Chapter 4

I recorded the song without the knowledge of Brian. I wanted to give him a surprise.

Brian~

Furious! I was furious with Sam. How could she use my music without my consent? She didn't respect me at all. I scolded her in front of many people after the debut and walked away. There was no way that a manager knew nothing about what was happening.

I sat on the basketball court alone and buried my head in my arms.

A hand gripped my shoulder. I looked up. It was Nick.

"Didn't you think that you were a bit harse? She has her own pride and you made her pride suffered a big blow."

"I know. But she was too much. The song was not up to my standard. A piece that I'm not satisfied with but she…"

"Yeah. But simple is not always bad - simple can be gorgeous, simple can be great too. It's a great song, Brian. Believe me."

"It's not that. I hate it when people keep me in the dark. I don't know what is happening."

"Anger and haste hinder good counsel. Stay cool," Nick tried to placate me, "it's not her fault. Even if it is, her love for you was the impetus of making this mistake. Go and say sorry."

Sam~

I must be very, very wrong. I had never seen Brian so angry before. Even Ryan wasn't at my side this time.

"Eriko, a man needs to be respected. I know you wanted to give him a surprise. But it's a surprise which hurts his pride too."

I tried very hard to hamper the tears from running down my hot cheeks. But they came flowing down. He shouted at me in front of the people who worked with me everyday. Ryan still thinks that he was right. Did I really deserve that? Everything I do was for him and he treated me this way. He hurt me.

"Ryan, I don't know why."

"Why? You guys need understanding. That's the most important thing between two people. A good relationship isn't a game you play or an ego trip you take. It is about love and two people."

"What should I do then?"

"Say sorry."
