Chapter 13

On the day of the signing ceremony, many people came to witness it.

"It's almost time. Will she show up?" asked Nick to Christine. They didn't know Brian was near them and was listening to their conversation.

"Don't worry. She'll some."

"I agree. But it's hard to say. We don't know whether she received the e-mail or not. And will she forgive Brian?"

"I've done all that I could," said Brian solemnly.

"Brian, you're here? Sorry. I didn't know."

"It's all right, Nick," he said as he walked up the verandah and sat beside Roger at a table.

"I'm optimistic. I think Miss Anderson will be here in time," said the representative of the company, Mr. Wong.

Unexpectedly, Alice came.

"In movie plots, she will come. But…" everyone eyed her, "Okay. I'm just telling the truth."

"Summer is here! Look!" Christine pointed her finger at a lady wearing the familiar hat, dress and sunglasses walking from a boat towards the inn. Christine ran over to the lady, too her arm and lead him to the inn. Brian stood up. When the lady took off her hat and sunglasses, the hope and joy on Brian's face faded away. She wasn't Summer.

"Hi. You're Mr. Littrell, I suppose."

"Yes."

"I'm Summer's lawyer and I'm representing her for this ceremony."

"I'm Mr. Littrell's lawyer. Can you show me the Power of Attorney?"

"Sure. Here you're," she handed Roger a paper and after reading it, he proposed the ceremony to begin.

Summer's lawyer read through the agreement and stamped her initial on it. The disappointed Brian finally put his signature on the paper. Promptly, he rose to go.

"Wait. My client has an official message for you. Overall, she's very happy with the deal. But she said no thanks to you because she deserves it. Finish."

Brian was ready to go when the lawyer once again detained him, "Now, a private message. Summer asked that why are you so down-to-earth? If you couldn't find her yourself, you could have hired a private eye."

"I did. But…"

"And lastly, she wants me to tell you that if by tomorrow afternoon 1 o'clock you don't reach New York to meet her, then you'll never…"

Feeling that he was in cloud nine again, Brian didn't let the lawyer finished her words. He ran into the inn, took his passport, and ran out again towards the beach. He ran backwardly to the boat, shouting, "AJ, Nick, I need a chartered plane to New York! Call now! I'll rush to the airport."

When he finished saying that, he turned and just like a miracle, Summer appeared right in from of his eyes.

"What's the hurry?" she asked him.

"Summer?" he couldn't believe his own eyes.

"I love to watch your panic face."

"I'm yours and I can't run away from you anymore. You're in control."

"This time, it's really sis!" exclaimed Christine.

The whole group was watching them from the inn.

"Forget about your movie plots. This is what we called reality," said AJ mockingly to Alice. She shrugged.

"Let's go and talk to her," said Christine.

The three ran over to the couple. The lawyers and Mr. Wong followed.

"Welcome back, Summer," AJ greeted.

"Luckily you're back. Brian will live again," Nick nudged Brian with his elbow, "You're beaming, Frack!"

"I'm glad that you come personally, Miss Anderson. Sign the deed and everyone will be happy."

Summer took the agreement and a pen from Mr. Wong.

"You're willing to sell the beach for me?" Summer asked Brian.

"I need you more than the beach."

After hearing this, Summer turned around and signed the agreement. She closed it and handed it back to Mr. Wong. He opened it and found a big turtle drawn on it.

"Miss, why?"

"I'll not sign it."

"I thought we agreed," he argued.

"My client never did commit."

"Yeah. She's right. I come here for a date," Summer said as she showed her 'two' sign at Brian. Brian took her hand and brought her back to the inn.

"What does that sign means?" asked Christine.

"Victory. Summer won!" Nick explained.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

It was twilight. The two sat on the beach, waiting for sunrise.

"You started out refusing to sell the beach. But later you changed you mind."

"At first, I didn't want to sell the beach because I was hoping that you would stay; so that I could be with you. Then, I changed my mind to sell it because I wanted to get you back; so that I could be with you again. But in the end, you were the one who didn't want to sell it."

"We'll see. If you're not nice to me, I'll definitely sell it. Well, I rejected a US$6.0 million offer."

"Why?"

"I've thought over it. In 9 months of a year, I'll be studying and you will be on your BSB tour. But we still have 3 months of summer vacation left to be together. Isn't it good that we've our own beach? But let's tear down this hut and build a big mansion. But it must have water-heaters and air-conditioning."

Brian gestured the victory sign and Summer pushed him away.

"It's not Tuesday today," Summer said sheepishly.

"I promise you twofold!"

"And don't you forget it!"

The End
