Chapter 9

"Are you selling the beach?" Summer held his hand. Brian nodded.

"Really? Yes!" Summer jumped with joy.

"Are you sure, Brian? I don't want to force you."

"Then, forget about it," said Brian jokingly as he turned to walk out but Summer pulled him back.

"No. Let me think."

While Summer was pondering on the decision, Brian was invited and brought by the clerk into a conference room.

"Okay. Don't sell." Summer decided and realized that Brian had already gone into the room. She went inside the room and sat next to Brian.

"Here are the agreements," the clerk handed the agreements to them,

"Roger will be back soon. If there is no problem or question, you can sign them first." The clerk left them.

Summer scrutinized the agreements.

"Don't worry. I'm sure it's fine," said Brian.

"I better read and understand it."

"Don't you trust me? I'm sure it's okay," Brian turned to the last page of the agreements, took out his pen and drew a turtle on it. Summer was shocked.

"What are you doing?" asked Summer angrily.

"Sorry. I made a mistake. Let's wait for the lawyer," he said nonchalantly as he tore the paper apart. The colour on her face receded. She was baffled. Just then, the door opened and instead of the lawyer, the George's imposter who Summer hired showed up.

"Roger is busy, George will do," said Brian sarcastically. Nick AJ and

Roger came in, grinning insultingly.

"Luckily someone informed us about the whole acting," said AJ.

Summer felt the sting on her heart.

"A practical joke?" she turned to Brian.

"Don't forget it. You started the whole thing," Brian replied.

"Nice scheme. We almost felt into your trap and sold the beach," added Nick.

"Now, you won't believe a word I said. There's no use for me to explain anymore." Summer tried to surmount the brickbats.

"No more acting please," said Brian coldly, "I can't believe it. You manipulated my feelings to get what you want. Summer Jane Anderson, you disgust me."

The feeling was like been thrown down from a high building, the pain, the impact were miserable to Summer.

"Fine. Don't worry. If really disgust you that much, I'll leave. I do have self-respect," she paused and looked disappointingly at Brian, "But you were fake too. You lied too. Even the promise was fake."

Summer stormed out of the office, feeling cheated. The whole incident boggled her mind. Brian tried to go after her but Nick stopped him.

"Let her go. She cheated on you."

The guys watched Summer from a window. When she walked pass Brian's scooter, she stopped and kicked it with all her might. After doing this, she felt better though only a bit better.

"We must thank Alice. If it wasn't for her, we wouldn't know that Summer was so wicked," said AJ.

"And luckily we got back just in time this morning to stop this horrible thing from happening. We warned you in time, Brian," Nick said again.

Somehow, inside Brian, he felt sorry for Summer. He thought they were too harsh.

"Are you unhappy, sis?" asked Christine who saw Summer packing up her things.

"Don't worry. I'm so happy that you called me sis."

"Did you have a fight with bro?"

"Go and ask your idol," Summer said in anger.

Christine found Brian sitting on a rock at the beach. She approached him.

"Bro, Summer is leaving. What happened?"

"You won't understand, kid," Brian forced a smile.

"Let's visit your parents' boat today. I'll go and get Nick," Brian suggested. The fact was he wanted to away.

"Great! Today is their death anniversary and the day you want to avoid Summer."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Those beautiful days she had as if vanished like a puff of smoke. Summer restraint herself from crying.

"Don't cry! I said don't cry. Must I cry?"

She took her luggage and left the tea inn.
