Chapter 14
WHAT A FEELING COULD DO
Kevin walks carefully
inside the Watch Tower. The machines are working
together. If he lose his steps, he’ll probably die before he found the
hydro-bomb. Kevin try to search every place of it.
In the same time,
Brian also entered the machine to find Kevin together with
the hydro-bomb. He try to mind his steps as careful as can be. He admit he
won't say he doesn’t afraid of die. He is really afraid of it. But now
he
learned something new that the feelings could come across everything.
Meanwhile, AJ is
searching for the other Tangs. He prepare for his gun to
make sure his safety. He recognized the Tangs at the edge of the Watch
Tower. He saw Fenbern as he attacks the gun straight towards the leader.
Fenbern was shot perfectly. However, Tiger, Ceria and Lysander was still
alive, they’re glancing at the big clock. It was 10:15. Triple of them
quickly ran to reach the top of the tower. AJ chase them. Tiger try to stop
AJ. They’re fighting for a while but then, AJ shot him perfectly. AJ quickly
run to get the other both. Ceria try to starts the helicopter’s engine.
Quickly AJ shoot him. It doesn’t goes perfectly. However, it does goes
to
Ceria’s right arm. Ceria try to hold on. AJ shoot once again. This time,
it
goes perfectly towards Ceria’s heart. Lysander was shock to see he was
left
alone. He quickly drove the helicopter away. AJ prepare for a harder shot.
He attacks at the helicopter and blast a huge missile. The helicopter blows
up on the air together with Lysander.
Brian is still
searching. However, he saw the bomb at the clock’s long
pointer. Brian try to search the wire to stop it but he can't. He glances at
the clock. It’s almost 10:30. Brian try to search anything that could stop
the bomb.
Suddenly, Brian
recognized something. He quickly ran to the top of the tower
and jumps down. AJ was shocked to see that. He quickly ran to look what’s
going on. AJ could see Brian hanging at the long needle of the giant clock.
“Brian! What are you doing?!” ask AJ.
“It’s
the only way to safe the city! I saw the bomb but we can't stop it!
The only way to stop it just to stop the clock! It’s too late to run down
and stop the service! So, I’ll hang here to stop the clock!” Brian
explains.
“But you can't hold much longer!” AJ shouts.
“I’m sure I could! Trust me!” Brian replies.
Kevin who is still
in the clock soon reach the back of the clock’s surface.
Kevin could saw Brian hanging on the needle of the clock. He suddenly
spotted the bomb behind the needle and try to stop it but for sure, he can't
do it. Kevin glances at the giant machines. It certainly stop working but it
seems to be moving not long after this. Kevin glance at his watch. It’s
now
10:42. However the giant clock is still 10:30. Perhaps because of Brian
hanging on the needle.
Kevin run to reach the top of the tower. He saw AJ was there.
“AJ! What’s happening?!!” ask Kevin.
“Brian’s hanging on the needle to stop the bomb!!” said AJ.
“What?!! Isn't I told you not to let him go?!!” Kevin said.
“How could
we let you go alone?!! If you die, we want to die with you too!!”
AJ shouts back through the windy air. Kevin said nothing. He quickly look
down.
“Brian!!” Kevin shouts. Brian looks up.
“Hold my hand!! Before you fall down!! Quick!” Kevin let his hand down.
“No! I’d annoyed you, Kev! I’m sorry!” Brian replied.
“Hold my hand,
Brian!! I understand you!! You’re just jealous about it. I
know you’d done that just because you love me! I know no one would love
me
more than you do!! Come on, Brian!! Hold my hand!!” Kevin try to persuade
him.
“I can't!!”
Brian shouts, “If I let go of this needle, the bomb will explode
up and this city will blows up!!”
“Listen, Brian!!
The clock is trying to move!! If you don’t get away from
there, when the clock move a little bit, you’ll die!!” shouts Kevin.
“At least it won't destroy the city!!” Brian said.
“But you’ll die!!” Kevin shouts back.
“I would always
afraid of being dead!! I would be satisfied if I could hear
you said that I’m like a brother to you for the last time!!” Brian
said.
“I won't till you hold my hand!!” Kevin said.
AJ glanced at the machines. It’s almost moving. AJ turns to Kevin.
“Kev! Quick! It almost explode up!” shouts AJ.
“Brian!! Quick! It’s almost explode up!” Kevin shouts at Brian.
“Then run away!!” said Brian.
“How can I run without you?!!” Kevin shouts.
“Kev!! Quick!! We’ve almost got no time!!” AJ reminds him.
“Just a minute!!
Brian!! Hold my hand!! I love you!! You’re like my brother
to me!! I don’t want you to die just like how I’d lost Howie!! Please!!”
Kevin said.
“Thanks, Kev. I almost miss that word!! AJ!! Take Kevin go!!” Brian shouts.
“Kevin!! Even
though you’re fired, but you’re still an army!! An army can't
have feelings!! Remember what General Wright told us?!! Better for one to
die rather than thousand of people!!” AJ try to persuade Kevin.
Kevin didn’t
know what to say. He turns to AJ. AJ looks worried. Kevin turns
back to Brian. He can't make a choice right now. However, his legs walk
towards AJ.
“Come on!!
We don’t have much time!!” AJ pull Kevin run through the rough
air.
“We don’t have much time!!” Kevin said, “Two minutes more!!”
“Kevin!! Remember
your skydiving lesson?!!” AJ points to the skydiving bags
on the top of the tower.
“Perfect!!”
Kevin take it and wears it. However, Kevin can't fasten it
tightly when AJ pull him down.
Just then, the
top of the tower explodes up. Even though it’s just a little
explosion, but we can make sure that Brian’s dead. AJ and Kevin reach the
ground. Kevin look at the air.
“AJ, the top of the tower was gone,” Kevin said.
“As well as Brian too,” AJ continue.
Kevin didn’t show any disappointment on his face.
“Sometimes
I’m thinking, I’d put my life on Brian, Nick and Howie’s fingers
before. But now Nick had transfer to Switzerland and he would probably never
come back. Howie and Brian had dead and they won't be at my side again for
sure. I’d lost everything in this world,” Kevin said staring at the
smoky
clouds. AJ look at Kevin.
“You still have me,” AJ smiles sweetly.
Kevin turns to
AJ. He stares at AJ’s childish face as he smiles back and
give AJ a brotherly hug. Even though he’d lost Brian by his side, but he
knows, someday, somehow, the time would give him a new brother. Starting
with this little boy called Alexander James McClean.
