Chapter 12
Summer and her course mates were walking down a street, chatting heatedly. She didn't realize that George walked pass her until he called.
"Summer?"
She turned and saw George having bandages on his face and arm.
"Why are you in Florida?" Summer asked.
"Why can't I be in Florida?"
"Fine. What happened to you? You broke your arm?"
"Yeah. You enjoy seeing me like this?"
"I sure do."
"Oh, you admit it! Shameless! Your boyfriend, what's his name, what Tea? He did this to me."
Summer giggled and truly knew that 'Mr. Tea' was Brian.
"He hit you?"
"What else? You sent him from Malaysia to bash me up. But don't worry. I hurt him too."
"You did?" Summer doubted.
"Of course. Unfortunately, I think I was too harsh and he ended up worse than me."
"Really?" Summer asked, "So, your hand still hurts?"
"Of course," George seemed touched by Summer's concerns and showed her his injured arm. At first, Summer placed her hands gently on his but later patted on it hardly. George whined in pain.
"I'm glad to hear that, George."

'The waves are asking me where are you.'
'Please give me a chance.'
Summer had vowed to herself not to read even one of his mails. When she was about to click on the button 'Delete', a mail enthralled her.
'I'm selling the beach.'
Summer opened that one.
'Hi, Summer. How are you getting on? I've been looking for you but I fail.
The company offers US $4.1 million. I've accepted it. The signing ceremony is on September 5th, 10 am, on our beach. If you don't show up in time, then the deal will automatically be off. They'll buy another beach then.
Hope to see
you on that day.
Sincerely,
Brian.

Sitting on his favourite spot, Brian recalled the time he spent with Summer. The joy on Summer's face when he fixed a water-heater was still fresh in his mind.
"Surprise!"
"Water heater? But I'm used to take cold showers."
"Huh?"
"I bluff you!"
Brian smiled to himself. But now all those memories seemed distance and unreal.
"Are you okay?" Nick asked as he and AJ sat down on the verandah. Brian was pulled back from his thought.
"I'm fine."
"Don't lie. You face betrays you. You were like a human losing his soul," said Nick.
"Did we screw up the whole thing? You love her more than this beach," AJ added.
"As your buddies, we should support your decision," Nick tried to cheer him up, "Despite that we might be 'homeless' during summers."
At last, the typical smile came back to Brian.
After AJ and Nick left, came Christine. Brian knew all of them was worried about him but there was nothing he could do to stop himself from behaving like that.
"Bro, are you fine?"
Brian nodded.
"Although I don't really understand things between you and Summer, I still hope to see you two patch things up before I go back to US."
"Thank you."
