Chapter 9

"Woah.. what's this all about?" Nick asked. They were pulling onto Gerri's (Jen's grandma) block. There was a police care in the street and one in the driveway.

"Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god." Jen panicked. "Shit." She carefully drove down the rest of the way, trying not to lose control. 'Please be okay. Please be okay Jay. Mommy needs you.' She thought.

Jen pulled up into the driveway next to the police car. It didn't even matter whether or not the car was still running or not. She ran through the front door to see Gerri holding a tissue to her cheeks wiping her tears and a few policemen speaking with her.

"Grandma? What happened? Where's Jayson? Please tell me he's okay!" Jen said trying not to cry, but couldn't help it when Jayson wasn't with her.

"He..we..dinner..Jim." She stumbled. Jen cupped her hand over her mouth and started to collapse but fell into Nick's arms.

"Excuse me Miss?" Jen looked up. "Someone by the name of," The man looked down at a piece of paper and then back at Jen,"Jim, apparently came through the door with a loaded gun during supper and has taken your baby."

"Oh my god!"She whispered.

"Now, Miss Giaramita. We've sent out a few cars searching through the whole town. We have no idea where he is headed. What he has done with your son, or.. if he's dead or alive."

"God.. Please tell me this is a dream. Nick. Please tell me this is a dream and that he's sleeping in his crib at home." Jen cried holding onto Nick's shirt.

"I'm sorry honey. We'll get him back, I promise." Nick said assuringly.

The next few hours dragged by. No signs of Jim nor Jay. No information.

Jen spent the night in the nursery. Turning on the mobile. Smelling his clothes. Sitting on the rocking chair holding his teddy.

Nick came in the room with a cup of tea. "Thought maybe you'd want this." He said giving her the tea.

"Oh Nick." Jen cried. "I'm glad you're here with me. I don't know what I would've done if you didn't come back with me." She said standing up. Nick embraced her and let her cry on his shoulder.

"Sweetie. I promise you that we'll find him. I won't leave you until everything is settled. I promise." He replied kissing her on the forehead.

"Thankyou. I know this is kinda soon to be saying this in our relationship, but I love you."

"I think I love you too. And it's not just a toss of words. I'm speaking the truth." Jen looked up and smiled slightly. Nick wiped her tears away with his thumb and squeezed her one last time before suggesting that they should get some rest.

"Hello?"

"Hello this is the Cape Coral Police Department."

"Yes Hi. Is there any news?" Nick asked worridly. Jen was stirring in her sleep.

"Nick?" She asked rubbing her eyes. He looked at her but kept listening to the woman on the line.

"We may have found your son. We've sent out a few cars to check it out. If you'd like to meet them they are at the Yacht Club on El Dorado Blvd." 'Your son.' He thought.

"Th---Thankyou Miss." He replied hanging up the phone. "Jen, Baby wake up. They may have found the baby."

"Here.. Here.. turn here." Jen said shaky. They pulled into the parking lot and jumped out of the car. There was a Police boat at the dock with something wrapped in a blanket. Jen ran as fast as she could to the cop.

"Ms. Giaramita?" Jen nodded but didn't wait for an answer. She unwrapped whatever it was in the blanket. She looked down and smiled while the tears poured down her cheeks, as cooing was heard. She threw the blanket down on the ground counting 10 toes and 10 fingers. Jen grabbed him out of the man's arms and held him close, squeezing him.

"Oh Jay!" She screamed happily kissing him over and over again on his cheeks and belly. "You scared Mommy." She somewhat laughed. Jen started walking around with him and went to Nick.

"Hey there buddy." Nick said rubbing his back. Jay giggled. "You gave us a scare Jay." Jen smiled and kissed him again.

"Ms. Giaramita. We'd like to send him to the hospital just to get him tested. He was out in the water for a while."

"Out in the Water?!?! Floating?"She screamed.

"Honey.. obviously in something. You're holding him right now aren't you?" Nick said. Jen just looked at him with the 'Duh, i'm stupid.' look on her face.

The police officer chuckled to himself. "No he was in baby tube. You're lucking the boat that found him wasn't going to fast to turn the tube over. But, we have an ambulence over there to take you guys in. You can go in with him and your husband can follow in the car."

"Okay. Thankyou." Jen smiled at Nick and mouthed 'Husband'. Nick chuckled to himself and waved getting into the car watching Jen get into the ambulence.

"Ms. Giaramita?" Jen stood up with Nick grabbing her hand. They followed the nurse into the room where they had been testing Jayson. He was laying in a metal crib with a bottle in his mouth and an IV hooked up to him. "Jayson seems to be doing very well. There is no sign of any sickness or diseases. The police were lucky when they found him because a few more hours and Jayson could have gotten a nemonia."

"Wow. Thankyou. Do you know when he can come home?" Jen asked.

"Um, Yea. I'm pretty sure he can go home within the next hour. You just need to fill out release papers and information. I'll go get them." The nurse left. Jen and Nick stayed by the crib and watched him eat.

"You can sleep with Mommy and Nick tonight okay?" Jen said drying him off from his bath. She put on his jammies and layed him down in the middle of the bed. Nick came in and wrapped his arms around Jen's waist. "Thanks Nick."

"Your welcome." They kissed each other and then climed into bed. Watching as Jay fell asleep, then each said goodnight before dozing off themselves.
