Chapter 8

With his gentle hand, Brian wiped away the tears on Summer's face. He went closer to kiss her. They were so close that they could hear each other's rhythmic breathing. When Brian closed his eyes and was ready for the kiss, Summer suddenly said, "Can you get me a beer?"

Brian drew his face away from her and nodded. Immediately, he went to get the beer.

After fetching the beer from Brian, Summer gulp down one quarter of it. As if in a blink of an eye, Summer had turned to Brian who was sitting next to her and started kissing him. Although he was in a shock, Brian closed his eyes and fell deep into the kiss.

In Summer's room, on Summer's bed, Brian looked down on Summer, looking into her resplendent eyes. Brian put his hand on her hip but she stopped him.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't do this to you."

"No. You didn't do anything. I'm having AV."

"What? Allergy virus?"

Summer laughed, "No. Not that. Auntie Visits."

"Huh?"

"Every month, 'she' will visit me."

"I see. Then, I will respect you," Brian used his forefinger to touch Summer's petite nose, " and your Auntie."

"Did I make you unhappy?"

"No. At least I know that you're beginning to like me a little. Your love for me is rising."

"You're so sure that it will continue to rise?"

"I can wait."

"Well, it might tale months, even years or only 3 days."

"3 days later? It will be next Tuesday."

"Yes. Remember to come for your 'second interview' on Tuesday."

Both of them gestured 'two' using their fingers.

"I will get ready for it -bath, brush my teeth and wash my legs. I'll be immaculate."

"But I might not hire you."

"We'll see."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In those three days, Brian and Summer spent the most wonderful time together.

Hand in hand, the two walked along the beach, having a tête-à-tête.

"You like sweet girls. But I'm not sweet at all."

"Sweet makes me give in. That's not truth love."

"Women's tears scare you. Why?"

"Some men are just macho. When they see a meek woman, they would rush over to help and most of the time, ended up in troubles themselves."

"So? What does that mean?"

"Fools!"

In town, they went to the café for lunch and went shopping after that. When Summer picked up a blouse and said it was nice, Brian bought it for Summer even though she didn't say she wanted it.

"In your eyes, my weaknesses become plusses. Why?" asked Summer.

"Because…" Brian paused to think, "you're just simply gorgeous!"

Sitting on the swing, the two watched people enjoying themselves at the seaside, feeling the soft breeze blowing through their faces.

"We're from different worlds," Summer exclaimed.

"No. Unless you're from Mars."

"You won't understand," she sighed, "I'm from big city. How is it the same with village?" Summer was trying to make Brian spilled out the truth.

"Now, we've nothing better to do. Thus, we're the same."

"Nope. I'm going back to college. What about you?"

"A secret."

Teasingly, Summer pushed Brian. Well, she didn't want to force him to say something that he wanted to keep to himself. So, she gave up in making him speaking the truth.

She thought, "It doesn't really matter. As long as he loves me with a true heart."

Using his shirt, Brian shielded Summer from the sunrays.

"Don't be so nice to me. Don't steal my heart. I'm afraid that we might not be together," Summer confessed.

"Then, I'll quit now and take back everything."

"No! You're not allowed to do so."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Summer gently opened her eyes, she saw Brian kneeling by her bedside.

"Good morning," she greeted.

"Today is Tuesday." Brian put up his two fingers.

"That reminds me to pick up my laundry."

"It's my second interview!" Brian said as he jumped onto the bed.

"Am I hired?"

"I don't know!"

Brian began to tickle her.

"I don't care. I am hired."

"I don't know!"

In their laughters, they heard someone calling from outside."

"Brian! Brian! Get up! We've something to tell you."

It was Nick and AJ. Brian got up, opened the door and saw the two knocking impatiently on his own door, opposite to where he was standing.

"I'm here."

Both of then turned and were shocked to see Brian coming out from Summer's room.

"Oh…" they shouted.

"Shut up!" warned Brian as he closed the door behind him.

"You guys did…" said AJ.

"No. Shut up. Where's Christine?"

"Sleeping. She's probably too jaded after the trip," explained Nick.

"Don't change the subject," said AJ. The three walked to the living room.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"We're going out," informed Brian to Summer.

"To where?"

"There's a big surprise for you."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summer was brought to the lawyer's office.

"Are we seeing your lawyer?" asked Summer.

"Big surprise. Get it?"
