Chapter 10

Nick brought Christine on his boat while AJ was on Brian's.

"We're here! We're here! I remember this place. See, I remember this island. It's in a shape of turtle," Christine shouted in excitement. They stopped the boats.

Nick took out his scuba diving equipments and got ready. Christine gently out her right hand on Nick's forehead and her left hand on her own chest.

"Now what?" asked Nick.

"I can't swim. So, here's my spirit. I'm passing it to you. So, bring it with you."

"Silly girl."

She then handed a bouquet of flowers to Nick, "Lay this on the boat and bring up the 'treasures'."

"Is your spirit ready?" asked Nick as he took the flowers from her. Christine nodded. Without wasting any time, Nick dropped himself into the water.

When Summer reached the jetty, there was only one boat, which unluckily belonged to the two thugs she met at the pub.

"It's you, miss," said one of them, "Need to leave this island? Too bad, ours is the only boat left."

"I tell you. I'm in a hurry to the airport."

"But I thought we had grudge."

"Raise the price if you want. I don't believe that you've grudge with money."

"Okay. 100 bucks. Deal?"

"Bring the bags on then," Summer ordered. She didn't care anymore. All she wanted to do now was to leave this island.

"Can you see my parents' boat yet?" Christine said softly with her eyes closed and her hands close to her heart. Meanwhile, Nick found the sunken boat and put the flowers on it.

"Dad, Mum, this is Nick. He's bringing my respect to you. Dad, Mum, I love you," she opened her eyes, "Now, get the treasures."

Brian and AJ looked on.

Deep inside the ocean, Nick was doing his best to find the 'treasures'. His efforts paid off when he found two gold coins. Holding the coins tightly in his hand, Nick raised to the surface.

"Nick, did you find something?" asked Christine eagerly.

Nick nodded as he climbed up the boat and handed the gold coins to Christine.

"Brian, look! My presents from my parents!" Christine showed off the coins to Brian.

As Christine wanted to stay there longer, Brian volunteered to accompany her. Nick and AJ went back to the tea inn first.

Summer was dozing off on the boat when she heard someone calling her name. She opened her eyes and saw Brian's boat in a distance. It was coming the opposite way.

"Sis! Sis! We found the treasures!" Christine shouted excitedly.

"Must it be real?" she mumbled and walked to the deck to take a good look at the treasures. Brian who was stupefied when he saw Summer stopped the boat to let Christine talked to her. He didn't dare to look into her eyes, as he didn't wish to see the hatred in her eyes.

"Sis, we found gold coins!"

"Stop the boat! Who woke me up?" a voice shouted. The burly guy who Summer provoked at the pub walked out from the cabin.

"Gold coins? Where are them?" he asked as he walked over to Summer. He saw the gold coins in Christine's hand.

"So, there are really gold coins."

Out of nowhere, he took out a penknife and placed it on Summer's throat, threatening Brian to hand out the coins.

"Give me the gold coins!" he demanded.

Christine took a step back and hid the gold coins behind her. Brian who was worried about Summer walked closer to negotiate.

"Don't do anything silly," Brian warned.

"Don't waste your time, mister. He hates me and so, he won't save me," said Summer to the gangster.

"Christine, please. Give me the coins," Brian begged. Having no other choice, Christine unwillingly handed the coins to Brian who later gave them to the guy.

"Let her go."

"Only two? All right, you," he pointed at Brian, "jump off the boat."

Brian obeyed.

"Two of you, your turn," he signaled Summer and Christine to jump.

"We're land-lubbers!" Summer explained.

"I really can't swim," said Christine.

"If you don't jump, how am I going to search your boat to see whether there are any more gold coins?"

"Hey, don't be too much. The girls really don't know how to swim."

"Then, I will do them a good deed. I'll present them a life-buoy to practise," he laughed sinisterly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The three were left somewhere of the ocean. Summer and Christine held onto the life buoy.

"Bro, I can't go on anymore."

"Bear with it, Christine. I can the land. We're almost there."

"But I'm exhausted."

"Save her first," suggested Summer.

"But you…"

Summer interrupted, "Go!"

"Okay," Brian said as he took Christine in his arm.

"Hang in there, Summer. You can't give up. You still have many things to accomplish."

"I know. Don't cluck like a mother hen. Go!"

"Remember, you still haven't take your revenge on me. I'll be back for you."

When the reached the shore, Brian laid Christine on the beach and patted her face.

"Christine? Can you hear me?"

Christine nodded weakly.

"Hang on. I'm going back to get Summer. You stay here."

Once again, Brian was swimming in the sea, heading for Summer. When he reached the spot where he left her, she was gone. The only thing that he could see floating on the wide ocean was the life buoy without Summer holding on it.

"Summer! Where are you?"

Brian dived and dived and dived. But he just couldn't find his Summer.

"Summer! Stop this joke."

Feeling hopeless and helpless, Brian cried.
