"Thanks again," Summer grinned.

"Why?" asked Nick, feeling confused.
